35. A disturbing return
A pale sun is near to rise from behind the mountains, illuminating the houses of Hogsmeade. Aberforth Dumbledore, brother of the great Albus, comes out from his pub "Hog's Head" for the usual tour around the village before the public opening.
'Is there anything better than a good walk at dawn to start the day?' Thinks to himself, satisfied.
'He he he! I look forward for the students of Hogwarts to come to visit me during their trip to Hogsmeade: I'm curious to hear updates on what they have combined during their summer vacations and during the first weeks of school...' He continues, while a smile is printed on face, like every time he thinks about the young wizards, students at the Castle
The sky is still dark but, with each passing minute , appear the first rays of the rising sun that illuminates the surrounding countryside; the light mist that makes it faded all the scenery is going away .
Deep in thought , Aberforth walks slowly along a path that runs alongside the Shrieking Shack , the most haunted house with ghosts around the UK.
He likes that area because it is pretty wild : just a few courageous like to pass that way .
He enjoys the silence of that hour in the morning , interrupted only by the chirping of some cicada and by the calls of birds who are awakening .
With his head in the clouds , he does not pay attention to where he puts his feet , so he stumbles and falls flat on the path .
" Damn ! " He exclaims in a low voice , managing to not disturb the peace of the morning . Then he gets slowly on his knees and rubs his hands on his pants to clean up them from the earth .
Probably, if he had not stumbled and fell, he would ever know.
Before to get up, without thinking, he raises his face and looks around.
An alarm bell rings at once in his head.
Suddenly alert, he crouches in the tall grass instead of standing up: a faint ray of light comes out from one of the boarded-up windows of a rundown shack next to the Shrieking Shack.
'Inside that hut something is burning ... or is there someone' Aberforth thinks, worried. 'In any case, it's worth taking a peek ... secretly.'
Keeping bent the high figure, yet surprisingly agile despite his age, the old magician approaches silently the hut, taking advantage of the still not vanished shadows of the night, to avoid being seen by the people who perhaps are inside.
Arrived at the wooden wall, he flattens under the window and dares to take a look inside.
A chill runs down his spine.
Gathered in a tiny little room, listening in rapt silence a hooded man among them, there are some of the Death Eaters escaped capture fifteen years ago, along with other unknown people, probably Death Eaters also...
Aberforth observes the faces with worried eyes, recognizing among others Lucius Malfoy, Mirelda Mahyr, Bidus Modegan, the most cruel and unscrupulous Wizards of its knowledge.
'I can not hear a word ... What are they doing here ?!'
As he reflects on what he is seeing, the figure at the center of the circle takes off his cap. 'DRUSUS LESTRANGE!' Abeforth holds back an exclamation of surprise at seeing the old wizard.
He knows him from when they were kids: ever since, it was known that he had dedicated Dark Magic. After the fall of Lord Voldemort he had gone missing: many said that he was dead, others that he had finally been imprisoned in Azkaban ... but a few, going very close to the truth, said that he was hiding to hone her knowledge of all kinds of Black Magic to prepare the revenge.
'So the rumors were true ... I do not think they are here to organize a harmless trip to the countryside' thinks frantically. 'I have to warn the Castle'
Silent as he came, Aberforth runs on all fours in the grass.
As soon as he is out of sight, he stands up and goes to great strides toward Hogwarts.
