4: The Date
You grabbed both of Loki's hands and led him to the couch, sitting down next to him. You took a deep breath, before beginning your explanation.
You tell him everything, from the day of the Alignment, when Thor saved your life from a falling car, to Steve asking you out.
Flashback (your POV)
You came out from under the car you had been hiding under, now that the huge fight seemed to be over. You had no idea what had just happened, but you knew that you were so lucky it hadn't killed you.
You were walking across the street to a place a bunch of people were gathering at, when something hit you, knocking you over and out of the street.
A car. A car landed exactly where you had been standing. And now a blonde man in armor was laying on top of you, breathing heavily.
"Are you alright?" he asked, helping you up. You nodded and tried to slow your heartbeat. The man held out his hand to you.
"I'm Thor Odinson, of Asgard."
You had no idea what the fuck this guy was talking about.
"I-I'm (y/n)."
"Wonderful to meet you, (y/n)." He bent over and kissed your hand. Another woman came running up to us.
"Oh my god, Thor, you scared the hell out of me!" she yelled, smacking his arm. He rolled his eyes.
"Darcy, if I hadn't helped her, she would have been killed." he said. She raised her eyebrows, a look of stubborn acceptance on her face. "Well... I guess that's not a bad excuse." she muttered.
End flashback
You finished talking, and Loki sat with his eyebrows slightly inclined. "So, do you hate me now?" you asked, and he snapped out of his trance.
"What? No, of course I don't hate you. Why would I?"
You shrugged, letting go of his hand, which you hadn't realized you were holding.
"I don't know. I mean, you two were against each other, and I didn't know if-"
He cut you off with a quick chuckle. "I can't place blame on you for a quarrel between my brother and I." he said, caressing my face with his hand and making me shiver. "Besides, if he hadn't saved your life, no matter how... barbarically... he did it, you wouldn't be here to provide me with food and a roof over my head, would you?"
You shrugged. "I guess you're right." you said. "I'm happy you're not gonna kill me or anything."
Loki laughed. "So, you're in a relationship with Captain Steve Rogers?" he asked. You blushed. "N-No, it's no a relationship, it's just one date." you stuttered. "That's all. For now..."
Loki chuckled again. "I can tell he's... interested in you, to say the least." he said, his tone and expression becoming difficult to read. You shrugged it off and stood up, walking to the kitchen.
"So, Loki, now that you're training to be a Midgardian, we might as well make you a fun one!" you said excitedly. "How about a Harry Potter movie marathon? We can watch 1-4 today, and I dont start work until tomorrow afternoon, so we can watch 5-8 in the morning!"
"What are you babbling about?"
You giggled, pulling a movie case from the entertainment center and putting the first movie into the DVD player.
You made popcorn, and the two of you spent the remainder of the day watching the movies.
*************************
You woke up the next morning leaning on Loki on the couch. The two of you were snuggled up together under your duvet, which you guessed you had gotten from your room at some point during the movie marathon.
You didn't move, not wanting to wake Loki. He was almost sitting up, his head lolling to the side. You were practically laying on him, your arms around his waist and your head on his chest, with the duvet spread over both of you.
You let out a sigh of contentment, not wanting to get up. But you also really wanted to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
You sat up as much as Loki's arms draped over you would allow, and tapped his nose with your finger repeatedly.
His nose twitched, and you giggled, causing his eyes to flit open. His smiled slightly, closing his eyes again and leaning back further. "Good morning, (y/n)."
"Ready for another movie?"
"Of course."
You grinned, changing the DVD in the player and almost running back to the couch. You plopped back down, leaning on Loki and pulling the duvet back around you both.
After the fifth movie, you made breakfast for the both of you and ate while watching the sixth movie (the ending made you cry and choke on your Cheerios). You cleaned up the kitchen and cuddled some more during seven (in which you cried a little), and clung to Loki's T-shirt during Deathly Hallows part 2 (in which you cried a lot).
Once the movie was over, you wiped tears and smeared makeup from your face. "So, what did you think?" you asked Loki, who was glaring at the credits.
"That's it?" he asked, pointing at the TV. "That's all? It's just... over?"
You chuckled. "I'm afraid so."
Loki continued to glower at the TV. "It was actually quite... captivating." he said.
You grinned. "I have the books, too, if you'd like to read them."
He nodded much too enthusiastically, and you laughed, going into your room to get the first one from your bedside table.
"Here you go." you said, tossing the book at Loki, who caught it.
He immediately started reading, and you laughed. You fixed a quick lunch; BLTs; and then started getting ready for your first day of work at the new Stark Tower.
You dressed professionally, forcing yourself into a (color) dress with black heels and ditching your (f/c) beanie.
You walked back into the sitting room, where Loki was sprawled on the couch, already halfway through the book.
You pushed his beanie down over his eyes as you sat down on the couch.
"Hey!"
You giggled, and he pushed the hat back in place. "So, today I'm starting my new job. My boss is an absolute prick, so if I come home in a bad mood sometimes, don't piss me off." you said.
"Who would your boss be, then?"
"Oh, I'm sure you know him."
"Who?"
"Tony Stark."
Loki laughed, and you punched him in the arm.
You stood up and walked to the door. "I'll see you later. Try not to destroy the place."
"Have fun."
He was already absorbed back into the book before you were out the door.
You got a cab to the Tower, where you were greeted by Tony.
"(Y/n)!" he said, hugging you quickly as you stepped off the elevator. "Long time, no see!"
You forced a smile.
"Hi, Mr. Stark."
"So, you got a boyfriend?"
"Tony!"
You glared at him, and he chuckled. "I'm joking. Steve told me all about your little date tonight."
You spent the rest of the day getting Tony coffee and organizing papers, complaining to no one about him the the whole time.
You went home at five-thirty, surprised at the high-paying wages for such a short shift. You were only his afternoon PA; the job was only available because his PA couldn't deal with him all day. You didn't blame her.
You went back to your apartment to get ready for your date. You walked through the door to see Loki just beginning the fourth Harry Potter book.
You laughed. "Enjoying them?" you asked as you plopped onto the couch with him. He nodded without looking at you.
You rolled your eyes and stood up again. "I've got a date to get ready for." you said, walking to your room.
You changed into something nice, but not too dressy. You fixed your makeup and texted Steve, humming quietly to yourself as you say back on the couch with Loki.
You: Hey ❤️ still picking me up?
Steve responded within the minute.
Steve ❤️: yeah, I'm on my way now. Nat insisted on me taking a SHIELD car.
You giggled, and Loki looked up from his book, doing a double-take.
"Wow."
You laughed again. "Is that a good wow or a bad wow?" you asked.
Loki raised his eyebrows. "You look lovely." he said. You blushed, standing up. "You're exaggerating." you said.
Steve ❤️: I'm here
You nearly ran to the door, going to the elevator and jabbing the down button with your finger repeatedly.
You left the lobby, grinning sheepishly as you approached the slick black car outside the building. Steve was waiting in the back of it.
"Wow." Steve said when he saw you. You laughed again, reminded of a certain someone upstairs.
You got into the car, looking up at your apartment window. The curtains snapped shut, and you knew that Loki had been watching.
Though it was painfully obvious to you why Loki didn't trust Steve, you had no idea why something like a date mattered to him.
You soon forgot this worry, though, too preoccupied with your attempt to not make an idiot of yourself.
Luckily, Steve seemed to find the date satisfactory, and invited you to a 40s themed dance Tony was throwing that weekend. You happily accepted.
He walked you to your apartment, and you invited him in.
"Hang on a second." you said, closing the door on Steve before he could come in.
"Loki. Bedroom. Now."
Loki stood up, raising his eyebrows. "I beg your pardon?" he asked with a smirk. "I thought you were on a date with Steve. Or did it not go so well?"
He put his hand on your waist, and you smacked him. "Not what I meant." you said. "Stop trying to flirt, you creepy hobo."
"Creepy hobo?"
"Go in my room, there's a walk-in closet. Hide in there. Pleeeeeeeaaaaase?"
"Fine."
He left, and you ran to the door to open it.
"Sorry, I had to clean up a little. I haven't cleaned since Saturday." you said as you let Steve in. He smiled.
"Its fine." he said. You sat down on the couch, and he followed.
Loki's POV
I didn't go into the closet in (y/n)'s room. Instead, I made myself an illusion of invisibility and sat down in the chair next to the couch.
(Y/n) let Steve in, and they sat down on the couch. I was determined to ruin this date. If I was going to stay here, I couldn't have SHIELD running around all the time.
But then I saw it. The look of happiness on (y/n)'s face, and I couldn't bring myself to perform any act of sabotage.
Damn sentiment.
They watched TV for a while, and I watched, unsure of what I was going to do.
Steve wrapped his arm around (y/n)'s waist, and slowly touched his lips to hers.
The kiss escalated, and soon I was almost throwing up in my mouth. I also felt a strange throbbing in my chest, and I forced myself to look away. Why was this hurting me so much?
I walked to the kitchen, and knocked a glass off the counter.
The shattering of glass broke the two apart. For a second I thought (y/n) could see me, because she looked me dead in the eyes. But Steve clearly didn't see anything, so I knew my illusion was still working.
"What was that?"
"I dont know... Listen, you should probably get going. I'll see you this weekend."
They kissed for about two whole minutes before Steve finally left.
"Alright, creepy hobo, show yourself."
I took away the illusion, my hands up in surrender. "Sorry, you guys were starting to gross me out." I said.
(Y/n) rolled her eyes. "Whatever." she said as she left the room. I could tell she was mad at me, but I didn't regret making Steve leave.
I cleaned up the glass, and (y/n) came out of the bedroom wearing black shorts and a (f/c) tank top. She threw a pillow and a blanket at me, and pointed to the couch.
I caught the pillow and the blanket and walked past her into the bedroom. I laid down on the bed, still in the black sweatpants and green shirt from this morning.
"Lokiiiiiiii," (y/n) groaned, flopping down next to me. "Go sleep on the couch."
"No."
"Okay."
I smiled as she wrapped herself in the duvet, both of us drifting into a peaceful sleep.
