7: Genesis 3: 1-5
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beats of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3: 1-5
Imagine going down a never-ending spiral of colors.
A painting filled with illusions of aggressive strokes of a paint brush yet the gentle daps of a tender touch to add tone to the sharp edges.
Swimming in a pool with the essence of both the moon and sun, twirling your emotions to the passionate flames of the sun and the calmness tranquility bleeding from the moon.
A complete mess of a kaleidoscope of colors and emotions rolled into one- exactly how Jungkook feels right now.
The colors are hazing in and out of his vision, just like the dark purples and reds from the lights as it blares his surroundings in this club - coating his surroundings like a cloud, unable to see anything clear, much less know what's even going on.
By this point, Jungkook has lost track to how many shots he has taken thus far, or with how many people he has made out with, but one thing for sure is that unlike the previous times he's been to these after parties - this time it feels different.
The first time was thrilling, he was having fun and going crazy on that dance floor. There was nothing like that first party that came after, as his first experience to an after party.
From that point on, he has attended many parties like that one, yet little by little, Jungkook has lost his ability to have fun in them. It was always the same rotational cycle, a never ending saga with the same ending - a routine that Jungkook has gotten use to by now.
That's why tonight, despite having a good DJ with amazing music and with the most attractive people Jungkook has ever been surrounded by, he needed extra doses of alcohol to feel something close to how he felt that first time.
But it wasn't the same.
That's why now he's stumbling between his feet, the people moving in almost a haze before his eyes as he glides against the wall for some type of grounding. Long ago did he lose Karma and J-Hope, but not like he needs a babysitter.
He can manage, but the world is just swirling around him and he's not exactly having fun.
There's nothing more he wants than to feel that same feeling he did the first night he went to an after party - he craved for that feeling and energy.
Right now, he just can't seem to get there yet.
"Raven."
Jungkook focuses his head up, meeting Karma's eyes through his blurred vision. He's having fun though, undoubtably. Karma knows how to have fun in these scenes, either that or because of the cocaine.
Whatever it was has him glowing with energy.
"What are you doing hugging the wall? Let's go dance!"
Jungkook rolls his eyes, "This is to keep me from being tempted to drink more."
"And that's a bad thing because....?" Karma chuckles as he lifts up his own glass, suddenly taking out a lipstick from his pocket and using the glass as a mirror to outline his lips with red, glazing his eyes to Jungkook, "I promise you, you're probably a lot better than most people here-"
Jungkook grabs him by the neck and smothers their lips together, messing up his perfectly outlined lips from the lipstick, hungrily devouring his mouth against his. Karma reciprocated it back, tugging Jungkook away from the comfort of the wall and towards the dance floor.
Realizing he was tempted away from his bubble, Jungkook attempted to go back until his song Paint the Town Red blared the speakers, and he lost himself within the crowd from that moment on.
Now they're back to dancing, hollering with the crowd, having people with their phones out to take videos or pictures. Karma's energy somehow brought Jungkook that same feeling back to how he felt before, and he was finding himself to have more fun the more the night passes by.
But of course, it all wasn't as smooth as expected.
Karma suddenly moved through the crowd in a certain direction, and Jungkook was quick in noticing it and follows after him with a hand to his wrist. Karma didn't move away from the touch, guiding them actually until he suddenly he stops in front of a table with more celebrities sitting around.
A couple Jungkook knew, except for one.
"Came for another dose?"
Jungkook furrows his eyebrows to the man with the wicked smile and serpent eye contact lenses to Karma, but then his eyes fall to the table to realize what he meant.
There's an elegant small bowl filled with a familiar white substance, along with trays and cards to ease it up along with rolls to finish it off.
Cocaine, or so, it looked like it.
Wait, another dose? He already took one?
Karma eagerly grabs a spoon full of the substance and lays it on a tray, lining it up as he always did but before he took a snort, Jungkook grabs his elbow.
He doesn't know why, this isn't uncommon to see him snorting after all - quite normal by this point. But something in Jungkook was telling him to stop him, and it's not leaving him alone.
Wild eyes snaps to him, Karma glancing down to his hand and his face, "Yes?"
Jungkook looks between Karma and the white substance, "What is it?"
"I don't know, but its fucking good," Karma says, twitching a grin, "Got me all hyped up."
There's this heavy doubt still on Jungkook's shoulders, something he can't seem to shrug off, "You're not like this to do it at parties in front of people. I don't trust it."
Karma's face stiffens, seemingly to grow annoyed. He rips his arms from Jungkook's grasp, "Last time I checked, I didn't have a guardian coming with me here. What happened to having a good night?"
Jungkook still didn't seem sure, but he didn't stop Karma from going for it in taking a snort of the single line up the nose - just like the other times he has done so. However, something about this time around felt different. Something about the way he takes it with such a relieving and exotic expression on his face was like an illusion for Jungkook.
In the back of Jungkook's head, he was always envious by Karma's energy, wanting to be as chaotic and wild as he is when gets when he's on stage, or in social settings. Jungkook is losing his bar on having fun in parties or keeping his energy in check during events, and he doesn't know what else to do to get it back.
The more Jungkook stares at the bowl of cocaine, the more a voice spoke in his head to do it.
Be tempted.
And he'll know how it'll feel for himself, the good and bad effects of it.
He'll be invincible, just like how Karma feels.
Yet there's also that quiet voice, the mellow whisper deep in his body holding him back.
Be strong through the storm, but does he want to if everyone else is having fun with it?
"I see your curious eyes," The same man with the serpent eye contacts, who gave Karma the wicked eyes earlier, is now looking to Jungkook, holding out a tray just for him, "It'll be fun. You'll get to feel so much better than how you do now."
He'll feel better.
He'll feel good.
He'll know for himself.
Karma snaps his eyes to the man and then the tray, glowering to him, "He doesn't take-"
"I'll try it."
If Karma's eyes are dilated, it's broader now as he looks at Jungkook - who took the tray with the roll. The music is giving an illusion to him, especially when his song suddenly blared the speakers, surging him with this confidence to rile up in his body.
Unholy, very unholy.
Jungkook looks from the cocaine and back to the man, "I won't die right?"
"You won't die," The man promises him, smirking, "You'll know everything, even feel like a God. It will help you, trust me."
The more Jungkook stares at the cocaine, the greater the temptation and before he knew it, he took the roll and snorted the strip without a second thought.
The flame officially burning out.
Immediately the first thing he felt from that single snort was a burning in his nostrils, dripping it to the back of his throat as though sandpaper rusted against the walls of his esophagus. Tears pooled his eyes, rubbing his nose aggressively to rub off any remains of the cocaine from his noise.
Suddenly his pupils dilated. Slowly he started to feel this sudden warmness crawl up his body, a rush of everything whirling around him all at once. The music immediately sounded louder and clear, he felt the people around him and the movements of dancing in the background. Everything immediately felt heightened, and this intensive feeling overcame him as though he's finally being aware of everything in his surroundings.
Like some opposite effect of derealization.
He was in so much control of his body and - fuck, he felt so happy all so suddenly!
This feels amazing!
"Raven, you okay?"
Jungkook slowly looks at Karma, who's looking at him cautiously. The man on the table grins to Jungkook's physical reaction, especially when he suddenly smiles widely back at Karma.
He places his hands on his jaw, laughing under his breath, "Why the fuck did you not convince me to do this sooner?!"
Karma was taken back by the sudden reaction, but quickly it wavers away to giggles at Jungkook presses multiple kisses on his lips before dragging him to the dance floor.
That feeling he felt in his first party was nothing to how exhilarating and euphoric Jungkook feels right now. Everything intensified for him in all the right spots, in all the good place, and he felt so infinite.
Now he knows the key to Karma's charms, and he can understand why it works - it enhances every single fiber of his body - his dancing, his singing, his energy - fuck, everything is better!
It's all better!
"Welcome to the industry boys," J-Hope appears before them, arms on their shoulders as they dance to the music, "The fun has only just started."
