Chapter 10: The Conclave
Chapter 10: The Conclave
Xena POV
We walked down the hallway towards history and I kept giving Izzy worried, sideways glances. She may be the strongest girl I've ever met but she worries me sometimes. And this whole vampire thing is not going down good.
In some ways I wish Izzy and her family never came but then I'm glad they I came. Because if they didn't I never would have met Izzy, and we would have never became great friends.
When we got to the door I put both my hands on her shoulders and spin her towards me.
"Izzy listen, everything's going to be fine, just ignore him. Your the most bravest, strongest, and I have to admit sometimes meanest person I've ever met." I told her, making us both laugh.
She nods and we head inside. Jasper's not here yet and I watch her take a seat while I take my seat in the front. I space off for a while until I sense Jasper enter. I watch him from the corner of my eye, walk over to Izzy and take his seat. Izzy doesn't look up as he sits.
The teacher soon comes in and starts the lesson. Which happens to be on the confederate army. I can practically feels Izzy's annoyance.
As the teacher lectures, I notice Izzy and Jasper passing notes and start to space out. I can't help but wonder what their talking about. I know she isn't telling him about her, she's very hesitant on that and if that scrap of paper fell into the wrong hands we all know we're toast. I'll have to ask Izzy later.
I come back to the classroom when I hear the teacher ask a question, something about the confederate army. He glances around the room and when no ones answers he must realize Izzy's not paying attention because he calls on her.
"Miss Lightwood." He calls.
"Uh yes, it's Southern Texas." Izzy says.
The teachers looks a bit mad that he couldn't throw her off guard but nods and turns back to the board. I smile.
The bell soon rings and Izzy is the first one out the door. With Jasper soon behind her. I quickly gather my books and rush out the door. I catch Izzy and Jasper talking before I rush to my next class which I have with Iain.
I quickly speed walk down the hall, pushing pass people as I go. As I reach the classroom door I bump into somebody.
"Dude get out-" I start to snap before I realize it Iain. "Iain, Iain."
I pull him with me and head into the girls room. The bell has already rung so class is in session which thankfully means, no one in the bathroom.
"What the heck X? What's so important that you have to bring me in the girls restroom?!" He asks.
I sigh, annoyed. I glare at him.
"Can you at least let me explain?!" I asks. He sighs.
"Yes I'm sorry." I smile.
"Good. Listen, Izzy was talking to Jasper. You know Jasper Cullen."
He makes a sound of disgust but nods. I can't help but smile.
"Well, I think we need to speak to the conclave because I don't know how much longer Izzy can keep us being you know what a secret for much longer."
He shrugs.
"What's it to me?" I growl. Ugh, why can't he see the dang point. What's it to him?! What's it to him?!
"Hm lets see, the Cullen's are not our normal everyday vampires that we kill you idiot! The conclave doesn't now about them but we do and yet no ones told the conclave about them! Tell me how that's not bad!" I snap.
He looks surprised, but thinks it over. After a few minutes realization dawns on him and his eyes grow wide.
"Oh crap!" He says. I nod.
"We need to get Izzy." He nods and we both sneak out of the bathroom and race down the hall.
"Hey do you know what Izzy's class is right now?" He asks as we turn down the corner. I look at him as if to stay, duh we wouldn't be running down these corners for nothing idiot.
We come to a stop at Art and I peak my head in. The teacher looks up and smiles.
"What can I help you with Xena?" He asks.
"Um, family emergency can I take Isabella?"
"Of course." He nods.
Izzy quickly zips her backpack and grabs her sketchbook and rushes out the room. She gives us concerned looks as we rush through the halls and quickly out the building.
I lead us out to the forest before stopping. I turn to Izzy.
"Do you have your stele?" I ask.
She frowns and nods. She opens her jacket reveling the stele.
"Good, your going to need that." I pause while she pulls it out. "I'm going to need you to make a rune to teleport us to the grave yard."
"Why do you need to go to the City Of Bones?" She asks. I sigh.
"We need to speak with the conclave. Your going to drop us off and go back home to tell our parents. Now can you please do it?"
She's like her mom Clary, she can make up runes. I think she got the talent from Clary. She nods and thinks for a minute. Figuring out a way to get us there without using a portal. Those things can be dangerous and hard to master. We're still working on those.
She gestures for us to gather our hands on top of each other, while she sticks hers on the top. She then starts drawing a rune on her hand. Once done she pulls the stele away and her hand starts to glow. The world seems like it spinning for a moment. Like we're falling through space. Before it all stops and we're standing in the graveyard, just before the entrance.
"Good luck." Izzy says before disappearing.
I sigh. Well here we go, I think as we enter the city.
