Prologue 4- Lynette's kindness

I was following the headmaster for a while now and were outside of the school campus.

Far from the school entrance and Main Street, we arrived at an abandoned dorm which I think was the Ramshackle dorm.

***^Ramshackle Dorm^***

Headmaster Crowley said it was unused for a couple of years, and by how it looks now, it looks like a haunted mansion, a little similar to the ones back at home at the forbidden cemetery, but it wasn't that haunted and creepy and a little bit of cleaning would help to make it this place look better.

"Okay...this place is...a little bit..."

"It is, is it not? Well then, please come inside Miss Mitchell."

***^Ramshackle Lounge^***

Crowley opened the door, revealing the lounge area, inside was of the room was little dusty, it was full of cobwebs with spiders on it, some of the furniture is a little damaged and broken, the wallpaper was tearing down, and the floor has holes and some of the wood planks are missing.

"If it's here, you can at least shield yourself from the rain and wind. I'm sorry if it's a bit unstable." Crowley said as I look around the lounge area.

"I'm going back now and please take your time fixing this place, and no loitering in the school ground!" he answered as he left.

I look at the damage in the lounge and the whole dorm, it looked like it got damaged after an endless storm.

"Alright...I hope this works..." I rolled up my sleeves.

***^The song at the top^***

With my two index fingers swaying slowly, I sang a beautiful and wonderful melody as the room sprang to life and it cleaned on its own.

"Castaway worries, My dear

For tomorrow comes a new day

Hold to me, you've nothing to fear

For your dreams are not far away

Once I started to sing, the whole Ramshackle dorm started to re-fix itself, as if it was enchanted by my singing voice, nine-tailed foxes are known to be wonderful and beautiful singers for long generations, but they are shy and never singed to anyone but they rather to it private, just like me when I was a little girl.

I really thanked my mom and Uncle Sho for teaching me this kind of power I was born within the beginning, since she, and Uncle Sho are Nine-Tails like me, we have special voices to chant anything to life.

As you lay your head and you rest

May your dreams take over my love

Listen close, my son of the west

For your destiny lies above

The holes on the floor were reappearing, the broken furniture damages are disappearing, everything else was turning the abandoned dorm to a new place.

Though the world is cruel

There's a light that still shines

In the darkest day of our lives

When all hope seems lost

And you can't find your way

Think of me as you look at the sky

Child mine, your future is bright

For your father's blood's in your veins

In dark times, I pray you will fight

For the world will soon know your name"

After the song was finished, the whole dorm was rebuild. I was actually quite surprised about how my voice had gotten stronger than before.

"Now that's better!" I smiled until I heard thunder and lightning, heavy rain fell down. I sighed when I heard it until a noticed my things were placed on the couch.

Every single item was there and nothing else was missing, but I wonder...who left them there? Did someone come here before I clean this place?

"Gahーー! Why'd it suddenly rain so heavily!?"

"What the hell?" I turned around after being alarm by that strange voice, who did I found you asked? None other than that 'Great Magician' Grim, I wasn't even surprised to see him again.

He was still locked inside that birdcage that I gave him in the entrance ceremony, and by the look of that face he has, he wasn't happy with his attempts of destroying the cage when he got kicked out of the school and was about to give up.

"Gahh!! It's you! How dare you trapped the 'Great Grim' in this birdcage! You disrespectful old hag witch!" he screamed angrily, but I didn't give him any reaction but calling me a witch along with old hag is quite rude.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah right, So...are you having fun in there? I think you've been trying to escape in there for a while now, hasn't it? 'Great Grim'."I smirked playfully, but Grim wasn't happy about my answer.

"This birdcage is unbreakable!! I have been trying to get out but it was no use! And not even bending the bars with force won't help at all!!" he bragged, I laughed at his response, of course, that cage spell is unbreakable and also a permanent spell.

"Hey! Stop laughing you human! I demand you to release me! Or I will roast you alive if you don't!" he threatened me with an angry face.

"Oh yeah? So what? Even if you try to roast me with your flames, that's not gonna work either." I replied with a sigh.

"Fgnnaaa?! How dare you! I will roast you right now-" as he tried to blow his flames at me until it backfired at him.

"Fgnnaaaa!!! Hot! Hot! Hot! Put it out! Put it out! Put it out!" he screamed, I sighed I used a spell to put out a fire that was on his tail with raindrops in the cage. After the fire was out, he was relieved.

"Didn't I tell you? Once you're trapped in there, you can't use your fire on it, it will only backfire directly at you." I answered as Grim stared at me.

"Oh right...you're magic is something else...But my fire magic is greater than yours!" Grim explained.

"For the great me, to steal back into the academy is easy as pie. You're super wrong if you think I'll give up getting into the academy just by throwing me out for a bit!" He continued, but I wasn't amused by his answer and was getting impatient with him.

"Why do you want to enroll in this school so badly then? And you have three seconds to answer my question and if not, I will make that cage even more sturdy and harder for you to escape." I warn him with angry eyes.

Grim was trembled by my warning.

"Alright! Alright! I'll talk!" He panics.

"It's a simple story! It's because I am a genius born to become a great magician! I have always been waiting for the time the black carriage would pick me up.
Even so... even so... Hm, hmph! That Mirror of Darkness also has no eyes!" He shouted with teary eyes.

"Eh? Why's that even the issue for you exactly?" I asked curiously.

"You'll never know why! That's why I came here all by myself. Those humans like you don't understand that not letting me in is a loss for them." Once he finishes his answer, he turns away and pouts sadly.

Well right now, let's be honest, kinda feel sorry for him though. But it was against the rules if he enrolls here. If he was born as a human being with magic besides his fire magic, they would allow him.

I wasn't sure about releasing Grim, until the thunder boom, it scared only Grim except for me.

"Ahh! Thunder! This place still has holes-" until he noticed the dorm was fully repaired, not a single hole on the roof was seen.

"Wait a minute...isn't this place abandoned? How did it get to repair all of a sudden?" He spoke until he turns to me.

"Did you do this?"

"Yeah, I did, it was easy to get it fixed."

"Ohh my~" a voice answered, it startled Grim but I was on guard, I stood up and turn around.

"This entire dorm has been repaired!"

"The furniture is fixed, the floor holes are gone and not a single cobweb is seen!"

"I think this young lady fixed this place with her lovely voice, how nice of her!"

Hang on a minute...that sounds like a...

Suddenly, three ghosts appeared right in front of us, one was short, the other one was skinny and the last one was chubby and fat.

"It's been a while since we've gotten a guest!" The small one smiled in delight.

"Indeed! This young lady must be a new student! We welcome you two to the Ramshackle Dorm!" The chubby one smiled.

"AHHHHH!!! GHOSTS!" Grim screamed as clung on to my robe again and was shaking like a frightened cat.

"Hey, you henchmen! I demand you to get them away from me!" The cat screamed but I pick his cage up and hold the cage in my arms.

"Don't be that scared Grim, they're just here to welcome us here, not to scare us away, right?"

The three ghosts nodded as a sign of saying yes.

"But...they are ghost though...and they are scary..." He mumbled.

"Not all ghosts are really scary, Grim, and also a great mage must be brave instead of being a frightened little pussycat." I teased.

"Yeah! You're right! I'm not scared of you three ghosts!" He protested but he was still shaking though.

We laughed at him at his answer to being brave. Until the Headmaster Crowley came.

"Miss Mitchell, I'm here to give you your uniform-" he stopped when he noticed Grim in my arms.

"You again!? How did you get back here!?" He screamed at the raccoon.

"Headmaster, can I ask you something first?" I spoke.

"Alright, Miss Mitchell, now what is it?" He questions me.

"Can you let Grim live in this house with me and the rest of the ghosts?" I asked carefully. The headmaster looks at me carefully.

"What's that? Let a monster like him live here? With you?"

"Yes, please let him, headmaster!" I begged.

Grim looked at me in surprise, "You..."

"Please headmaster Crowley, you know Grim doesn't have a place to stay after getting kicked out of the school! So this unused dorm is the only place he can stay, so please~!" I continued to beg.

The headmaster thought about it until he sighed.

"...*Sigh*... There's no helping it at all. Alright, he can stay."

I smiled at his answer and turned to Grim, who was also happy.

"Funa!? Really!?"

"However, There's no way I can let someone who wasn't chosen by the Mirror of Darkness... a monster, at that, to enroll in the school." He explained, which caused Grim to frown.

"Aww, man...there's go my happiness..."

"And also, since he is staying here, you will have the responsibility to keep on eye on him in this dorm." He explained to me.

"Yes, Headmaster, I promise to keep an eye on him," I answered.

"And for you Grim, you must stay here until Miss Mitchell comes back after school, understand?" The headmaster commanded, but Grim wasn't happy about it at all.

"No way! I wanna be a student here! I wanna wear that cool uniform!" Grim shouted and complains.

"You wanna get kicked out again?" Crowley warned him, causing the cat to flinch.

"Ah! Alright! Alright! I will..." He answered sadly.

"And Miss Mitchell here's your female uniform since your the only girl in the school, and also here's your P.E. uniform and your lab coat." He handed me over my school clothes.

"Thank you"

"You're welcome Miss Mitchell, for once since I am a kind headmaster, after all, I'll be leaving now, have a good night rest."

Once he left, I looked at my uniform, lab coat, and P.E. uniform looks like I'm ready for school tomorrow.

"Oh and Grim, you can thank me later" I smiled at him.

"I wanna go to school with you...not staying here with these ghosts..." He mumbled.

"Grim, if you cause any trouble for me, no tuna cans for tomorrow tonight's dinner," I warned him

"What!? Alright! I will stay here...Um...what's your name again? Mitchell?"

"Hahaha...that's my last name, My name is Lynette."

I released Grim from the birdcage, he was happy to be free from it.

I quickly grab my things and picked up Grim, to a clean bedroom. I settled in my new dorm as I fell asleep while Grim was sleeping on my pillows.

Tomorrow will be interesting...
