Chapter 3
"Night bubby! Love you!" I hug him. "Love you too, sis. Don't trash the house." I smile. "Bye Joey." He embraces me suddenly, and I hug him back. Together they walk into Joey's.
"Okay, now I drop Chad off, and Pick up Fallon. Then we stop by my place, and get Brycie and the girls. After that off to Kelsey's." Alan explains his plan to me and Chad.
"Have fun with your kids, bro. Call me if you need anything," Chad says, walking towards his house. "Send Fallon out!" I shout, hoping he heard me. "So, Alan, how did you get stuck being a bus?" I ask him. He shrugs, "Brycie made me do it."
Minutes later five girls are sitting in Alan's car. "Daddy! Daddy!" Avery squeals. "What baby girl?" Alan asks. "Sing VeggieTales!" She insists. Alan shakes his head, "No. I'll do it at home." Presley pipes up, "Daddy sing, please!" Of course Alan can't resist so he starts singing VeggieTales to his daughters.
Once Alan pulls up to Kelsey's she rushes outside. "Hey girls!" She smiles, giving each of us a hug, including Presley and AJ. "Hey Alan. Don't work too hard," I give him a hug before heading inside
I walk into the kitchen, where Kelsey's making food. "Hey, Kels need help?" I ask. "No, I'm okay," she insists trying to shoo me into the living room. "Kelsey, it's fine. I'm glad to help." She rolls her eyes, "Fine, since I know you won't leave me alone." I smile and help her with the homemade pizza she started.
The pizza soon gets popped into the oven. "We should probably clean up," I gesture towards Kelsey's messy kitchen. "Or we could do this!" Kelsey laughs, as she hurls a handful of flour at me.
I look down at my shirt, that is now covered in powder, "No you didn't!" I shriek dumping a handful of flour on her head. Fallon and Brycie enter the kitchen just as Kelsey hurls more flour at me. I duck at it hits Brycie in the face.
"I'll get you back!" She exclaims trying to throw more at Kelsey, she ends up hitting Fallon. "Alli, come here I have a secret for you," Fallon says. I walk over to her, "What?"
"This is what!" She takes the remainder of the flour and dumps it right on my head. It drips down my shirt, covering the ground with flour.
"There's nothing I want more, than to give my girls a hug." I trap them in my powdery embrace. The girls screech with laughter.
In the midst of everything, my phone rings. I answer it, seeing it's Caleb. "Hey, bub. What's up?" I ask. "Joey. His cover was posted. He's gotten a lot of hate for it even though it's only been five minutes. Can you and the girls come over he needs some encouraging." He sounds really choked up. "Yeah. I'll talk to them. See ya soon. Love ya, bub!"
I hang up and turn to face the girls who look very concerned. "We need to get cleaned up and go over to Joe's. He put his cover up, and he's getting a ton of hate for it," I tell them.
"Oh no! That's terrible! We've got to be there for him!" Brycie exclaims, rushing to the bathroom. "Poor boy. He's just trying something new," Fallon murmurs. "I can't believe this. Some people are so rude!" Kelsey says, heading upstairs to change.
I can't believe the nerve of some people! What has Joey ever done to them?! Nothing! I know that's only where the hate starts, soon it will spread to the rest of the band, and the girls, and finally me.
I need to be there for Joey, but who's gonna be there for me. I hope I hav somebody to lean on. Somebody that will never let me down. Somebody who knows exactly what I'm going through.
"Alli! You ready?" Fallon asks, grabbing her purse. I nod, "Yeah. Let's go." Before we leave, Kelsey pulls the pizza out, and turns the oven off.
We all pile into Kelsey's car, and head to Joey's. We get there and see Joey sitting on the side of the couch, staring at his phone. I notice a few tears streaming down his face. I can't help but rush over to him!
"Joey! Don't listen to them! People love you, and your cover! Don't let it get you down, love you." I say very quickly sitting right next to him. "Allison, you don't understand. People are starting to question my faith. They're saying if Anthem Lights were true Christians they would've dropped me from the band." Another tear slips out his eye.
"I'm so sorry! I had no idea it was that bad," I hug him. He doesn't hug me back, I wonder why he's never done that to me before. "Joe, this is bad, but you'll get through this, I promise." I lay my head on his shoulder looking at what he's doing.
I glance over to his phone and see he's reading all the hate comments, and tweets. "Come on now, don't read those! You should be doing something fun. Wanna go bowling?" I grab his phone, and lock it. He looks unsure, "I don't know."
"Come on, it'll be just what you need to get your mind off of everything." Joey still looks unsure, "Alli, I appreciate everything you're doing, but I'm fine right here."
I can't believe this! This is so un-Joey. These haters are really getting to him. I've never seen him so down in the dumps. "Joey! Come on please, bubby!" Yes, I call him that too. I call pretty much all the guys that. "Alli no! Okay! I said that like four times!" Joey screams.
