CHAPTER ONE: THE SECRET OF THE TWINS

A smile curve upon my lips as I remembered that kiss in the corner of the bathroom. If males were found in the female bathroom they would be in a lot of trouble. Instead, he took the risk to come and confess his love for me. In return, I expressed my love for him too... except I had to end our relationship

As I  open my eyes, all I see is white. The same color I see everyday for my sixteen years of existence. And no I'm not in mental institution.

Everyone here in Skyrus was only  allowed to wear white. The heads said white is a clean colour, it’s breathable and it makes the air feel filtered. No one is allowed outside of the building except for the sky landers. I don’t know what their job entails on the outside but that’s the job I want to do after examination. I know it’s pretty stupid wanting to do a job without knowing what it entails but I want to see the outside. I want to see what makes it different from us up here. Sky Landers always wear oxygen when they exist the building because we were told that no live is on the outside. No one can eat, breathe or survive on the outside. I-

“Tate! Tate! You need to hide!” My sister rushes into the room.

“What is it now Thalia?” I ask her getting up from the bed.

“The Orders are coming.” Her eyes widen as she beings to panic.  She grab me by the arm as she attempt to push me in the closet. But I pull my arms from her grip.

“Not this time. What did you do?”

“There is no time to explain.”

“What if they lock you up? I need to know.” I looked into her eyes as tears run from mine.

“I was spying on the Leaders. I was listening to their conversation”

“Are you mad Tahlia? That is treason."

“I know but I couldn’t help but listen.”

“What did you hear?”

“I can’t tell you.”

“Tahlia you have to tell me. If you get arrested or even worst they might drop you. “No one wants to be dropped on the outside that was left in rumbles after the war. And I’ve heard that there is lots of radiation on the outside. No one can survive on the outside. “Someone needs to know’”

“But you can never go meet with your friends ever again.”

“I will do my best to survive.”

“The trees are dying” her eyes were focus on the outside every now and then to see if the Orders are near.

“Evergreen trees don’t die”

“That’s the point. Something is killing the trees and they don’t know what it is, if this continue then-“her speech was cut with loud footsteps on the outside.

“You have to hide and no matter what don’t come out.” She shoves me in the closet and the door burst open.

“Tahlia Archer you have committed treason.”

“I did nothing.” She said as she puts on her bravest face.

“Arrest her “someone shouts but Thalia insist on telling them she did nothing wrong. She resists the arrest and one of the Orders whose name is Jacob Greene hit her in the face with is gun. Her head sung back and when she lifts her head her face blood was dripping.

“Hold out your hands.” Jacob command again and stubborn Thalia resist again.

“What did I do? I did nothing wrong.”

“You know pretty well what you have done.” One of the Orders said. I couldn’t see his face as he was closest to the door.

“Haha, this is a joke right. I have been here all evening. I did absolutely nothing wrong.” I know she’s trying her best to allow us to live the double life. She has always been protecting me.

“So come with us and let the Leaders decide your fate.” She looks around and her eyes meet mine for a brief second. I could see her thinking what to do and the tears falls harder from my eyes. I know she’s resisting this arrest because of me. I see Jacob nod to one of the Orders and my eyes follows. He has the Taser in is hand to shock Tahlia. She has to go because if that Taser touch her she will go into shock or worst die.

“I did it. I was the one.” I find myself saying as I emerge from the closet.  All eyes move towards me.

“Tate no, get back in! I told you to stay. I told you not to move” She screams at me.

"Their is two of you?” Edwin asks. Everyone face was in shock.

“How is this possible” another person asks.

“Arrest them both” Jacob commands and I held my hands for the cuffs and my sister did the same.

“You have no clue what you have done Tate, no idea.” Tahlia whispers as we walk away in handcuffs.

We walk in silence surrounded by ten Orders; we haven’t committed a big crime.  Everyone stops what they were doing and all eyes were focused on us. They are not wondering what crime we committed they are wonder why there is two of us. Tahlia and I are identical twins, no one was allowed to have a twin, and no one should have a look alike. Twins are always terminated during pregnancy or they get rid of one of the baby the moment they are born but my mother did a pretty damn good job at hiding us, until now, until I came out of the closet and ruins everything that she tried so well to protect. That’s why Tahlia and I are never allowed to go on the outside at the same time. We did a pretty good job in fooling everyone until I kissed Haven and Tahlia hate his guts, things gets complicated and he starts to wonder what’s with the mood swings so to keep things under wraps I haven’t left the room in three months and I feel like I was suffocating. If I haven’t ended things with him and  stay in the room for the last three months I know he would have discover our little secret that we are twins and I’m  not sure where is loyalty lies because his jobs is to join the Orders after his examination.  These people who thinks they sure all mighty and that, as the name suggested they are the one who make sure everything is going smoothly and they find the wrong doers.
