Disappointments

Hello I haven't done of these in a while but in this story the characters are all 21 and older except Bella. Enjoy.

A special day was approaching fast and time caught Bella getting dressed to go to a friend's house.

"Do you even know where you're going?"

"No. I'm about to call her and get the exact address. I've passed by her house before at least if that makes you feel better."

"Why do I see this ending badly?"

"Because you never support anything I do that doesn't involve you planning."

"I didn't plan it but I know what's going on at least and I'm telling you from now it's gonna be a failure. Cut your losses while you still can and call all this off."

"Taiga calm down. I can't call any of this off because I don't even know what it is. Besides she went to great lengths to plan this party for me so why would I let her down now?"

"Bella use your head here. This is the same girl who tells you she can't hang out with you anymore because she's tired. She's had you go places and then cancel on you at the last minute. I'm just saying that I don't trust it."

"You never trust anything. Why can't you be happy for me that someone is actually going to great lengths to make my birthday special and that person isn't you."

"Because I know more than you do and I'm telling you it's not gonna work. But I'll step back and let you have your moment."

"Love you darling. Now come on let's go. The taxi is outside." Bella kisses Kishibe's cheek and led him outside to the waiting taxi.

Thirty minutes later the pair arrive at their destination and are standing outside trying to reach Bella's friend.

"Did you get her yet?"

"No not yet. I hope she's alright."

Kishibe sat on the steps leading to the apartment building and watched Bella pace back and forth trying to get her friend.

"Just give up Bella. She's not gonna answer. Let's go home. It's getting chilly out here."

"No. I know she's gonna answer. Just another five minutes. Please?"

Kishibe took his phone out and started playing a game. Without realizing thirty minutes had gone past and they were still outside.

"Alright Taiga let's go. She's not picking up." Bella sighed and put her phone away kicking a stone in the process.

Just as Kishibe stood up his phone rang and a familiar name flashed across the screen.

"Where are you? We've been standing outside for almost an hour now. We're about to leave." Kishibe raised an eyebrow to the response he was given and rolled his eyes. "Listen I don't know what you think you're doing but so help me it won't end pretty if she gets upset. We're outside."

As he whispered the last part the door buzzer went off and the two entered the apartment and went into their friend's home.

"I'm so sorry Bella I don't how but I fell asleep and I know you're usually always late so I assumed that you wouldn't be here for another thirty minutes but that's not important right now. How are you feeling? Your birthday is soon."

Bella giggled and smiled slightly, "I know. I haven't been this excited for my birthday in a few years. Are you finally going to tell me what you're planning?"

"Not a chance. The hairdresser should be here in hopefully ten minutes. In the meantime do you guys want some water or some food?" Kurumi sweat dropped when she saw Kishibe playing with one of her cats and Bella trying to pull him away. "I guess not."

"I doubt you have anything that I can eat. Peanut allergies remember? You almost killed me once." Kishibe smirked and threw Bella over his shoulder.

"Oh yeah how could I forget. I still feel really bad about that sorry. "Kurumi scratched the back of her head and looked away from the pair.

"Nah it's alright. I didn't die. Don't worry too much about it." Kishibe threw Bella on the couch and sat on her.

"Do you guys ever act your age?" Kurumi watched the wrestle a little until Bella gave up.

"This fool started it. Get off of me."

"When you say please." Kishibe smirked at Bella and blew her a kiss.

Bella sighed and sat in a comfier position with him on top of her. Just then the doorbell rang and Kurumi let in the hairdresser. After pleasantries we're exchanged Bella was sat in the chair getting her hair done.

Time skip

"This is really nice. You did a very good job."

"I appreciate that. Recommend your other friends to me. I go by appointments and walk-ins. I only came to your house because of special occasion. But enjoy and a happy birthday to you."

"Aww Bella you look so cute. Now to finish getting you decorated. The makeup artist is here. Time to get beautiful." Kurumi sang.

"She's always beautiful." Kishibe smiled at her and chuckled when she blushed.

"Yeah but you know what I mean."

Time Skip

"Ok now look."

Bella looked in the mirror and tried not to cringe. The makeup artist had just finished and she hated the look. She glanced at Kishibe to see him looking at her with slight concern. Before he could say anything she smiled and complimented the job done.

"Oh wow look at you Bella. You look so beautiful. I love this look." Kurumi wiped an imaginary tear and admired her friend.

"Thank you. It's a bit much for me but it was done really well. Aren't we late to get to where we're suppose to be?" Bella questioned.

Kurumi waved her off and ignored another call on her phone. "Don't worry about that. You're the star of the party. You're suppose to be late. Besides this is you we're talking about. Now go get dressed. Both of you. Your outfits are on my bed." Kurumi pushed them into her room and closed the door behind them.

"This is all happening so fast. But we're really behind time. I hope the people she invited aren't upset." Bella said.

"Even if they are what can you do?" Kishibe shrugged. "Alright birthday girl let's get you suited up. Your celebration awaits."

With each other's help the couple managed to get dressed and stepped out to see Kurumi getting the finishing touches of her makeup done.

"You're getting dolled up too?" Kishibe asked confused.

"Of course. I'm the host. I can't go there looking bad. But look at you two. Matching in white and all cute. Definite goals." Kurumi squealed and checked her hair in the mirror.

"I feel ridiculous. Why did I have to get a new outfit too?" Kishibe asked while tying his hair up in a bun.

"Because you're her date. And I can't have you coming in orange or green when she's in white. It messes up the look of the party. Now let me get dressed then we can leave."

Bella and Kishibe watched Kurumi disappear and reappear wearing a new dress and shoes. "Can you please buckle these for me please Kishibe?"

Kishibe raised an eyebrow but bent down and helped her with her shoes. Bella stood in her spot and compared her look with her friend's look. She was wearing a dress with rhinestones that looked like it was for a child while Kurumi's dress hugged her curves in all the right places. Her shoes looked better than Bella's and so did her hair and makeup. Bella shrugged and checked herself in the mirror one last time before picking up the bag she was given and leaving out with everyone else.

When the arrived at the party venue the music could be heard from the outside and Bella saw one of their coworkers standing outside. When she stepped out of the car her coworkers waved her over and gave her a hug. Kurumi caught you to them and also gave the coworker a hug.

"The entrance is over there you guys. Have your IDs ready." The trio lined up and one by one had their IDs checked and everyone except Bella was let in.

"I told you this would happen. Her birthday isn't for another two days remember. She's still underage." Kishibe sighed and shook his head.

"No I called and they said that it would be perfectly fine for her to get in once it's less than seven days for her birthday to arrive." Kurumi tried to argue with the guards but stormed inside to find a manager.

Thirty minutes passed and Bella was still standing outside with Kishibe keeping her company. "So how does it feel to be locked out of your own party?"

"It feels very cold. It wasn't this cold earlier." Bella burrowed her way into Kishibe's arms and stole some of his warmth.

He smiled at the cold jellybean pressed against him and stroked the top of her head "We can always go home like I suggested earlier."

"I would love that. It's cold and this is embarrassing. I want to go home."

A second later Kurumi reappears outside with a sad look and a big box. She gave the box to Kishibe and hugged Bella tight with the other coworkers who came to support them.

"I am so sorry Bella but they won't let you in. I managed to ruin your birthday I am so sorry. I got you a cake. But enjoy the cake and sorry you can't get in. Do you want me to wait with you until your ride gets here?" Kurumi smiled.

"No it's alright. I have Taiga. But thanks again for organizing this celebration for me." Bella hugged Kurumi and got into another cab on her way home.

Time Skip

"So Bella what have we learned? Once again." Kishibe pulled her head into his lap and wiped away the stray tear.

"No need to rub it in. You were right and I was wrong again now please drop it."

"Of course. I'm sure by now everyone is home thinking about how they can salvage the night."

"Yeah true. But I doubt that's the case. Knowing how my coworkers are, everyone is probably inside partying anyway. They're all gonna laugh at me come Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if she planned all of this just to have a good reason to make fun of me." Bella sighed and wiped another tear that fell from her eye.

"It's alright if they do. You still have me."

"Even so. Look at how she ruined tonight. She looked better than I did, she picked the one place I couldn't get into, she practically ruined my good image."

"Well the night isn't over yet. We can always do something to make it better. Want to go on a date with me?" Kishibe smiled at her.

Bella blushed and looked away from him. "Sorry but I don't really want to go anywhere. I just want to go home and curl up in my bed."

"Ouch. Rejected by my own girlfriend. What a cruel world. But it's fine. I have a hoodie you can sleep in tonight."

"That sounds wonderful right now. Thanks Taiga."

Small time Skip

"Before I forget Bella. Here you go."

Bella turned around and was greeted by a big bouquet of roses.

"Wait what's this?"

"Happy birthday. I heard you telling a friend at your cafe that you wanted flowers really badly and so I thought they'd make the perfect birthday gift. It's early I know but you're upset and I can't leave you like this."

Bella took the flowers out let out a quiet sob.

"I don't know what to say. Thank you Taiga." Bella looked up at him smiled as another sob left her.

Her eyes glazed over and she shook as her smile dropped and a loud cry left her lips. Her vision blurred and Bella fell to her knees completely overwhelmed by her feelings.

Kishibe stood frozen in shock when she broke down but immediately jumped into action when she fell on her knees.

"It's not far Taiga! Why me?! Three crappy birthdays?! Why can't I just have one happy birthday? I don't ask for much as a person. I just wanted to get dressed up and take pictures and eat cake but I get humiliated and sent home instead. What did I do to deserve this? Then she made me look so ugly and dressed up better than I wish I could've looked. She didn't even say happy birthday. You're the only person that said it. I know I'm being a selfish horrible person but this is the one time I ask that everything be about me and that was taken from me. Forgive me."

"It's alright Bella. You're upset and you have every right to be it wasn't right they did that to you. You're not selfish, it's your birthday and you deserve nothing but the best today. There's nothing to forgive. She was just jealous of you and this was her way of doing something about it. Now cheer up, my princess shouldn't be crying. Let's put candles on that cake and cut it." Kishibe stood and brought Bella up with him.

"I don't want that cake. Throw it away."

"Don't you want to at least see what it looks like?"

"Fine. But I'm throwing it away right after." Bella pulled the lid off the box and frowned at the cake. "I was right. It was a hoax to make fun of me."

The cake was pink a color Bella hates and written on it was 'Jokes on you loser'. Bella sighed and put the lid back on. She threw the cake away and said goodnight to Kishibe before going to her room.

Kishibe frowned and picked up the flowers she left behind. He placed them on the counter and looked at the closed door. He wanted to comfort Bella but felt it best to leave her alone for now. With a sigh and a heavy heart he retired to his room and prepared to meet up with Kurumi Monday.
