Copter's POV

I was awakened from my nap because I could not breathe. I felt like I was being suffocated.

That was when I realized that someone's lips were on mine, effectively shutting out the air from getting into my lungs! What in bloody hell!

I frantically looked around me. I was in someone else's room!

Then whoever had been kissing me lifted his head and said, "Oh, you're awake!"

My palm automatically made painful contact with the person's cheek. He gingerly placed his hand to his cheek. I knew I had slapped him really hard so it must have stung like hell.

"I'm sorry, Copter, I could not resist. You were sleeping like an angel. Your slightly opened lips looked so irresistible that I felt myself being drawn to them."

That was when I realized that I was in Mean's room and, oh shit, I had just slapped him hard. I had just slapped my boss's good looking face! Oh no!

"I'm sorry, too, for hurting your cheek," I said contritely.

"Don't be sorry, Copter. I deserved it,"  I heard him say, even as he continued to gently massage his affected cheek.

"What time is it?" I asked after an awkward silence.

"It's half past five," Mean replied. "You slept for a good two hours. Since it is almost dinner time, I am inviting you to have dinner with me."

"No, don't say no, please," he said when he saw me shaking my head. "I have already instructed my chef to make dinner for two."

"Very well," I said. I guess that was the least I could do after I had slapped him real hard. I could still see the red mark where my palm had made painful contact with his cheek.

"While we're waiting for dinner to be announced, let me show you around my place," he offered.

"Well, that was the reason you brought me here in the first place, right?" I commented, trying not to sound disrespectful to my boss. "To show me around your new condo, you said?"

"Of course," he said with a glint in his eye. "We could include other reasons but I can see you're not prepared for those reasons yet. But I'm a patient man. All things come to those who wait, someone famous said that. I just can't remember who, but I believe in that saying."

I had to admit that his place was one of the most impressively luxurious places I had ever seen. The Olympic size pool in his backyard looked so tempting. I was a pretty good swimmer. I could imagine myself making several laps in it. It would be so much fun.

As if he read my thoughts, Mean said to me, "We can take a dip after dinner if you like. I have an unopened pair of swimming trunks you could use that I'm sure would fit you."

"No, no, no," I declined. "But thank you for the offer."

Soon the chef approached us to announce that dinner was ready.

Mean took my hand and led me to the large dining room whose table could easily fit about twenty guests, ten on either side plus two persons on either end of the dining table.

"If you don't mind, I would like for you to sit beside me instead of on the other end of the table," Mean said.

"Of course," I agreed. "I wouldn't want to sit too far away from you. I wouldn't want for us to be yelling at each other just to be able to make proper conversation."

The fish dish tasted heavenly.

"What do you call this dish?" I asked Mean.

"My chef informed me that it's called red snapper Livornese," Mean replied.

"It tastes heavenly," I gushed over it. "I have never tasted a dish like this before."

"It goes very well with this wine," Mean said, pouring some white wine into my glass.

"Not too much, please," I begged.

"I'm not really a wine drinker. I get affected by alcohol too quickly," I confessed to Mean.

"Don't worry," said Mean. "You won't be the one driving anyway. And then again, you can always stay overnight here and then I can take you home tomorrow. Tomorrow is Saturday. You can spend the whole weekend with me."

Before I could decline, Mean's phone started to ring.

"Who's this?" Mean said into his phone without even saying hello.

"Umm... umm..." I noticed Mean looking at me. He was having an indecisive look on his face.

Although the caller was not on speaker, I could hear almost everything that the caller was saying because the voice sounded loud and agitated.

"Please, please, come and pick me up from here! I'm at a nearby mall. I ran away from Kimmon! I would not have bothered you but the mayor whose number is on the business card that he gave me is not answering my call!"

"What the hell happened between you and Kimmon?" Mean asked, his voice sounding properly scandalized.

"I will explain to you when you get here! Please, please hurry!"

Mean looked at me.

"Go and help whoever needs your help," I urged Mean. "I'm finished with dinner anyway. We can pick him up first and then you can take me home."

"You remember Plan, the partner of Kimmon?" Mean asked.

"Yes, Kimmon introduced him to us during the inauguration party earlier," I replied.

"Well, I don't know yet what has happened between him and Kimmon but he has left Kimmon and it seems like he has no place to stay for the night," Mean explained.

"Take him into your care for the night," I suggested. "I wouldn't want for anyone to have no place to go just when he desperately needs comfort and company."

"I guess, you're right, Copter," Mean said, looking thoughtfully at me. "You are such a kind soul. It would be so easy for anyone to fall in love with you."

Oh, no, please, not you, I said silently to myself.
