A New Home
We clambered out the ship and felt the ground of Berk for the first time. The island was in chaos. People running everywhere signing up and trying work out where they were staying. The local villagers were yelling, cheering and welcoming us into their home, it was a moment I wouldn't quickly forget. I felt like some hero. We only just fitted on Berk because one hundred of their Vikings had gone on a training mission and we had taken their places. We slowly grew nearer to the table where we would sign up as the que got smaller. I felt Faith's hand slip into mine, I had to admit, we were living in fear of being crushed to death. The large man at the table grinned at us happily with missing teeth and rosy-red dimples.
"Welcome to the Island of Berk! You will be staying with the Hamilton family, in house twelve. Follow the signs to Arena three and you'll pass it on the way."
We escaped the crowds and hurried towards Arena three. Just like he said, we came to a row of fifteen houses and stopped at number twelve. Taking a deep breath, I knocked heavily on the large wooden door. It creaked open and a tall, jolly man with a large belly and long plaited beard welcomed us.
"Come in, come in!"
His strong Scottish accent rang out in the little wooden house.
"That there is Me lady, Alison, me wee lass, Chirsty and..."
He turned and yelled up the stairs.
"ALEC!"
A young man with the same blue oleander flower eyes ran down the stairs startled by the yell. He had short brown hair and was wearing a brown tunic and navy blue shirt with his black pants and brown boots. I couldn't help but glance over him.
"And me boy Alec. Oh! And my name is Angus. Welcome to the Hamilton Home and family!"
Chirsty showed us to our room. It was very similar to our own room back on Eagle Foot Island.
"You'll settle in fast and, hopefully, we'll become strong friends."
Her gentle smile was the nicest thing we had seen all day. After she had left, we sat down on our beds and my sister looked out the window and distantly stared out to sea.
"You okay?"
She shrugged plainly with a sigh.
"Yeah, I miss Mum...and Dad."
I gave her a sympathetic smile ad took her hands.
"We're gonna be really happy here. We're gonna make new friends, not just people friends, but dragons too and have the time of our lives. Okay?"
She smiled back at me.
"Okay."
