Beneath the Cross
Beneath the Cross
Our Savior rests upon
the Cross.
The wood entrenched atop
the globe.
His blood hath run in rivers
straight.
O'er all the world it hath
spread.
Oh sweetest wood,
Oh sweetest nails,
Oh precious blood!
Come, let us, bending knee, adore!
Rest, oh weary soul; beneath the Cross
most pure.
Prostrate there upon the
ground.
His blood running o'er thy
loving tears.
Oh sweetest wood,
Oh sweetest nails,
Oh precious blood!
Come, let us, bending knee, adore!
Magdalene doth weep beneath
the wood.
Our mother dear hath stood there
below.
As His precious blood hath
flowed;
In rivers o'er all the
earth.
Oh sweetest wood,
Oh sweetest nails,
Oh precious blood!
Come, let us, bending knee, adore!
Oh holy Cross that hath
redeemed.
Bless us now once
more.
As the blood that stains thee
cries aloft!
Oh sweetest wood,
Oh sweetest nails,
Oh precious blood!
Come, let us, bending knee, adore!
My heart doth sing with joy at the wood that
hath redeemed me.
My heart cries out in sorrow at the five
most precious wounds;
Dripping blood for my
salvation.
Oh sweetest wood,
Oh sweetest nails,
Oh precious blood!
Come, let us, bending knee, adore.
Come, let us rest beneath the
wood.
Embrace and kiss His
aching feet.
Let His blood flow over
us.
As we do homage to the
King of all.
Remember now oh,
sweetest child.
The scars that Christ thy Lord
doth bear.
Remember now the pain He
hath endured.
Adore and glorify thy Savior who hath
redeemed the world!
Oh sweetest wood,
Oh sweetest nails,
Oh precious blood.
Come, let us, bending knee, adore.
