Secret

Seán woke up after what felt like only a few minutes of sleep, his phone vibrating to alert him of a message he had received.

"Chase, JJ, Robbie, we gotta go now!" Seán barked as he opened the message, scrambling off of his makeshift bed.

Chase and JJ were already waiting for Seán in the living room with Robbie, Chase armed with his gun and a fierce determined look in his eyes.

JJ held his hand out for the phone so he could see the message, Seán reluctantly complying as he walked towards the door.

"Jesus, what did he do to Doc?" Chase murmured as he peered over JJ's shoulder to see the phone while Robbie day on the floor by the pair.

On the screen was a picture of Schneep's lab coat covered in blood lying next to the shark tank, a large hole in the side of it.

"Okay, where do we look next then?" Chase wondered aloud as JJ returned Seán's phone, the mute looking sick.

"I don't know, okay?!" Seán blurted, tearing at his hair in frustration as he paced around in a circle.

JJ's expression suddenly brightened as he grabbed the two cards they already had and  left the house, Seán and Chase exchanging a confused look before following with Robbie tottering after them.

"JJ, where are you going man?" Seán called out to JJ, the mute ignoring his question and motioning for them to follow him.

JJ eventually stopped at the back Sussex Heights, an extremely tall apartment complex that made Seán feel nervous just by looking at it.

JJ winked at the trio before he looked at the nearby dumpster, a scanner popping out of the side the dumpster and scanning JJ's eyes.

"That's so cool." Seán breathed in awe as the ground underneath JJ opened up to reveal an elevator platform, Chase slapping Robbie's hand away from the garbage he was trying to eat as he, Robbie, and Seán joined JJ on the elevator before it descended.

"So, what is this place? A secret lab?" Seán spoke up excitedly, JJ writing on the notepad in his hand.

Being an actor paid well, so I used the money I had earned before my career ended to make this place to hide myself from Marvin and try to find a reverse for the antiserum.

"You don't want your powers?!" Chase exclaimed in disbelief, JJ's hand that was holding the pen hovering over the paper before he wrote something else.

I miss my normal life, I miss being able to see the sunrise and sunset without worrying that I'll be found and killed. I'm always lonely and scared.

JJ's hands shook as the elevator slowed to a stop, his head bowed to avoid looking at the others as he strode to the large computer in the center of the room.

"This place is amazing!" Seán gasped, looking around the dimly lit room with eyes wide in awe.

The lab was filled with all kinds of chemistry equipment and was lit up by the blue light of the computer and the round lights bolted to the walls, allowing Seán to see the chemistry equipment that filled the room.

"What're you doing?" Chase questioned JJ, warily watching Robbie through the corner of his eye in case he decided to wander off.

JJ's eyes remained focused on the screen on the computer as his fingers danced around the keyboard, the mute occasionally glancing over at the cards as he typed.

"He's tracking the codes!" Seán exclaimed, JJ nodding as a map of Brighton filled the screen, four dots lightning up on various places of the map.

"Ah ah ah, cheating is bad."

Seán stepped away from the computer as Marvin's voice emanated through it, the computer sparking and sending bolts of electricity arcing across JJ's body.

"JJ!" Chase cried, the mute's mouth open in a silent cry as he struggled to pull his hands off of the computer keyboard.

"Robbie help." Robbie grunted as he grabbed JJ, bolts of electricity from JJ burning the zombie's skin as he held the mute in his arms.

"JJ, you okay?" Seán spoke up, the mute's eyes unfocused as he held onto Robbie to help him stay standing, lightning scars peppering his body and his clothes burned.

"Shit, Marvin must've put a virus in the code that would make the computer break." Chase cursed, JJ's eyes abruptly fluttering shut as his body fell towards the floor.

Robbie caught JJ and carefully laid him down on the floor, the purple haired zombie allowing JJ to use him as a pillow as he curled up on the floor in a ball.

"We still gotta find Schneep somehow." Chase murmured thoughtfully, JJ stirring slightly in his unconscious state.

"And watch JJ." Chase added, his expression grim as he glanced over at the unconscious mute.

"Well, I can help with one of those things." Seán grinned mischievously, opening his phone to show a picture of the map before the computer malfunctioned.

"Okay, it says that there's three in here and one on Brighton Pier." Chase mused as he looked at the picture.

"Three? But we only have two here." Seán frowned, using his x-ray vision as he looked around him for other cards.

"Got it!" Seán cheered as he looked at the computer, the spade card hidden inside the computer screen.

"Careful." Chase warned as Seán punched the screen, cracking it so he could reach inside and take the card.

"Let's see if I can pull the code up on my phone." Seán mumbled under his breath as he worked, JJ waking up just as Seán broke the code.

"Hopefully Schneep is still alive, wherever he is." Chase remarked as Seán played the video, sitting on the floor by JJ as he recovered.

"Ah, glad to see that my puzzles aren't too challenging for you! Abc I know you're all so worried about your friend, but he's doing just fine." Marvin stated with a grin, moving out of the camera frame to show Schneep still held above the shark tank.

"Hey, stop that!" Marvin shouted as Schneep managed to swing his body forward and backwards, creating enough momentum to let him grab a razor sharp card from Marvin and free himself.

The German fell to the ground and started to crawl away, blood pooling around him from the wound in his side.

"Fine, I guess I'll have you be my assistant while I preform the magic." Marvin huffed in irritation as he walked over Schneep, looking over at the camera as the sound of breaking bone echoed through the room before the video ended.

"We just have to find one more at the pier. JJ, you think you're okay enough to walk?" Seán questioned JJ, the mute nodding as Chase helped him to his feet.

JJ grabbed his notepad and pen off of the desk before writing, occasionally having to stop when his hands would start to shake uncontrollably.

Thank you for saving me Robbie, I would be dead or worse if you hadn't pulled me away when you did.

"Yay Robbie help!" Robbie cheered happily, earning smiles from the others.

"Speaking of help," Chase chimed in as he returned to the elevator.

"I think it's about time we finally help Marvin realize that he's messed with the wrong people."
