Chapter 11: The City Of Bones

Bella POV

I paced back and forth in the living room. I had come home and told everyone about Iain and Xena going down to the City Of Bones to talk to the conclave. At first they weren't happy or thrilled but I reassured them everything would be fine.

Well, that's what I told myself and everyone. I had no idea what Iain and Xena went down there for. For all I I know they could be traitors and are giving us off about the vamps. Or trying to get themselves killed. Which I highly doubt it. But if they do, I'm gonna kill them again when I make to heaven.

I stopped as I heard the gates open and two sets of footsteps came down the the short drive. They could have had me pick them up instead of walking a mile for angels sake. I glance over at everyone and nod as they listen to the footsteps stop at the door and the door open quietly.

Everyone stood and we hurried into the hallway and toward the door. I crush Xena in a hug.

"What the heck were you thinking?! You could have gotten both yourselves killed!" I snap. I saw out of the corner of eye Guinevere go to open her mouth but shut it as soon as I started speaking and nodded in agreement.

"By the angel, she's right! What were you guys doing?!" Guinevere scolds. Xena and Iain look down at the ground sheepishly, guilt written all over their faces.

"We were talking with the Clave and Silent Brothers about the vampires because it's getting kind of weird at school having to be around them all the time. Then they don't know what we are after that night.........." Xena trails off.

I can't help but smile. They were trying to do this for me. I shake my head. I could have delt with it. I'm sure we're not going to stay here much longer anyway. I miss Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, Simon, and everyone. Plus this wasn't a full time thing anyway.

I put my hand on Xena's shoulder, I frown.

"What did they say?" I ask. She looks at me and gives me a small smile.

"They need to see proof, not just the Silent Brothers going into both our heads." She says. Everyone looks confused.

"Dammit!" I mutter, twisting my ring nervously. Xena puts her hand on my, stopping my hand from twisting the ring. I glance up and she smiles.

"Don't worry, we'll be there too. Besides we have to explain, remember?" I nod and grumble.

"We'll be back." I say giving them a look saying 'Don't say a word just go with it, I'll tell you later'. They nod.

Since none of us need to change, being already dressed in gear and not needing weapons we head out. Even thou I have my stele, Seraph blade and my dagger.

I quickly create a portal, transporting us to the Cullen's mansion. I scowl. Not exactly how I was imagining explaining things but hey.

We quietly walk up to the Cullen's thanks to the soundless rune, inked into each of our shoes. Making it hard to tell that we were here unless they listened to our heartbeat.

We come up to the door and Xena and Iain stand a few feet behind me as I reach up and knock. We wait a few minutes as everyone goes quiet and Mario cart is paused. I smirk, Emmett. Carlisle comes to the door slowly and I hold back a laugh.

He opens the door and frowns at me.

"Can I help you?" I peruse my lips.

"Yes." He nods and stands back letting us come and leads us to the living room.

The Cullen's look at us surprised. Well it's not everyday you see your 'school mates' appear at your house in what looks like-and what is-fighting gear, looking ready to whoop someone's butt.

Ignoring their surprised looks and Alex's glare I look back at Carlisle.

"I need to borrow one of your family members." I say, not questioning it. I don't usually sugar coat crap, just get straight to the point.

He nods frowning and motions for Jasper to join us. Everyone watches us cautiously. I roll my eyes. For angels sake, if I was going to kill them I would have down it a long time.

"Carlisle?" Jasper asks, frowns. He shrugs and glances at us. I just narrow my eyes and give a tight shrug.

"We'll be back. And he will come back alive!" I snap, pulling Jasper out the door with Xena and Iain following close behind.

I bring us out to the forest and create another portal. Xena and Iain go first. I glance back at Jasper who seems nervous and hesitant. I smirk.

"Suck it up vampire boy. Your hanging with a professional." I say before pushing him through the portal. I smirk and flip through the portal landing lightly on my feet as it closes behind me. I watch as the others try to clear their head as they stand up.

Once everyone is up we walk over to one those tall grave things that looks like an extremely small house. I open the gates letting Xena and Iain go first. I put my hand out stopping Jasper.

"This is private entrance, no one is to know about this. You keep this to yourself and never come back." I say and he nods.

I let him go through before following, having the gates shut and lock behind me.

We head down stairs and through hallways until we meet one of the Silent Brothers. The Silent Brothers seem really creepy if you don't understand them. Their mouth is knit together with a quietened rune an their eyes are like soul less black wholes.

I never really understood them but they made the gray book-all our runes- and protect the mortal instruments. They also speak in your mind which can feel really weird.

They lead us to where the others and the Clave is. The room is very open and wide for us all to fit in here. The Clave and Silent Brothers all sit and watch us.

"This is one of the vampires we were talking about." Xena says.

What makes him so different from the other vampires we know. Other than his yellow eyes. One of the Silent brothers ask. I know it's to all of us except Jasper because Xena spoke not me and Iain looks hesitantly at his sister. Jasper looks around uncomfortable.

Xena glances over at me helplessly. Knowing I know more about the vampires than she did. I step in.

"He is not that much different from the ones we kill," I start and see Jasper flinch in the side of my vision. "but he does not drink human blood, hence the yellow eyes meaning he drinks animal blood. But where our vampires burn in the sun and hate light his kind sparkle in the sun." I say.

I see. But why has this not been brought to our attention before? Does he know of our kind? May we see him sparkle? Another Brother asks. I shrug.

"I'm not sure why this has not been brought to your attention, for I have met many like him before, most of them with red eyes meaning they drink human blood. And no he does not. And yes of course." I say. I can see Jasper becoming even more confused by the minute.

I pull out my witch light and tap it. It glows brightly and I give an apologetic smile to Jasper as I shine it against his skin. He looks at the rock in curiosity. Everyone looks at his sparkling skin in wonder and I can see him starting to get very uncomfortable with the stares. I tap the witch light a few times before it turns off and stick it back in my jacket.

Interesting. So he is no harm to is? He cannot see through the glamour. The other one who spoke first said.

"He is no more harm to us than the regular vampires. Probably less. And yes you are correct. Is there something we can do about that?" I ask.

It's quiet for awhile while the Silent Brothers and the Clave discuss what has been said. I spot Luke in the council and smile as I catch his eye. Luke is Clary's stepfather, and is also a werewolf. Luke and Jocelyn got married soon after Valentine was destroyed and things started to get back to normal-as normal as things can get when your a shadohunter.

Speaking of mom, her and dad must be worrying like heck. I hope this is over soon because once things are cleared with the Cullen's I can go home.

We will speak with the Iron sisters and Magnus on maybe some kind of spell. But for now you may speak with these vampires and you may leave. One of the Silent Brothers say. I sigh in relief and can see Xena and Iain do the same.

We turn and I pull Jasper with us. We go through the tunnels and up the stairs before appearing back in the grave yard.

I create a portal and Xena and Iain go first once again. Jasper steps up but pauses and looks over at me.

"What was that all about? I never heard them speak once." He says. I smirk.

"That was all about friendship, my friend. The City Of Bones." I say before once again pushing him through the portal. Laughing, I flip through and land gracefully on my feet. They all glare at me from their positions on the ground.

"Years of practice my friends." I say laughing. They grumble and stand. We were back in the Cullen's front lawn.

"Home?" I ask Xena and Iain.

They nod and I once again create another portal. They wave and nod at me as the portal closes behind them as they enter. I glance over at Jasper.

Without a word I head back up to the house and enter without knocking this time.

Everyone looks up as we enter, relief on their faces.

"See, what'd I say? If I wanted to kill y'all I would have done it years ago." I say. They look at me.

"Years ago?" Carlisle asks, but I could tell they think they knew what it was.

I smirk and lean against the end of the couch, pulling out my stele and flipping it through my fingers.

"Hell ya. Remember 2019?"
