Shopping with mom was as fun as always. My mom is a fantastic person, she works hard but she always gives us quality time.  She bought the new uniforms and also some new outfits for me, we even bought Tommy and dad some new shirts. We had lunch in our favorite Italian Restaurant and went to the salon to have our nails done. It was a wonderful day, too bad that it was going to be ruined by the boring dinner at my dad's friend's house. I know my mom mentioned the man had three kids but I still don't feel excited about meeting them, I've been to too many business dinners to know this one will be no different.

I was startled by Tommy walking into my room unannounced once again.

"Is there anything wrong with you and knocking doors before entering?"

He shrugged me off.

"Is not that you were busy or anything"

"Shut up! What do you need?"

"Are you ready? Dad is getting anxious"

I looked at my reflection in the mirror, I was wearing one of my new outfits, it consisted of a black skirt that ended right before reaching my knees, a light blue blouse that was buttoned until the middle of my waist which left part of my belly button exposed, I didn't know if my dad was going to approve but this was fashion and my awesome mom had bought it for me.

"Where are the rest of your buttons?"

"Oh come on Tommy! Don't start!"

He looked offended.

"Just saying! I don't think dad would like this outfit. Put on your shoes and come downstairs, I want to see dad's face when he sees you!"

I reached for a pillow to throw it at him but he was already gone. I put on my black Mary Janes and after applying some chap stick headed downstairs.

Once my dad saw me his gaze stopped at my belly button.

"Was there anything wrong with the rest of the buttons?"

I was about to reply when my mom cut in.

"Oh come on! Leave the girl alone! It's the hottest fashion! And you can only see some of her stomach"

My dad shook his head and spoke.

"The problem is exactly that I can SEE her stomach! I'm sure Jim goes through the same problem with his two daughters. Let's get going, then"

And we all hopped in the car. I didn't pay attention to where we were going because I was in a deep discussion with Tommy about Jack's death in Titanic, we always fight over this ever since we watched the film back in Liverpool.

"He was very stupid for not finding something else to float on"

"He was taking care of Rose!"

"I agree, but it was a foolish move!"

"No it wasn't!"

"Yes, it was!"

"No....."

"Enough kids! We're here"

My dad was exasperated. We always tire him out.

I came out of my dad's  Volkswagen Passat and was straightening my skirt when I heard Tommy's voice.

"Hum... Mills? Isn't this...?"

I looked up and couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. We were just outside Jamie's house. I was dumbfounded.

"Come come kids! We don't want to be late"

My mom was very excited but not as I was!

"Wait! Tommy!"

I pulled his arm after feeling a panic attack starting throughout my body.

"Mills, chillax! You'll finally meet him!"

"I know! But I didn't want it to be this way"

"Oh come on! The sooner the better so you'll leave me alone and stop stalking this boy!"

"I'm not stalking him!!!!!"

I whisper-yelled at him when my mom's voice startled me.

"Kids! Behave!"

We resumed our way when the door opened. A man around my dad's age stood in the threshold with a warm smile, he was tall with light blue eyes, blonde hair and flushed cheeks.

"Alun! You made it!"

My dad gave him a hug slapping his back.

"Apparently, we're neighbors!"

The man chuckled. It was so contagious that I found myself smiling.

"That's good to hear! How do you do Annette?"

My mom gave him a shy smile.

"Dr. Dornan, thank you for having us"

He opened the door wider.

"Please, it's Jim. And do make yourselves at home"

My dad introduced Tommy, who shook his hand.

"A strong handshake, a man of good character"

"Thank you, sir!"

"And this beautiful young lady is...."

Before mom or dad could speak, I found my voice.

"Amelia, sir"

"What a beautiful name"

I blushed and thanked him. We made our way into the living room where there were two girls smiling at us, I recognized one of them from yesterday when Jack brought us here. She recognized me as well and came to us.

"Hi! You're Jack's new friends, aren't you? My name is Jessica, nice to meet you"

"Hi! I'm Tommy and this is my incredibly quiet sister, Amelia"

We shook hands and the other girl came to greet us.

"I'm Liesa, nice to meet you!"

"Nice meeting you too. So... Where's your brother?"

"Tommy!!"

I glared at him.

"Sorry! My brother has no filter"

They both giggled.

Jessica was a bit older than us and I could tell Liesa was the eldest, she was wearing a smart and sophisticated outfit that made her look like a college student.

"It's ok! Our little brother is going through a rough time but my dad made him promise to come downstairs and hang at dinner time"

"Would you guys like anything to drink?"

Liesa was very polite. My throat was very dry.

"Some water, please"

"And you, Tommy?"

"I'm ok, thank you!"

We followed them towards the kitchen and when we were by the stairs that connected the living room with the second floor, we heard some music playing. It was "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M, an extremely depressing song, if you ask me.

As if reading my thoughts, Jessica spoke with a sad tone.

"Yeah, that would be Jamie"

I don't know what came into me but I spoke before thinking.

"Can I go see him?"

Liesa stopped in her tracks.

"Do you know him?"

I didn't know what to say so Tommy came to my rescue.

"Actually, Jamie is my sister's hero. The other day he led her way back home before it rained heavily"

"Did he speak with you??"

She looked surprised.

"Ye-yes"

It was getting hard to speak so Tommy spoke for me again.

"He even smiled at her! I saw him yesterday"

Jessica clapped her hands.

"He likes you! Go ahead!!! His room is the last one down the corridor to your right!"

Liesa was going to say something but Jessica cut her.

"Go go! Tell him dinner will be ready in ten"

And she winked at me. Then she spun around her sister and my brother and led them to the kitchen. Once they disappeared from my sight, I made my way to Jamie's room. As I was walking I was mentally kicking myself. How could I be so stupid? What am I supposed to tell him now? 'Hi! However it looks otherwise, I'm not stalking you' or 'Hi! Remember me? I am here to make you smile'.

Standing outside his door I could hear the last guitar strings of the song and suddenly it started all over again. Did he put it on repeat??? How long has he been listening to it???? I needed to stop him! I knocked on the door rather loudly when he threw open it. His eyes opened wide in surprise.

"You??? I mean, Amelia right?"

I smiled at him. He remembered my name! Time to throw some of my charm.

"Yeah! Hi Jamie!"

I gave him my best smile.

"What? Why? How?"

"Can I come in?"

He frowned and stood there as in debating whether he should let me in or not.

"It's ok, I'm not stalking you. I'm here with my family, apparently our dads work together"

He let out a loud exhale and gave me his shy smile. Then he opened his door wider to let me in.

"So you are Dr. Warner's daughter... And the guy you were with yesterday... Is he your brother?"

I looked around his bedroom trying to get to know this guy just by looking at his habitat. Even though it's a boy room, it smell heavenly, there was a double bed right in the middle of the room, it wasn't made but it looked clean. There was a desk under the only window of the room, which was covered with dark blue curtains. He had a computer, and a mini stereo was playing the sad song. He cleared his throat and I brought my attention back to him.

"I'm sorry, you were saying?"

Another smile came to his lips and this time it reached his eyes and it made me yearn for those real smiles so I vowed to continue making him smile like that.

"I was asking if the boy you were with yesterday was your brother"

"Oh Tommy? Yeah, he is. He's downstairs with your sisters"

"You never told me how you knew my name. Is it because of your dad?"

I shook my head no and sat on the chair by his desk. I needed to turn that music off so I asked him while pointing to the stereo.

"Can I?"

He nodded and motioned me to continue my story.

"Right, my brother and I met Simona and Jack yesterday and I told them about our first encounter so after giving them your description, Jack said it was you and that we should meet you, so we came to see you but you weren't here so we ended up going to Jack's house to watch 'Romeo and Juliet' when the movie was over I was walking back home with Tommy..."

"And you saw me again"

"Exactly!"

I smiled at him and he started grinning.

"How the heck did you manage to make Jack watch a Di Caprio movie??? He hates him!"

"He wasn't so thrilled but Simona had her ways to convince him"

"I'm sure"

He was grinning again and looked so handsome! We were smiling at each other when Jessica came into the room.

"Sorry for interrupting but dinner is ready"

She smiled again and left the room. I turned to Jamie.

"Shall we?"

"Yes, we can come back to our talk"

He nodded and extended his hand to help me up my feet, he led me out his room while holding my hand, I felt very comfortable and his touch sent goose bumps all over me.... This boy is gonna be the death of me!
