Holywood, September 1st 1998

Dinner at the Dornan's was wonderful, not only I got to meet my hero, Jamie, but I also had the chance of meeting his sisters, the entire family is adorable, although sad for the absence of their mom, they're  a great family! Jamie was a bit talkative, during dinner, which made his sisters and dad incredibly happy and to top it off, he hit it off with Tommy, apparently Jamie loves football as much as Tommy does and both root for the same team, Manchester United. After dinner Tommy and I joined Jamie and his sisters to watch a movie while our parents had some adult conversation along with some whiskey, my mom doesn't drink so she was the one who controlled my dad's silly jokes when drunk.
During the film, Jamie sat next to me and that totally disrupt my focus on the movie because I could feel his body's warmth and his scent. He, on the other hand, paid full attention to "I know what you did last summer". There was a point where Liesa and Jessica screamed and he held my arm to ask me if I was ok, which I only nodded in response. After the movie my parents were ready to hit the road and we left them to rest, not before Jamie hugged me goodbye and said that he would see me at school.

Today is our first day of school and I can't stop the butterflies inside my stomach. A new school, new friends and of course, I will be seeing Jamie.

"You ready?"

Tommy looked handsome in his uniform, he's always been the confident one so he wasn't the least nervous about the new school.

"I guess so"

He smiled and walked towards me. He stopped right in front of me and held me by the shoulders.

"There's no need to feel nervous! I will be right next to you"

Awn my sweet brother! He's just per...

"And so will your boyfriend "

I was going to say perfect but Tommy had to choose this moment to pick on me! The prick!

"Stop it!"

I slapped his arm.

"Ouch! Stop hitting me and let's go!"

As soon as we were heading the stairs we heard the bell which indicated us that Jack and Simona were outside. We live closer to school so they are picking us up. Tommy ran to open the door and my mom met him to give him a kiss good luck.

"Have a wonderful first day, dear!"

"Thanks momma!"

He grinned, the least embarrassed by my mom's show of affection, he actually likes it, such momma's boy! When I reached the door my mom did the same with me, she even adjusted the hem of my uniform skirt! How embarrassing! But when I walked out my door my heart stopped, right next to Jack and Simona was standing the one and only Jamie Dornan! He was wearing his uniform and his hair was tussled on the front, his tie was crooked, which gave me the urge to fix it and the grin on his face, don't get me started on that one! It made him look the typical bad boy, the kind who steals innocent girls' hearts. He definitely has stolen mine. Simona came to my rescue as I was standing awkwardly in my front door.

"Salut Millie!"

I looked at her a bit confused.

"That means hi in Romanian, I have decided I will teach you my mother-tongue so we can have a secret language"

I giggled and nodded.

"Ok!"

"Shall we go, ladies?"

Always the charmer, Jack reached out his hand for Simona to take and we began walking towards school, it felt so great to be part of a group of friends, which only calm me partly, I was still anxious because of the new school and being the new girl. I accidentally dropped my house keys while trying to put them in my backpack. Jamie immediately stopped and picked them up.

"Are you nervous, Mills?"

I flushed  at the sound of my nickname, only Jack calls me that. I used to hate it but coming from his Irish accent.... Let's say it has become my favorite nickname! But I still tried to keep my cool.

"A bit anxious"

"Don't worry, I'll be by your side. I mean, hum.. WE will be by your side"

He looked so cute! He was al flustered so I gave him my sweetest smile and his gaze turned to my lips, it looked like he wanted to kiss me, or am I imagining things????

"Come along love birds! We don't want to be late on our first day of class"

Jack interrupted our staring contest and Jamie gave me his shy smile. My heart missed a couple of beats.

Rockport School was a beautiful building surrounded by so much green! Green trees, green bushes, green grass, green uniforms. I was taking in the sight of the school when I heard Jack's voice.

"Are you ok, mate?"

We all turned to see who he was talking to when I saw Jamie white as paper. He started hyperventilating.

"Calm down, mate! Where's your inhaler?"

Jamie passed his backpack to Jack instead of answering and Jack quickly looked for something in it. I needed to help.

"Jamie! Look at me! Breathe! It's ok! You are ok! Breathe in and out. That's it!"

"Found it!"

Jack gave Jamie his inhaler and Jamie expertly puffed it once and looked at his watch. I could see how his breathing was starting to calm down and color was coming back to him. Simona and Tommy approached him not knowing what to do. Jamie then puffed again. This time he spoke.

"That was a big one"

Jack handed him back his backpack.

"Let's go mate! We're here for you"

He nodded and kept on walking avoiding my gaze at any cost. And I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. I somehow knew that the asthma attack was due to coming back to school and missing his best friends. Jack looked sad too, even Simona's smile was gone. Coming back to school and not seeing your friends after the horrible accident must be really hard. I held Simona's arm and Tommy tap both Jamie's and Jack's back and off we went to face our first day.

We all went to get our schedules and lucky me I share a class with each of them throughout the day. First period it's Literature and I share it with the one and only rugby player (didn't know he was on the team) Jamie Dornan.

"Ok Millie, are you ready?"

Tommy held my shoulders and looked into my eyes. I nodded.

"No need to be nervous, Jamie will be with you on first period, then you have Chemistry with Jack for two hours then we'll meet in your locker for the little break and off we go to History together, the rest of the day we'll plan it in lunchtime, ok?"

"Ok"

I was uneasy, but Jamie came next to me and still with sad eyes asked,

"Ready?"

"Yeah, let's do this!"

"That's the spirit!!! Good luck! And see you at lunchtime"

Simona hugged me and ran off with Tommy, they share first period, Jack blew me a kiss and off he went to Social Studies. As I was walking next to Jamie I couldn't help but notice that he has a funny walk, it's adorable how he kind of jumps on the second step.

"Are you staring at me?"

I was startled by Jamie's question and when I met his gaze his eyes were full of humor.

"It's just that you have an adorable walk"

He flushed immediately.

"Stop making fun of me and let's speed up, Mr. Conner is not a patient man"

As in cue, the bell rang and he held my hand to speed up. When we arrived to the classroom we were still holding hands, Mr. Conner a middle size bold man with green eyes, noticed our hands linked and smiled proudly.

"Welcome back Mr. Dornan! I can see you've found our new student"

Jamie cleared his throat and let go of my hand.

"Good Morning Mr.C"

And off he went to the back and sat in an available desk. Mr. Connor brought his attention to me.

"You must be Miss Warner, welcome! Please take the seat next to Mr. Dornan"

I nodded and was so grateful I was designated that seat because the other available was next to a not so friendly girl, she had mean eyes. As I was walking towards my seat I met eyes with Jamie who was beaming a beautiful smile. I sat and Mr. Connor spoke.

"This year you will have a big project which will weigh 50% of your total score for the entire year, you can choose your partner and hang on it because you will depend on it! Be wise at choosing"

Jamie held my hand.

"Don't worry, I am very good at literature, we will be fine with that project"

I smiled, I couldn't help but to feel happy, I didn't have to pair up with a stranger, instead my partner will be cute and trustworthy. I think Literature has become my favorite subject.

Time flew by. We had survived the first two periods and now we were sitting under a tree having lunch the five of us, our little gang. I was sitting next to Simona and Tommy while Jack and Jamie were facing us, we were all sharing our lunch.

"I can't believe I only have one class with you on Mondays and it's at the end of the day!"

Simona looked exasperated.

"Chill, one more class and I'll meet you at P.E"

"Alright, alright!"

We finished our lunch and were involved in a serious discussion about what should we do after lunch when the bell rang. This is the only class I go by myself which made me a little nervous. As I was walking to class I noticed a blond girl walking to the same direction as me and at the same pace, if it weren't for the little space between us, you would think that we were friends. When I turned into the Art Classroom, I noticed she did the same. We looked at each other and she smiled, her smile was very warm and I smiled back.

"Hi! My name is Kelly Nordstrom"

We shook hands.

"Amelia Warner, nice to meet you!"

As soon as we took a seat next to each other we started talking nonstop, she's English too and she lives in the school! My school is both boarding and independent school. We talk throughout the class and I don't think Miss Fonseca was so thrilled about it.

As soon as I finished Art class a waved Kelly goodbye and we promised to sit  together at lunchtime next day.

As I was walking to meet Simona I couldn't help but smile and be grateful for this wonderful day at school, so far I'm loving every second of it, and that's a miracle! Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
