Chapter 1: Forks Washington
Chapter 1: Forks, Washington
Bella POV
I sat in the back seat playing with my stele. To say I was just a little bored is such an understatement. I was literally bored to death. I wanted to be out fighting demons. But no, we had to be reassigned to some other Institute in Forks, Washington.
My name is Isabella Marie Lightwood, shadowhunter. Just like my parents, Jace and Clarissa or Clary. We fight demons. We have black markings called runes that litter our body. Humans are called mundane's and vampires and werewolves are called Downworldwers.
We help free the world of demons for the little mundanes. Who think their world is made of nothing but human beings. Ya right.
I pull out my sketch pad and start drawing another demon I've fought. I'm like both my parents. With a love to fight, Jace, and my artistic ways, Clary. I love them very much. They weren't very thrilled at the part of moving either but you can't fight with the Conclave, you probably would never make it out alive, trust me.
We had to leave behind all our friends, Simon, Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, Marysle, and Robert Lightwood. I grumbled as we passed a sign that said 'Welcome To Forks'. Ya, no welcome.
I narrow my eyes as we drive through the town, taking in every detail and surrounding. It was a very small town I had to say. My necklace pulsed brightly and hotly meaning lots of demonic presents, present. I could sense it also. I rub my hands together and couldn't help the excitement bubble inside of me. We're going to have some demon slaying tonight.
"Now Bella don't get to excited." Said my dad. I snickered.
"Ya, never. There's totally no demonic presents, present." I say sarcastically.
"Ya totally nothing, just like I'm totally not hot. Right Clary?" My dad says sarcastically back. I can't help but roll my eyes. Clary smiles.
"Ya sure. Bella's necklace isn't pulsing for nothing." We all laugh.
We drive a little longer until we come up to something that looks like a church. But that's just the glamour for mundanes. It's actually the Institute and looks closely like the one back in Manhattan. I shove my stele in my jacket pocket and open the door, jumping out excitedly. Happy to finally able to move.
"Do you know who owns it?" I ask. My dad shrugs.
"The Penhews with their children." Great, children. Seeing my disgust dad says, "Don't worry the two are your age." I nod.
We all move up, opening the gate and up the steps to knock. After a few minutes the door opens reveling a lady in her mid thirties. She smiles.
"You must be the Lightwoods! Please come in." She opens the door wider and steps aside letting us pass.
The inside looks like the our other Institute. Kinda old fashioned. The walls were striped dark red with a hint of gold. The carpet was completely blood red. We walk through an arch and into a living room where Mrs. Penhew had us sit. Offering us water, coffee and cookies.
"Children get in here." She yells. She smiles at us politely.
"This is my husband, Rick." Rick smiles. "Oh, my name Guinevere." Her children come through the arched all dressed in shadow hunter gear like ourselves. They watch us hesitantly, well the older children do, the youngest runs up to me smiling.
"Hi! My names Rabia! But you can call me Ra! What's yours?" She asks me excitedly. My mouth twitches at her eagerness, and youngness.
"Isabella. But you can call me Bella, Iz or Izzy." She nods and hops in my lap. Guinevere and Rick shake their heads in amusement.
"Sorry about her, she gets excited when meeting new shadow hunters." Rick apologizes. I nod my head.
"It's fine." I say glancing down at Ra who's bouncing in my lap. He nods.
"This is my daughter Xena and son Iain." Says Guinevere gesturing toward her children. Both her children nod.
"I hope you children will all get along." She says clapping her hands.
Ugh. I can't wait until I turn eighteen. At that time your finally considered and adult. But for now your a child. But lucky me in one month I'll finally be eighteen!
"Why don't you kids go talk, while I put Ra to bed." Says Guinevere. Ra groans and hops from my lap.
"Night Izzy." Guinevere picks her up and takes her to bed.
"Night X, Ia." She calls to her siblings. They smile.
"Alright you heard your mother take Isabella and go talk, show her around the house." Says Rick. I stand and they nod. I follow them into the kitchen.
Xena reaches into the fridge and pulls out a bottle of water. She takes a drink before speaking.
"I'm seventeen, I'll be eighteen in a year thou. Iain will be eighteen in a month. What about you?" Xena asks me. Iain stays quietly to the side watching.
"Seventeen. Be eighteen in a month also." Xena raises an eyebrow.
"Iain's is on November 20th." Xena says. I nod.
"November 14th." Xena smiles.
"That's cool." She glances at my necklace. "That's a cool necklace." My hand goes to my necklace.
"Ya, Isabelle Lightwood, my aunt, gave it to me when I was born. It detects demons." Xena raises an eyebrow.
"Cool, I wish mom would get me one of those, but there pretty rare. All I have is one of those censors." I nod. That's what most Shadow hunters have to detect demons.
"You guys going to school?" She nods.
"Ya, Forks high school. Just to warn you, there are vampires there. They moved here last year. Thou they don't know about us." I nod. Great.
"Come on I'll show you to your room." She glances at her brother before leading me away.
