Chapter 7

A/N Man, I think this is the most motivated I've ever been to write. It's all coming out now! Please check out my new original story 'His World'. Lots of love, EV!

Reggie let his breath go out all at once.

"You're gonna wanna sit for this."

Luke and Alex complied immediately, sinking into the couch. Willie and Julie cautiously settled in next to Alex and Luke respectively.

"So there's a couple things you don't know about me. Actually, unfortunately, there's quite a few. The first is that I'm not 19 like Alex. I'm 21. I was held back a year because of some stuff going on at home, and I was about a year older than everyone in my class anyway so I just became two years older. The second is I'm married. The third is when we died, she was 7 months pregnant." Reggie thought it was best to let it all out at once.

Luke opened his mouth to probably yell or something, but Julie beat him to it. "There's more. Let's hear it." Luke closed his mouth and crossed his arms. Alex just kind of let his mouth hang open.

"She gave birth and had three kids. I thought she was having two. She named then after us. Alexis, Luna-Louise, and Regina. Nicknamed Lexi, Lulu and Gina." Realization crossed over Julie's face but this didn't seem to have the same effect on the rest of them. "She was a ballerina. I met her at church. I was friends with her twin brother. He took the kids when she died during a performance. She's a ghost now, she's the only one who can come and go from the Hollywood Ghost Club without one of these bracelets.

"We got married a year before the Orpheum. I didn't tell you guys about her because when we were together, I was always a bit worried she would break up with me, because she's her and I'm me, and I didn't want you guys to meet her until I was sure we were forever. And then we got married, spontaneously, and suddenly I had waited too long to tell you. And then Lily got pregnant, and suddenly I had to deal with the fact that I was going to be a dad, and everything turned upside down. That's why I used to miss rehearsals sometimes, and why I couldn't do afternoon rehearsals. I had to work part-time at a bodega until we got the Orpheum gig, so that I could provide for her and the kids."

Luke stood and left without saying a word. Reggie knew he wouldn't be mad forever, but was still happy when Julie stood up and followed him with an apologetic look on her face. Reggie turned to the two ghosts left, Willie and Alex.

"Alex...I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I swear I was going to before the kids were born, I wanted you guys in their lives."

Alex nodded. "I think I get it. You were in love with her. And while you knew we would love her too, there's a part of you that wondered what if we didn't. I just wish you would've told us. If she was really the one for you, we wouldn't've cared."

Reggie smiled, happy that Alex understood. "I'm gonna, I'm gonna go see if I can find them.  Probably not, but I'm gonna try. I'll get pulled back to the Hollywood Ghost Club at midnight which gives me two hours. I'll see you guys next Friday morning, so try to get a gig by then, OK?" Alex nodded and Reggie took a step backwards and disappeared.

***

He reappeared at his brother-in-law Logan's old house. Logan was Lily's twin younger brother and he apparently took the kids when Lily died, so it was a long shot, since they would be 25 years old now. But the lights were on and there were people sitting around a long table, laughing and eating. There was a middle-aged man with blue eyes and brown greying hair, sitting at the head of the table. Clearly Logan. He was always a bit of a goof. But what caught his eye were the people sitting around the table. There were three blue-eyed women who looked nearly identical, their only differences being one girl who wore thick black-framed glasses, one girl with thin wire-frame glasses, and one not wearing any. The woman with the black glasses was trying to feed a small toddler in a high chair and there was a man next to her distracting the child, so it wouldn't spit out the food. The woman with the thin round glasses was sitting with an arm around a person with short bright blue hair. The person was gesturing animatedly and everyone was laughing except the girl with the thin glasses who was laughing, but also staring at the person adoringly. The final girl with no glasses was sitting next to a boy with blonde hair who held her hand and kept glancing over at her shyly. Reggie smiled seeing how they all had partners who seem to love them, and that they loved.

He poofed into the house to listen to them better. The laughter was just dying off and Logan stood up with his glass and started to speak.

"Now, I know it's my birthday, and I know I say this every year, but it's also Lexi, Lulu, and Gina's mother's birthday. Oscar, I know I told you this when you and Lexi got married, but this one is to Hunter and Rowan." He addressed the first part to the man next to the child, and the second part to the man with the blond hair and the person with the blue hair.

"Lexi, Lulu and Gina never knew their father, but I try to tell them all about him. His name was Reggie Peters, and he was part of a 1990s band called Sunset Curve. But what's important is that, Reggie and Lily were so completely and utterly in love with each other. The way Reggie looked at Lily was something I knew I wanted for Lexi, Lulu and Gina. And now that Rowan and Lulu are engaged, and now that I can see the way Hunter and Gina look at each other, I think maybe, you guys have actually found something like Reggie and Lily did. Goodness know I've wondered if it were possible."

Reggie's eyes were tearing up and he quickly wiped them away. He felt a poof next to him and looked over to see Lily standing next to him in the doorway.

"I wish we could be here with them." Reggie said, sorrowfully.

"I wish for that too. I wish they could see us." Lily replied. Reggie looked at her, surprised, before remembering that he hadn't told her about his ability.

"What?" Lily asked, noticing the way he was watching her.

"If I think I want them to see me, they'll see me. It worked on Julie's little brother, and it didn't before. I bet it would work on them." Reggie said.

"They're better off not knowing."

"I know. I just...really do wish we could be with them." Reggie told her.

Just then, Lexi looked straight up and directly at him. And then she started screaming.
