« Unexpected meeting »
For at least a long time I kept running and changing streets to make sure they couldn't find me if they tried to catch up with me. Even if I didn't know how, I had the strength to run for several more hours, I think it must be the effect of adrenaline that triggered my survival mode, which will explain where the energy comes from that my body uses.
I think I ran for more than forty minutes having changed route several times. When I no longer felt the danger, I finally managed to calm myself down and sit on the ground. I took deep breaths, closed my eyes and gradually I began to feel the pain in my limbs. Proving that the effect of adrenaline was indeed diminishing.
I opened my tired eyes to be able to see the extent of the damage my body had suffered since the men I had fought had not gone out of their way.
Going up my skirt, I saw several bruises covering all my legs. I also had a few bleeding wounds in my arms and ribs, which must have been caused by the sharp jewelry my attackers were wearing. I took my phone, which was in my bag, which luckily had been on me all evening. And using the camera mode I saw that I had fortunately only a slight scratch at the level of the temple, but nothing serious.
After a few minutes sitting on the ground, I got up and tried to look for a small grocery store where I could buy something to drink and something to remove from my hands the blood of the man I had pushed to his death, to find myself again.
- Hey! Excuse me !
I felt a hand land on my shoulder, and I automatically went into defensive mode, not knowing if he was part of the attacking group that attacked me, or just a passerby.
-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, he said to me when he saw me in the state I was in. I saw you in this state from afar and wanted to see if you were okay or if you needed help.
-Yes, it was quite a difficult evening for me. I replied when I saw that he was not mean.
-I see that but I hope it will be ok. He said to me, passing me a handkerchief with which I tried somehow to remove the blood that had dried. I think there is a small convenience store not far away. Come on, we'll buy you a bottle of water and something to try to wash it all off. And take my jacket if you didn't want to catch a cold.
With these words, he gave me his jacket which I took without complaining then I followed him.
A few meters later, he asked me to wait in front of the supermarket while he could take what I needed. And having some money on me, I had no problem paying but he didn't want to take anything and left me the money I offered him.
After a few minutes, he came out with a small bag.
- I took what I could find. He said, passing me a chocolate bar. I don't know if you like it but had to eat something sweet. This will prevent you from getting hypoglycemia and ending up on the floor.
- Thank you, I did not expect so much, but thank you for this attention.
- It's normal, but if you don't mind, could we go in my car? I left it next to where I found you. Of course you don't have to accept or anything, it's just so you can sit down and wash your face quietly. I swear to you that I will not attempt anything bizarre.
-I cross you and I don't mind following you.
We therefore left in the direction of his car next door. Paying closer attention, I noticed that he was a handsome boy. He was a bit taller than me, possessed short brown hair with some red streaks. I hadn't seen the color of his eyes very well, but I think they must have been brown. I don't have time to really analyze him but he didn't seem to be bad.
He opened the door of his car for me and let me settle in before closing the door and going to sit in the driver's seat.
-Thank you very much for all that, it's really very human of you.
-Oh, no worries, it's totally normal to help someone in need, otherwise you can always call me Tom if you want.
-Yes, no worries Tom, and my name is Daniella.
- Nice to meet you Daniella, even if I would have liked to know you in other circumstances.
"Me too, but we can't help it," I told him, taking the wipes he had bought me and washing myself with them.
-How did you manage to get all those bruises? He asked me at the sight of all my bruises and scratches.
-So to court and simple, I started, a man had decided to piss me off and after several categorical refusals on my part, he got angry and threw his acolytes after me and all that in a party.
-And it is these men who afflicted you with all these blows?
-Exact.
- But how is it that your hands are covered with blood? Because having this amount of blood is not normal.
-My attackers had pulled out a knife and my reflex was to use one of the men as a shield which saved my life. But I don't know if he's dead or not, before everyone applied, I took the opportunity to run away. I explained to him, finishing to remove the blood that was on my body.
-I understand better, but you know that you were very lucky to be alive.
-Yes, I can see how lucky I am, but I'm still sad that there was no other alternative. I didn't want any of this to happen or anyone to die tonight.
-It's not your fault, you only defended yourself.
For a moment neither of us spoke, which made the moment a little awkward, but I was starting to feel the fatigue of the whole evening.
- Do you want me to take you back?
- Yes, if you don't mind. I tell him giving him my address.
I did everything in my power not to sleep in that car, because I was sure that I wouldn't have the strength to get up. The whole ride was quiet, but personally that didn't bother me since I think I probably didn't have enough energy left to even try to have a conversation.
About thirty minutes later, he stopped in front of the door of my building, and gave me a light pat that brought me back to consciousness.
- Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you.
- No worries, it's normal after what you've been through. In case you need anything, I have saved my phone number in your phone book.
-After everything you've done, I won't be able to bother you any more.
- Do not hesitate to contact me really!
-Thank you for everything and have a good evening! I added leaving his car.
He greeted me then left letting me enter my building.
I don't know if meeting Tom is a blessing in itself, but I know he should never have crossed my path.
