"Leave me alone."
"Emea, do this for me please," Tsireya followed after her sister as she was helping a mother with their wounds. "Mother and Father said you have to help."
"I will help once I'm finished helping my people," Emea breathed out before turning to look at who she was helping. "Thank you for your patience. If there's any trouble with your baby, I will gladly be here to help you take care of it."
"Thank you," the mother mumbled, a smile spread on her lips. "Your mother and father are lucky to have you as their daughter and we are lucky we have you as our future."
Emea nodded and stood up from her kneeling position, leaving the tired mother behind with her mate. Tsireya quickly followed after her, smiling at the people who smiled at her and then chasing after her sister again.
"Look, please," the girl begged and Emea sighed, heading towards her pod where she could see the blue figures watching them. "I just want you to help me and so you could have fun. I know you're stressed with your future and I just want you to not be worried about them. Spend your remaining youth doing things you'd want."
Emea looked at her sister. Her beautiful sister. She inhaled and exhaled, shaking her head. "Fine. I'll help you."
Tsireya smiled. "Thank you, sister. I truly do thank you."
"Yeah, yeah," the oldest smiled a little at her. "Let me do some last minute stuff and I'll head towards you later."
Tsireya hummed and smiled one last time, skipping away towards the two boys and two girls who were awaiting for them. "My sister is to come later. But I do hope my brother and I can help you with what we know."
"Of course," Lo'ak nodded. "Let's just get this over with."
Tsireya and Ao'nung jumped on the water. The others followed after. Emea stood from her pod, watching them all with a frown on her face. How will she teach other people who are not born to be on the water how to swim when she learned how to swim the day she was born? She was not a good teacher. She wasn't able to explain herself.
"I know you don't know me," Emea watched as the mother of the blue kids approached her, "but I sense strength in you. I see the warrior you are and the future to your people."
Emea looked at her and she nodded. "Thank you. It's a good feeling coming from you."
Neytiri gave her a small smile before she, too, turned to look at her children. She sighed. "Please don't be too hard on them. But, if they don't listen, give them a slap to their heads. They'll listen."
The girl chuckled a little. "I will remember to do so now that I have your permission."
Neytiri could simply smile before walking away, leaving the girl to be. Emea relaxed her shoulders, remembering to breathe. She got enough praise for today. She didn't want to hear more about her strength, her bravery, she didn't want to hear anything. Sometimes it was hard to hear such praise when she felt like she could do more.
She prepared herself and in a blink of an eye, she was already in the water.
She saw a figure admiring the animals and she tilted her head curiously, approaching cautiously. She remembered her name from what her father had said and Kiri knew because of the way she pointed upwards.
Kiri followed after.
"You have a connection with them," Emea told her. Kiri listened. "It feels nice, right? To be able to know that they have such loyalty to you."
"It feels weird," Kiri started to explain. "There's not a lot of animals in the forest that belong to water. If there are, we eat—" She eyed the girl who watched her intensely. "We just aren't used to these."
"It's okay to say eat," Emea shrugged. "I won't mind." She swam around her. "If you have a connection with them, I'm sure you'll have a stronger connection with the ilu."
"Ilu?" Kiri whispered under her breath, watching as the girl got back under water and swam towards where the others remained.
Kiri went back underwater meanwhile Emea headed towards her sister as she taught one of the blue figures. She watched as Tsireya talked to him and didn't notice the other figure get to her.
"Hey."
She looked at him. "Neteyam?"
He smiled, giving her a side eye. "Emea, right?"
Emea nodded, watching her brother and his friend. "Sorry for trying to kill you earlier... I apologize."
Neteyam looked at her and the way her skin glistened under the sun. Her curly hair, longer than her sister's, was in place and strands of hair framed her face perfectly.
Nature could wait a little. He was looking at a better view.
"Eh, don't apologize," Neteyam reassured her and she glanced at him as he turned to look at her again, yellow eyes meeting hers. "I did kinda deserve it for not introducing myself."
"Well, I still would've tried to kill you if you did so," Emea replied back. "Don't find offense to it in any way, by the way. My family is everything to me as I'm sure yours is everything to you."
"Did you find me as a threat?" Neteyam questioned, a small smile spread on his lips. "I mean, I would find offense to that if you did."
"You are blue, we are not," the girl explained, continuing to stare at him. "You stood out the most and I've never seen your people so, of course, I found you as a threat."
Neteyam fully smiled. "Since you're pretty, I'll let that slide."
Everyone stared at him as soon as those words slipped his mouth and Emea gave him a plain look. "What if I was not pretty? You wouldn't have let that slide?" Neteyam noticed the challenging expression she gave and he stared. "Say more cheesy lines like that, I will succeed the next time in killing you."
Emea swam away and Neteyam stared after her retreating figure. Ao'nung spoke this time.
"She will not go after you," he said. "My sister is anything but stupid."
Tsireya slapped the back of his head. "Stop it." She looked back at Neteyam. "Look, don't take—"
"Offense to it, I know," Neteyam breathed out. "I won't. But, I wouldn't mind being killed by her."
"Bro, what is wrong with you?" Lo'ak slapped the side of his head, hoping to catch his attention. He failed. "Neteyam, open your eyes."
"I'm going to tell mom!" Tuk yelled excitedly, giggling hysterically as if she found the situation funny. She did and it was.
Tsireya giggled before clapping her hands. "Let's continue with our lesson. She'll come meet with us later."
But Neteyam didn't want her to meet them later. He wanted her to be there with them.
Whatever he felt, he really didn't mind being killed by her if her face would be the last thing he would ever see in his entire life.
