Chapter 4
Skye nudged Chase awake as the plane landed. Both looked around. As soon as they got off, they took a rental car to a hotel.
"This'll be fun," Skye said. "What do you wanna do first?"
Chase yawned, then looked at Skye tiredly. "Take a guess."
Skye laughed at her friend's sarcasm, then the two checked in.
--
"Come on Skye! It's this way!"
The cockapoo pup laughed sweetly. "Ok, what- woah."
The view was gorgeous. The sun was just about to set, birds flew past, and the sky looked almost tropical.
"It's beautiful. Thanks so much for taking me here!"
Chase blushed a little. "No problem. But, listen. The reason I took you here is because I need to tell you something. Skye, I li- no, I love you Skye. You mean so much to me, and the times I cherish the most are times that are spent with you. Everything about you is amazing- your tricks, your enthusiasm, even your bathing cap. Wait, forget about that last one. My point is, Skye, I want us to have a life together... as a couple..."
Skye simply kissed Chase on the cheek. "Chase, you have no idea how much I've been wanting you to confess."
Suddenly, Chase shot awake. "Shoot, it was just a dream," he whispered to himself.
"Chase," Skye called. "Ready to go in the Great Barrier Reef? It'll be so cool! What color fish do you think we'll see?"
Chase laughed. "Not neon green, I hope."
-
Before even five minutes in the reef, Chase sighed in defeat. "A neon green fish." Skye simply went to the surface and burst out laughing. Until that day's end, they had fun together.
Skye gasped. "Look, the sun is setting!"
The sunset was a mix of orange, pink, and yellow. Birds flew past.
"Look Skye, I've been waiting for this moment since we met."
Skye smiled. "Me too. But, Chase, I need to tell you..."
"Yea," Chase said.
"I want to be more than friends."
Chase rejoiced. he had no idea that Skye felt this way about him.
"Please tell me I'm not dreaming or something," Chase muttered.
"So..."
Chase glanced at Skye. "Yes, Skye. Being more than friends sounds wonderful."
Skye leaned on Chase's shoulder. Chase smiled. Blushing, he gave Skye a quick kiss on the cheek before staring off into the sunset.
It was better than any dream possible for Chase.
