8: Genesis 4:6-7
"Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Genesis 4: 6-7
*Slightly Unedited*
Nothing was ever the same for Jungkook when he returned to South Korea after his two month two.
Well, not after that night at the Runway event.
Despite his schedule now being cleared for the most part, besides small shows he has to prepare for, Jungkook's routine has completely shifted. Back then as a trainee, he'd only focus on his own music and writing - growing as an artist and fighting everyday to be better.
Now, he has reached it.
So, he's wasting time.
Mornings where he'd spend it home, drafting music to impress his CEO, now has shifted to mornings he'd spend snorting his cocaine lines and fucking whoever would pop up on his phone. Afternoons where he'd go to the studio for lessons and pass time by calmly in his own world, now is spent with either Namjoon on plannings for the future, Karma as he is the focus for his debut, or with J-Hope on small television programs and interviews.
Unfortunately for his driver, he'd always had to take Jungkook home late at night because of his now festivities he'd do once the clock stuck midnight. He's been partying and going to celebrities get together since he came back, only this time with his secret weapon on having fun.
The best part in all of this is how now, whenever he wakes up, he doesn't have those bizarre dreams anymore.
Now his dreams are empty, not leaving him to ponder over it in his head.
However, despite so many great things that are occurring, there are some downsides happening.
For one, Karma and his girlie friend have been seeing each other consistently. They still haven't slept together, and Karma doesn't really mind since he relieves those frustrations with Jungkook whenever they're alone. However, now he's always occupied or busy, mainly because of her, and Jungkook isn't sure if he's actually into her or he's growing obsessed.
He has a habit of obsessing over things until they get easy to achieve.
She's playing hard, so no doubt once he gets a taste of her, he'd walk away.
Just like how he did to his faith.
Another thing too has happened, and well, Jungkook's own little obsession too.
Taemin.
Ever since that bathroom moment they've had back in California, Jungkook has not been able to shrug him off his head. Not even romantically, but he's been snooping his whereabouts and being so curious about him that it's getting to the point he can't even sleep at night because of how much he thinks about him.
It's not even his appearance, or anything he said.
Something about him got stuck with Jungkook.
He has something Jungkook feels like he desperately wants, and he doesn't know if it's his aura or his energy, but whatever it is, Jungkook wants it.
And he doesn't even know in what way, almost like a hungry animal ready to devour it.
From what he discovered, Taemin's from an agency with artists devoted only to singing Christian music - which Jungkook didn't even know existed. He's been in the industry for quite some time, even representing brands that promote the gospel.
Which explains why he went to the event, promoting a Christian brand.
He's quite known more internationally, and well-loved too.
Not too long ago, he released his solo album: Saves.
Jungkook didn't bother listening to the whole album, only one - In the Name of Love.
It's ironic since the song didn't sounds like those Christian songs Jungkook would hear from his driver's car. If anything, it sounds quite modern and something you could hear on the radio.
Jungkook wouldn't even have realized it was a song about God.
Anyways, that was the only song he bothered to listen before trying to dive on any of his recent activities. Jungkook found out he was singing at Inkigayo as his recent event, and out of some impulse, Jungkook swayed Namjoon to set him on the lineup list as well.
Didn't take long for that wish to be granted, and that's how Jungkook is here - backstage, getting all pampered up to perform his B-Track from his album.
Young God.
It's melancholier than the rest of his music sound, yet the message is clear as broad as day the message behind the album. For this one, he'd need Karma to perform with him as his dance - since the whole mood of the music is basically Jungkook singing it to him, being like a little demon against his ear to sway him to temptation.
The two have performed that song together multiple times, so it's not a routine unfamiliar to either of them.
Besides, that's not the reason why Jungkook came here in the first place.
Jungkook watches the television as it broadcasts the performances, but his mind was fading in the background to the performances that were going on - up until he was announced.
Taemin, singing 'Rise'.
Twitching his eyebrows together, Jungkook wondered why he didn't bother singing a popular song from his album, that'd be more appealing to the audience.
However, all those thoughts vanished when Taemin suddenly appeared on the screen - sitting in front of a piano. There's nothing spontaneous about his attire or even his fashion - only wearing a baggy beige sweater with dressed pants, that's it.
Simple, yet that was enough to draw the attention of everyone in the audience.
Even Jungkook's.
Long ago did he stop listening to Karma's rants, only focused when the man parted his lips and began to sing.
That voice...
A voice so similar to how he sounds in his album, and perhaps even clearer.
A voice.
Jungkook places a hand on his chest, lips parted.
"Dude, are you even listening to me?!" Jungkook ears just barely twitched upon hearing Karma's voice, knowing it was directed to him, "Isn't that the guy - Hey!"
In a matter of seconds, Jungkook shot to his feet, dashing out of the room. He didn't care or bothered to notice other artists who were moving through the hallway, or how some gapped to seeing his presence so close before them. Jungkook rushed through until he stood backstage, more so to the side in the shadows, watching Taemin in person.
And hearing his voice from here.... Sounded unbelievable.
His voice is like a deep drip of honey in a warm tea, fueling this warmth to anyone who bears witness to this magical moment of his singing alone. And the way he's singing, pouring every single ounce of heart and soul into it that even his veins would purge under his skin as he reaches those notes perfectly, like second nature.
Even if Jungkook wanted to look away, or even practice his own song since he's coming up quite soon, he couldn't.
He simply couldn't look away.
Yet Jungkook slowly began to feel that sensation in his chest again the longer he listened to him sing, and quickly as he remembered the Christian message behind the lyrics, his awe turned to numbness in a matter of seconds. He could feel his emotions becoming dark, an intense detachment as he is fueled with this disbelief.
This man has insane potential to be singing any type of music and become a global sensation.
He has the looks, the voice, the presence - everything.
And he wasted it all away, including opening up to creativity, just to sing about some God in the sky?
People don't want to be hearing some Christian music in this generation.
They want something modern, rebellious, daring.
He's wasting his potential for nothing, just to remain in the same spot -
"Thank you everyone for supporting me today," Oh, he finished already? But that wasn't the full song? "However, this stage is shared today with a very special person - Who God brought into our company to spread our faith and love with the world. I'm truly humble to share this stage with him tonight, please give it up for the debut of Park Jimin!"
Huh?
What??
Jungkook entire world stopped for a moment, watching as from the other side of the stage the familiar man steps forward with a shy smile and waving to the applauding audience. In shock, Jungkook watches as the two shared a hug, Taemin giving the spotlight to Jimin as he looks over the audience with this glow on his face.
That damn glow.
A sneer spreads Jungkook's lips, feeling a cloud forming above his head as he watches Jimin looking over the audience, right before he brings the mic to his lips.
"Hello everyone, my name is Park Jimin, and this is my debut," The audience applauded him, some even gushed to how cute he sounded, "Well, I'll be sharing my stage with Taemin today, to whom I thank for giving me this opportunity. I hope you all enjoy!"
Jungkook narrows his eyes, his fists balled tightly on his sides as he watches Taemin get behind a piano and Jimin sits on it comfortably but clearly nervous - his anxious fingers shaking over the mic is more than enough proof to show that.
There's no words to describe how Jungkook feels whenever he sees Jimin. He never expected to see him as often as he is seeing him now, and it's pissing him off.
Something about him gets under his skin, and he doesn't know what it is.
It brings out the worst sides of him every single time, and it's hilarious since he was just fine a few seconds ago.
"Ah, wasn't that the handsome guy from the party?"
Karma's amusing tone tingles Jungkook's ears, forcing a twitch to his eye to the memory of his birthday party, "Unfortunately."
"Did he do something I wasn't aware off?" Karma joked, eyeing Jungkook's clear aggravation, "You look ready to burn the world right now."
"Just might."
Suddenly Taemin began to play the piano, snatching both boys' attention to the stage. Jimin has his eyes closed, seeming to be praying under his breath as he lets the melody sooth into him, just before he opens his mouth and sings.
"I keep fighting voices in my mind that says I'm not enough," Jimin quietly tones with his voices, fluttering his eyes open with an empty daze to the ground, as though he meant every single word he just sang, "Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up."
Jungkook shifted in discomfort, having flashbacks to when he first met Jimin - seeing him disappointed as he left the Oasis headquarters because of his rejection to singing other music that wasn't about God. He probably wrote this song during that time, where he felt his lowest for not being wanted.
And somehow, Jungkook gets it, since he used to fight with thoughts from his own head all the time before his debut.
Now he doesn't fight it, he dances with it.
He found replacements, so it's not annoying as it was before.
"Am I more than just the sum of every high and low," That hit close to home, "Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know. O-Oh."
Jungkook twitches a frown, just as Jimin closes his eyes again with the pain deep in his expression, "You say I am loved, when I can't feel a thing,"
Immediately, flashbacks to Jungkook at the party breezed his mind, remembering how it felt feeling so numb until he took cocaine for the first time.
And now he hasn't stopped to mask up that forming void in his chest.
"You say I am strong, when I think I am weak."
When he'd pass out or grow weak during or after his concerts because of how tired and overwhelmed he was out there.
Yet somehow, still being able to perform other shows after tat.
"And you say I am held, when I am falling short."
The panic attack episode at the runaway event, where he felt so weak and desperate before Taemin showed up.
"And when I don't belong, oh you say I am Yours," Jimin poured out with every beating bone in his body, "And I believe, oh, Oh believe. What you say of me, I believe."
Jungkook swayed between his feet. Something about those were like daggers slicing through his chest, prying down his body in half to leave the thick blood to run down of his suffocating emotions. Having those memories, and those lyrics come all at once were like a circular motion of distress that raised up in Jungkook's chest in anxiety.
He hates it.
He hates how it's making him.
"Kid got a good voice," Karma compliments, not seeming phased by the lyrics, "Let's see how long he'd last before he realizes singing about God won't get him to where he wants to go."
Jungkook shifted a quick glance towards Karma, having something about even his words not feeling comfortable to Jungkook's already boiling anxiety, so he focuses back on the performance.
The more Jimin sang, the more Jungkook found himself relentless with every passing second - almost like a caged animal just fighting against the hinges to escape. This repulse against the song, the presence, everything messed him up. What pisses Jungkook off more about this is not understanding where this rage or intense emotions are coming from, as though they were suddenly just provoked.
As mentioned before, Jimin has always been tender and kind to him, not unleashing an unnerving bone in his body of anger or hate, and for some reason Jungkook gets complete anxious and relentless around him with these intense negative emotions.
It's so many feelings boiled in ball together, and it all ties back to whenever he looks at that cross around his neck.
Perfect, he always seems like he's perfect.
Good behavior, good voice, good face for the crowd - perfect in every way.
Yet Jungkook knows that's just a facade, it always is.
No one is ever true in this industry, and Jimin needs to realize he won't get the luxury if he continues to play this innocent and saint image for the sake of it.
This loving God personality will be his downfall, as it has been already when Oasis rejected him.
And he still haven't caught the hint? He can stop now, he doesn't need to try so hard if the mask is bound to fall when curtains close.
The more Jungkook lets those torturous words spiral in his head, the more he began to wage a war in his own thoughts.
And they won.
That's why when the performance ended, and Jimin and Taemin said their departing wishes from the stage and exited out from where Jungkook and Karma were - Jungkook stood in Jimin's way with a murderous glare and scowl.
Jimin startled back with wide eyes to the sudden attention on him, especially because of how demonic Jungkook is looking down at him right now.
He doesn't even recognize this man anymore.
"This was your debut stage? What you abandoned Oasis for?" Jungkook mocks, a disbelief smile on his face, "How disappointing to waste your talent over something that isn't real."
Word by word, Jimin was becoming a cowering kitten the sudden attack as he crouches back with a frown, away from Jungkook's venomous words, not before boldly muttering, "You really played into his game? Now that demon is turning you against me, and you're blinded to see it."
Demon?
Oh that's a new one.
Jungkook had to laugh, shaking his head, "Demon? Are you insisting I'm being possessed?"
"No," Jimin states, eyeing Jungkook glossy eyes, "You're lost, and those demons are taking advantage of it. That's why you're repulsed by me, since it knows if you allow yourself to believe, they would've lost another one."
Now Jungkook's smile grinds into a snarl, dark eyes glowering down to him, "No, actually I genuinely feel bad for you. By this point with a voice like yours, you could be making millions and have so much fame at the foot of your door, but you'll never make it anywhere singing about a man who was just like us - a human, Jesus was it?"
Jimin lips pulled into a tight purse, and he closes his eyes and mumbles a whisper under his breath, one that Jungkook caught onto and immediately was like an injection of rage to flood in his blood stream.
"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes," That twitched a nerve in Jungkook's body, pissing him off even more when Jimin opened his eyes with a gentle stare in his gaze, "Your words won't hurt me. I am protected by God, and there's nothing you can do to change that. Just because you have your doubts about your faith doesn't mean you get to attack me about mines."
This reached its limit.
Jimin got so angry, so filled with an intense rage, that suddenly he didn't realize what he was doing when he raised his fist and goes to aim it at Jimin's face - a sudden impulse he didn't know where it came from.
Jungkook was never a violent person, yet he couldn't help it.
But before his fist touched his skin, a hand abruptly grips his wrist tightly and securely, refusing to let single touch land on Jimin's skin.
There stands Taemin, glaring profusely at Jungkook as he stands in the way, his grip painfully strong when Jungkook attempted to move away. There's this anger that glowed behind Taemin's eyes. Such an intense anger that even made Jungkook forcefully be still momentarily in a dull submission, even feeling quivered by it to how much force is behind a simple gaze alone, especially when his gripped tightened.
As though he was ready to snap Jungkook's hand off if he moved a single centimeter more.
However, Jimin places a hand to Taemin's shoulder, looking at him with a pleading stare, "Remember, if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also," He says, flickering his eyes to Jungkook, a sad frown on his lips, "Besides, he does not know what he is doing. Forgive him, as I did. God will forgive him too, he also does."
Taemin still remained with his gaze intensifying, clearly not wanting to let it pass, but soon enough he lets Jungkook go. Rubbing his wrist now to the grip Taemin had on his hand, Taemin only sends Jimin a smokey dark glare before turning around with a protect arm around Jimin and walks away.
Jungkook remains with his gaze now heavy and dull, being like a shadowing demon looming in the darkness as he stares at them - more so glares heavily onto Jimin.
He wants to appear so noble and loyal, so perfect as a sinless church boy.
Right, as if he is.
At the end of the day, he's still human.
And Jungkook is heaving to have him show his truly colors rather than this false facade to the world.
"I know that look," Karma states, eyeing over him cautiously, "What's on your mind?"
Jungkook grinds his teeth, perking a sarcastic eyebrow, "What's on my mind?" He joked, shaking his head to himself, his eyes darkening to the wicked thoughts playing in his head, "This church boy wants to debut? Let's show him how this industry really runs, and maybe it'll make him realize that there's no room for God while being here."
Karma twitches an eyebrow, "And how will you do that?"
"Simple," And he looks to Taehyung, the sinister glint in his eyes intensifying, "By making him realize a God doesn't exist."
Oh he's going to make him realize it alright, and hopefully by then, Jungkook won't bare to look at him without feeling so damn angry all the time.
And it'll work.
It did for Karma after all, how hard will it be for Jimin?
He just needs to get closer to him somehow, but after today, that'll be quite difficult -
"Raven! Karma!"
Both men turn their heads, seeing Namjoon rushing over to them. He has an excited dimpled smile on his face, holding onto his signature tablet in hand.
If he's smiling, must mean really great news.
"I have some great news for you!" Figured, "So, as we know, we are setting both of your schedules - also aligning it with Taehyung's debut - and the CEO strongly believes you both you take this opportunity for the Christmas Charity event."
Namjoon turns the tablet, revealing the flier of this charity event - which would help raise money for children and familiar for presents and food during the holiday season who are in need.
This is not new news for Jungkook, after all, he has heard of this event before plenty of times while being a trainee.
J-Hope even participated in it to raise money, it's a huge deal in Korea.
However, there's one problem.
"Well, I don't know if you realized this hyung," Jungkook remarks back, gesturing to his entire attire, "But I don't really have the image to go caroling with the children in a winter day - neither of us do."
Namjoon grimaces, lowering the tablet, "But you're a big name now, both of you. If you make your name known here, it'll show a versatile side of you, not just a demonic gothic brat."
Jungkook scowls back, but Taehyung quickly interjects, "So, what exactly do we do for this event? Just sing our songs?"
"Wrong, Christmas songs," Namjoon restated, looking through the tablet, "However, having you two sing together would be too much of an overwhelming presence because of your previous record. So you'll be singing a duet with two other artists, in that way you'll draw in more attention with people on the other side of the spectrum."
Jungkook slowly perks an eyebrow, "Who?"
When Namjoon scrolled though and revealed the names on the list, never has Jungkook's lips twitched to a brighter smile than now.
Oh, looks like things about to get easier for him now.
Luck is definitely on his side.
"Jimin and Taemin?" Taehyung retorts, his eyes clearly not amused, "Why? They only sing Christian music? We clearly sing the other side of that world?"
"Exactly? And what happens when two worlds collide for one cause?" Namjoon questions, grinning widely, "Magic, it'll bring in more popularity seeing a more vulnerable side of you guys, even if its fake."
Taehyung wasn't convinced, "And they agreed to this?"
"Their management team thought it was a marvelous idea," Namjoon continues to beam, now looking at his tablet, "We will begin our recording soon, and our practice sessions. I will send you two the songs and you must practice whenever you have free time - Oh shit, you guys are on, let's go!"
Jungkook didn't even realize when the new singer stepped on stage and finished his show, immediately being rushed by the entire staff to get on there, but before he could, he looked back to Namjoon, "What's the song we're singing?"
Quickly Namjoon looks down, eyes narrowed, "Hallelujah."
Fantastic, another religious song to rise fake hope to his audience on his beliefs.
This should be entertaining, but not as entertaining as it'll be now that he's going to be closer to Jimin than before.
And he can proceed his plan successful.
Get ready Christian boy, looks like your God is giving me an easier access to destroy that faith so easily - and we'll see who ends up being right in the end.

A/N:
Okayyyyyyyyyy!!
So, really quick, pleaseeee don't hate Jungkook from here on out. It'll be insanely difficult, I know it, but remind you - mans is going through it. He's now mixed up in with drugs, and also he's being blinded by his Raven identity. I really want to show with this how easily - who we shall no named- tries to use him as a tool to bring those who are faithful away from God, without Jungkook realizing it.
This is going to have such a massive turnover. Remember, -who we shall not named- tries hard to turn us away from God and will use any opening to do it - whether it's with people, jobs, life- if you read the book of Job, this is kinda similar, but in this case, Jungkook is being the weapon while being blinded by fame and greed to do it, and as Jimin said, he does not know now what he is doing due to it.
I hope I explained it well, if you need more details please don't hesitate to comment.
I PURPLE YOU! Thank you for reading!! <33
