Chapter two: The judgment 

My heart pounded hard in my chest as we were put before the council. It's supposed to be hammering because I was about to be a judge, so I don't know what destiny I 'm going to have. If I am going to be locked up or drop out, down to the ground. I do not want to get drop because I am not going to last a day out there. Perhaps they are going to be soft on me because this is my first crime. It was hammering, though, as I see Haven and the outfit, he wears with the red stripes on his arm clearly indicate that he was now one of the Orders. Why is this possible when no one has yet taken their examination? My eyes bulge out of their sockets as I look at him holding a gun in his hand.

When Tahlia has sung her hair back and his eyes landed on both of us, uncertainty lined his face. His eyes shift quickly from me to Tahlia.

"I was meant to tell you, Tate." Tahlia whispers to me, "most of the boys have been recruited for an early exam because they want some of the Orders to go out with the Sky Landers to do some research. Haven was one of them, and he passed the test with distinction, and he completed the training. "Is that Haven's dream job since he was a child, but an early recruitment job? I 'm staring at his messy hair, his beautiful eyes, and the sexy lips that I wish I could kiss right now before I talk to Tahlia.

"You know how? "I blame Tahlia, she's supposed to tell me. She was aware of how I felt about Haven. He is the only boy I have ever been in love with, and she knows that the only reason I am staying inside is that I did not have any other options. So, she was supposed to tell me about everything that was going on outside, particularly if it involved my man.

"Remember that the two of you have history, and he does not know we are twins, he doesn't know that I'm not you, so one day, when I ate lunch, he comes over and tells me. He really loves you, Tate, and I am sorry I could not let you both be together.

"You were supposed to tell me Tahlia. You were not supposed to keep something that big from me.

"I 'm sorry, all right. I made my choice not to tell you because it was the best thing to do. "I look at her as the blood dries on her face.

"I know that. You have always protected me; please, let me protect you now. "I beg her. If we both say that we have committed this crime, then they are likely to punish both of us.

Everyone stops what they have been doing, their eyes widen as they look at us, and then the gossip starts. I have heard someone say twins, how are they both alive? I ignore the rest of them because they 're going to be the same questions, and none of them can help us out of this situation.

"Madam Snowden, I'm bringing you the guilty ones," Jacob Greene says as we approach the council.

"Twins, what kind of sick game is that? Bring them to my office. "She gets up from her highchair and walks to her office. "And everyone get back to what you've been doing," she shouts before disappearing around the corner.

"I'm going to handle it from here," Jacob Greene said to his men as he escorted us to the office of Mrs. Snowden. Jacob was the man all the girls had a fantasy about. He 's got thick muscles, a sexy six-pack with a well-sculpted V, and a sexy pair of green eyes. I saw him work out once, shirtless. I do not have a fantasy about him because he is not my type, and I bet Tahlia's going to stop talking about him right after the jaw-breaking box he gave her.

We 're going down the hallway, and Jacob Greene is trying to hold my arms. And I am using my elbow to shield him. "Don't touch me, man. I can walk. "I said to him.

"You 're fiery with all the trouble you've gotten yourself into." He smiles at me.

"Why did you have to take both of us? I thought we had a thing. "Tahlia says to him.

"If I did not take you both, then one of the other Orders would have informed Madam Snowden that you are twins. I did not even know that you were a twin.

"Guess there's a lot of things you don't know about Jacob," I laughed at him.

"Why did you hit me with that? "Ask Tahlia.

"I've got to. I cannot be soft, and I cannot let them know that we're together. If someone else had been sent, it would be a lot harder for both of you to be so thankful. "Maybe I'm the one who doesn't know anything at all.

"You guys are romantic, huh? "I 'm asking. I would like to gag the thought of making them out.

"She didn't know anything about us. "Jacob is questioning Tahlia.

"I'm so sorry"

"Shut it Tahlia. I do not want to hear anything. "Is that why Haven gave me an stank-eye earlier?

"Does Haven know about the two of you? "I got stuck in the room and she was out here exchanging salvia with Jacob Greene. I think we have got something for the Orders.

"I don't know."

"You two will work out your differences later." Jacob Greene whispers as we reached the office of the Lady.

She was sitting at her desk, intertwining her fingers. "Thank you so much, Jacob. You may be waiting outside at the door. He is nods and leave.

"I have come to understand that one of you has committed treason and, on top of that, you are twins. It is all wrong, and I am so angry.

"Which of you were spying on us? "She asks.

"I did." We both say at the same time. What does Tahlia not understand by letting me take the blame?

"Which of you is Thalia? t "She questions while looking us. Tahlia was raising her hand.

And what is your name? She gestures towards me.

"Why do you even want to know if you're going to drop me?

"Who said anything about a drop darling?

""I'm not your darling." She thinks I do not know she is an evil bitch.

"I ask again, what is your name?

"She stumps her hands on the desk, as if it would affect me.

"This is Tate. Her name called Tate. "Tahlia yells.

"Why don't you cooperate like your sister Tate?" she looks at me.

"I don't understand why Tahlia must be so weak and frightened. She is breaking too easily. She must let them know that she does not fear them, even if she does.

I look in the eyes of Snowden as she focuses her attention on us.

" Now, I'm going to ask you again. One of you has heard valuable information that can never be a leak to the public, and I demand to know which one of you is. "Tahlia and I look at each other. I 'm nervous as heck, to be honest. I am like an eggshell, and any little thing could crack me.

"Now! "She yells so loud that the room is shaking. "I like to let you know who's in charge here."

"I know about the trees," I said, surprisingly. "And I-" I pause for a brief second and look at Thalia because I did not know what Tahlia had heard, and I am not going to let her know that I'm lying to her. I do not know anything else about the trees.

"Would you like her to know what else I'm going to say," I put a smirk on my face. Her eyes get hard and her face rigid.

I swallow nervously as I look at her.

"Jacob!" "She's calls and he's emerges immediately. His eyes met Tahlia for a brief second, and his lips had a tiny smile enough for her to see. If I did not know that they were a thing I would not have caught that smile.

"Yes, Madam Snowden," he answers. He held his hand behind him as he listened to what she was about to say. I 'm listening to what she's about to say.

"Please release Tahlia from her handcuffs and escort her out. She 's free to go. "I was relieved, but I can see a single drop of tears running down her cheek.

Jacob is nodding. He removed Tahlia's handcuffs and escorted her out. As soon as the door closes. Madam Snowden gets up from around her chair, grab a hold of my arms and push up my sleeves, my heart begins to beat faster than it already beats.

"Unnumbered, undocumented, and you have committed treason, and you have valuable intel. You are not wanted here. You were never supposed to be here in the first place. How was your mother able to hide and protect you so well? She has everyone. But now you have gotten big and you cannot stay in your cage any longer. "I haven't thought about my mother since I was arrested.

Is she looking for me? Did she hear that we were discovered? Is Tahlia on her way to her right now?

"Are you going to drop me? Do not hurt my mom, please. She did what any mother should do to protect her child.

"Your mother is one of the best healers we've got, but she needs to be punished."

"Are you going to let her watch me get dropped just as you let her watch her dad get dropped?" I asked. And secretly, I was hoping she would not drop me and forgive me the way she forgives Thalia.

"Who said anything about dropping you? That is too long. "Her lips are twisted by a sly grin, and her eyes turn to stone. "You 're going to be executed tomorrow." I almost shit myself.
