Paul and I had been dating for two weeks. I was quite sure that he was the one for me. The way he looked at me made my knees weak. My whole body crumbled at the feel of his fingers caress my skin.

Every day I thought of how lucky and blessed I was. There were hundreds of better girls he could have been with, but he had chosen me.

My heart ached when I remembered how gorgeous the girl he had dated in high school was. She was effortlessly beautiful.

My love story had been on the right track, everything was okay, until that day, the day I found out about his secret. He had hidden something from me. Something he should have told me first, before he let me into his life.

On the fateful day, I was at his place, watching TV as he went into the bathroom.  His phone vibrated. I called out to him to come get his phone.

"Babe, its your phone," I shouted. He said words that I didn't make out properly. I shrugged.

The phone kept vibrating till it got too irritating for me to handle.

What's taking him so long? I wondered

I sat up and picked it. My eyes met the most shocking message. To my surprise, I saw a message meant to be sweet to the recipient which didn't occur  sweet to me at all. It was from a girl called Pearl.

Honey I really miss you. I cannot wait to see you tonight. I am so sorry about what happened last time but I really hope we can fix this. I love you. Pearl .

Are you kidding me? Tonight!

I just sat there in disbelief. I kept his phone in my hands and waited for him to come out of the bathroom. My blood was boiling with furry.

As soon as he was in front of me I stood, looked straight into his eyes before walking away to widen the distance between us.

"Do you mind telling me what this is?" I snapped, waving his phone mid air.

"Honey, what are you talking about?" he replied.

I handed him the phone.

"Who is Pearl? Paul don't lie to me. Do you have another girl?" I asked, my voice fading into sobs.

"Honey I can explain. It's not what you think. Jenny I love ......

I didn't wait to hear it. I slammed the door behind me before he could complete what he was saying.

What a prick! My mind seemed to say.

Torn, I felt torn apart. Torn into pieces. It never crossed my mind that Paul could be seeing another girl.

Was he dating us both? Or was someone in a place that wasn't hers?

I ran down the the flight of stairs in a confused manner. I was so disappointed and very broken. I felt my heart about to break. I got the next Bodaboda that was passing by and went home.

Rose was watching TV when I entered the house. I said nothing and rushed by her, straight to my room.

"Hey are you okay," she shouted over her shoulder.  I didn't stop. I opened and slammed the door behind me and the darkness set in.
