15: Job 6:15
"When desperate people give up on God Almighty, their friends, at least, should stick with them." - Job 6:15 (MSG Ver.)
"Hm, interesting seeing new faces here, especially yours."
Well, that makes two of them.
Jungkook didn't twitch a reaction to the sudden commentary made by the unfamiliar man sitting behind the recording panel. Not like he'd feel comfortable doing so either way, since after all - this is his territory.
Angel Studios.
Jimin and Taemin's recording label agency.
As sudden as it sounds, Jungkook stood with his word - he left Oasis, for good.
And no, it was not an easy thing to do.
Two days ago, Jungkook marched right back to that office of his CEO, having Minnie accompany him along the way too. He refused to have her leave or wait outside, since he knows if she did than he would be easily convinced to a different alternative - since it was very high likely chance it would have happened.
So, she stood right there, like a mighty warrior ready for battle beside him, as Jungkook made the boldest decision of his life in removing his strings with his agency. To be fair, the day after his meltdown in front of Minnie, he did doubt - a lot. It's as though those senses hit him of how abruptly that move would be, and he just decided to sit on the safe side while still living comfortably.
He told Minnie to forget about it that morning, and she didn't argue back, if anything she said it'll come with time.
And it did.
The funeral home suddenly reached out to Jungkook to set up a date on when the service should be held for his parents - which was a slap of a remind as to how his parents are not even here anymore. That wasn't even all. All of the sudden, a rumor spread like wildfire on social media of Jungkook's possible drug addictions released by a sasaeng, and that being one of the main reasons as to why he is on a hiatus.
His company denied the rumors immediately before it got to the extent of the police investigating, but that doesn't mean the trends didn't go insane with the story.
Everything around him started to overwhelm his sanity, making him more paranoid and anxious to even breathe. He can't even play his guitar anymore, or even focus on himself with singing, he was always hearing those loud voices in his head just fucking him up to the point he was really going insane. Even Namjoon happened to be one of them, edging Jungkook to try to do something, anything, to be brought back into the spotlight to get out of his hiatus.
Jungkook reflected a lot that day.
Is this the life he truly wants to live?
Will things ever change?
Do people genuinely even care?
If they don't, then why should he care about how they'd feel? Why be Raven to please them?
The next day, unable to handle it anymore, Jungkook went right into that office and quit - cold and dry. To say that the CEO was not expecting that was an understatement, and he fell into complete denial. He tried every possible way to persuade Jungkook to think this through. That he's grieving. He doesn't know what he's doing. He's just stressed. This is the best agency he could be in with many opportunities.
The list went on and on, and to be fair, it did convince Jungkook.
He was convinced to stay, but a greater part of him denied.
But as mentioned, if it wasn't for Minnie being there, he wouldn't have pulled through at all.
She was a reminder of his breakdown. Of his vulnerability. Of his weakest moments. His complete insanity due to the industry.
He never, ever, wants to cry the same way he did that night in front of her.
So, he stood firm with his decision. Of course, the CEO has him under contract, and he was not afraid in bringing that up and how he's basically his property. Jungkook was a little choked up to that, but Minnie quickly interjected with involving a lawyer if this is going to get complicated.
The last thing Oasis needs on headlines is a court case while exposing how shitty they are with handling their artists - especially if one wants to quit for the sake of their mental health.
So that day, once that was over, Jungkook walked out that building with no ownership credit of his released music from his first album, no label, and no home.
No manager.
No release of his 2nd album.
Practically given three days to get his shit and leave his apartment.
He was now left with nothing, and yet, this was the first time he has ever felt so free in his life.
Namjoon was blasting his phone with messages, but Jungkook only blocked his number - as a matter of fact, he changed his number right after to not have any connection to anyone from that agency.
Not like he has bad blood with anyone, but right now they are a reminder of Raven - and he doesn't want to associate with Raven at the moment.
However, just because Jungkook was suddenly sent out for the streets, doesn't mean he wasn't active beforehand. He was making a great deal of money while he was in his fame, so best believe he did save a lot - the agency only made things easy for him to pay for his apartment just because he was a trainee before.
But, to find a place so instantly and at such a short period of time isn't like taking a walk down the park. It's too last minute. So, he had to figure something out in the moment until he can get himself situated.
He's not entirely stressed as he should be in the moment.
For now.
He sold most of his things or threw away what wasn't needed, so that's a start.
So, the big question here now is, how did Jungkook end up in Angel studios?
Well, the Christmas Event is still ongoing, as Minnie instructed, with no label. However, now that Jungkook left Oasis, best believe his CEO wouldn't want to see him parading in that building for that event.
So, Karma reached out to Minnie, informing her - well more so complaining - how now they're switching to practice at Angel Studios, which is perfect for Jungkook to practice without his presence being a problem. Minnie told Jungkook of course, and that's how he's here.
No one expected for him to come here, not even Jimin while he was speaking with someone from the receptionist at the front desk. It almost was like a deja vu moment of how things have changed - when Jungkook first saw Jimin leaving Oasis building with a disappointed frown on his face, to now Jungkook entering Angel's studio with the same cloud on his head.
However, Jimin was more so relieved and happy to see him than gawking at him with those judgmental eyes. Afterall, their past wasn't exactly the best, especially with how Jungkook was behaving towards him. To have that same man, who Jungkook couldn't stand the mere sight of or image of him, be the same one to wrap his comforting arms around his body with such joy to seeing his presence was like a shift in the air.
A sudden and yet comforting shift.
Didn't take long for Jimin to call Taemin to inform him of Jungkook's presence, and he's currently on his way there as they speak.
They have a Christmas event to get prepared for after all.
This studio is different than the one in Oasis, and the main reason being is by how much at home it feels here: The lights are dim, the area is broad and squared shaped with dark wooden walls and floors. There're many plants here, and candles, a simple coffee table and even an area to get a drink of hot water, tea or even coffee.
It just.... Feels so welcoming.
Jimin plants his hand on the male sitting behind the recording panel, rubbing his hair, "Don't tease."
He snatches Jimin's hand, smiling at him, "Oh I know, it's all over the news on his departure from Oasis," And he shifts his eyes to Jungkook, "How does it feel to be released from the shackles?"
Jungkook didn't know how to react to that comment either, but the guy clearly noticed how tense he is an took it upon himself to stand up and pat him on the arm, his smile genuine, "Relax, will you? I'm Woosung. I was actually part of Oasis at one point in my life."
Now Jungkook's attention perked, snapping his head towards him, "You were in Oasis?"
The man with the platinum white hair only smiles, a genuine smile so to say, and sits back down on his chair, "I was there as a producer and lyrist. I remember seeing you there when you signed your contract, which was my last day there before my contract expired. Explains how we properly didn't meet."
Jungkook tilts his head, trying to remember ever seeing his face but nothing comes to mind. He'd surely would remember seeing him if he did, after all, this man has the face of a gentle angel. Expressive with his lips, when he smiles or snickers, even frowns, and Jungkook picked that up quickly by this short interaction they had together.
Something about him feel cozy, even approachable. He just has that energy where one can be around with in silence and still feel peaceful.
He just radiates good energy, even with his sarcastic teases.
"Anyways, enough talk about memory lane, I'm assuming you're here for the Christmas Charity Event?" Woosung sighs, adjusting some buttons on the panel, "No label?"
"Nope."
"Hm," Woosung hums, "I wonder. It's not simply you can just waltz in and perform. Lots of money goes into production, styling, staff in the background. Typically, a label assures that's being paid and handled. So how are you going to manage that?"
Jungkook didn't know how to respond to that.
Sure, he is aware that his performance isn't exactly free, and doing this does involves a great deal of money being put in - which is where being part of a label would assist. He could pay them once he profits off the performance, but at the same time, it's a charity event. All the money that the event raises up will go to charity, so it's not like he's going to have a glance of it either.
Hm, didn't think that far.
Doubt flashed Jungkook's head, unsure on what exactly to do. This is a bit more complicated than he expected, and well.... Perhaps he doesn't have to participate. He can probably guide the rest and -
An arm around his shoulders drifted his attention, turning his head to see Taemin standing there with an ear-to-ear smile. This is probably the first time Jungkook has ever seen this man smile this big, or even this genuine before.
The sight is completely breathtaking.
"Don't worry about that, I'll see with the agency to have you covered," And his looks at Woosung, "Taehyung should be arriving shortly, we could start off with Jimin recording."
Jungkook is still looking at Taemin, not believing the words that just came out of his mouth, "What? What do you mean covered? They wouldn't just willingly do that to a stranger."
Taemin turns to face him, planting his hands on his shoulders with a beaming smile, "You're no stranger, trust me. Don't worry about it, but for this performance we do need you. We're not losing you, I refuse to."
Something about those words touched something deeply in Jungkook's soul, and for the first time in a very long time, he twitches a genuine smile back.
Just as Karma barges into the studio.
Immediately the energy was shifted upon his presence alone, especially since..... His energy is a little off.
When Jungkook made eye contact with him for the first time, he sees the dark circles burning under his skin - that was once so warm and healthy, now pale with a permanent fluster of color that he once used to radiated. There's this empty stare in his eyes, no longer holding onto this profound beam of being alive - as though the life was sucked right out of him.
He's so.... Different.
Behind him steps in Minnie, who quickly makes eye contact with him too. Didn't take long for Jungkook to perk a slow eyebrow, subtly asking her what's wrong with him, but she only subtly shakes her head to leave it be.
Something must've happened or is happening.
Well, can't deny that Jungkook is likely part of the problem since he did say those hurtful things to him. Now that Jungkook left, now doubt that now Karma has a lot more pressure on his shoulders too - just like Jungkook did when he debuted. However, he will listen to Minnie. He'll approach him at a better time, since right now he's looking at everyone as though if someone presters him once, he'll walk right out the same door he came in.
So Taemin immediately smiles, "Glad to have you here Taehyungie."
Taehyung.
His name out in the open for everyone in this room to hear.
Not Karma, but Taehyung.
No words came out of his mouth upon the greet but he did manage to just barely twitch a forced smile, and they left it at that to start their practice. Jimin is the first in the recording booth, and to say he has improved from his first day till now would be an understatement. Something about his tone and his approach has changed, sounding better actually.
Later on, Jungkook found out Woosung's couching had a lot to do with that.
He has an impeccable voice as it is, and his notes for the lines hit just perfectly. He adds the feeling, control, and timing to the notes. Besides, he seems to understand and know Jimin's voice perfectly - especially his techniques. So instead of him changing anything, he guides him based on the range of Jimin's vocals.
It worked out well since now Jimin sang his part perfectly, especially the high note. No longer did it sound strained or forceful, it was powerful - generating that energy from his chest and up his throat, making a sound so full of feeling yet so in control.
He has improved so well.
Good for him.
Taemin was next, and luckily with Taemin's lines, he doesn't really have a lot of high notes to reach into. However, it does involve a lot of control. Taemin is any producers dream singer - he just doesn't struggle, doesn't need so many takes, he applies himself so much and it shows that he has studied to perfect himself well even outside the studio.
His voice is a perfect starter to this song, starting off strong and put on the expectation.
Now everyone has to meet it from all angles.
Next up was Jungkook, but before Jungkook could've stepped into the booth, Minnie approaches him.
"How are you feeling about this?"
Jungkook looks between her eyes, remembering that night of his apartment, especially how she stayed with him until morning just comforting his sorrow. The last person he ever expected happened to be the person in which he needed in the moment.
Who would've expected them to have grown close in the end.
He smiles softly, "I'll be fine."
Once inside the booth, Jungkook felt his nerves racing up. He kept going over warm-ups and humming the lyrics, trying to get into the feel of it.
He's nervous, can't deny that, but he's ready.
"Take your time, okay?" Woosung's voice echoed inside, a touch of sincerity in his tone, "These lyrics are very delicate and vulnerable, I'm going to need you to really dig deep into it."
Jungkook only was able to nod, his fingers shaking as he holds the paper, "Mhm."
Woosung didn't say anything more, only played Jimin's last recording since it came before it, and once the beat came in, Jungkook edges to the mic.
When he opened his lips and sang, he knew something was off immediately.
He tried to gather as much of the same feeling as he did that night, but the notes and tone were not coming out as he wanted it to. Not how it needs to sound like. The more he sang, the more this emptiness weighed in his chest, and he just.... Couldn't feel anything.
He thought of his parents, his brother, anything - yet nothing came out.
Just a voice.
An empty voice.
Why can't he feel again?
Jungkook edged back once he finished, shaking his head, "One more time."
"It didn't sound so bad."
"No, I can do better," Jungkook assures him, "One more time please."
Along to his wishes, Woosung played it one more time, and Jungkook tried again.
However, nothing changed.
He still couldn't feel anything.
Why?
Why is this happening now?
He was even singing it well just this morning, why is it not coming out now?
Jungkook grunts annoyed when he finished, looking towards the glass, "I don't know what's going on, it's not coming out how I want it to."
"That's okay. Don't force yourself. We'll come back once Taehyung finishes."
Jungkook didn't want to give up.
He didn't want to just leave it at that, but regardless he listened to Woosung since repeating this over will only frustrate him more. He's just going to have to dig a little deeper, and then come back.
Stepped out of the booth, Karma stood right there waiting. He didn't make eye contact with Jungkook, only moved silently into the booth. He didn't make a single sound as he grabs the headset, looking over his lines with those dead eyes.
And Woosung wasn't quiet about it, "Hey, you feeling okay?"
Karma snaps his eyes to the glass, giving him a single nod before looking back to the paper on his hands.
Jungkook stood beside Minnie, looking at Karma too, "What happened?"
Minnie frowns as she looks at him, her shoulders shagging, "I don't know. On the ride here after I picked him up, he was just.... Like this. He didn't want to talk."
"Where was he?"
"I think he had an interview and then a meeting? I'm not sure, he was fine this morning."
Jungkook frowns, looking at him now as the music plays and Karma steps closer to the mic and sings. Now this is where atmosphere in the room completely shifted.
Karma's voice isn't the same.
His tones are off, his timing is insanely off, he's not using his deeper register as he used to, and he seems anything but focused on the lyrics. Even for the minor high note, he still couldn't project it as he did before.
He's just..... He's not okay.
He's definitely not okay.
Taemin and Jimin both shared a look, right before Taemin approaches Woosung with a hand on his shoulder, whispering to his ear. Woosung nods and stops the music before Karma could even finish.
"Come here, let's have a little break."
"But I didn't finish."
"That's okay, we'll try again later," Woosung says delicately, "Just come here."
Karma didn't fight back, only puts the headset on the mic. Jimin was quick in preparing tea for everyone around the coffee table in mugs with a piece of bread. Everyone made home to sit around in their own seat, taking their own individual drink and pastry.
Jungkook was just about to eat, until he noticed how everyone except for Karma and Minnie suddenly bowed their heads to pray. Didn't take long for Minnie to join in too, meanwhile Karma and Jungkook made eye contact from across the coffee table, not saying a single word.
It's quite bizarre thinking how life can change so fast.
From always joking around and teasing with jokes, unable to detach their hands from each other when they're alone, to now sitting face to face and unable to even breath the same air.
They were so stuck to each other like glue everywhere they went to, and now they can't even say a simple hello.
Jungkook can't deny that he is mainly at fault here. He was an asshole towards him, and he was so disrespectful. He took for granted Taehyung attention, and now he really messed up the only friendship that got him through this industry in Oasis.
But that's just it, isn't it? He didn't need a friendship to get through it, but to get out.
And breaking his friendship was a sacrifice to completely let go of that agency.
"Amen," Woosung finished the prayer, snapping both Jungkook and Taehyung out of the intense stare.
It's quiet, for the most part, but it wasn't a silence that lasted long since Woosung was quick in saying something, "So, I don't know who needs to hear this, maybe everyone, maybe no one, I don't know. But I want to say that honestly being in the music industry is so hard, and it's so difficult."
Jungkook subtly scrunches up back against the couch, drinking more of his tea since clearly this is touching some deep waters right off the bat. No one else seemed to twitch a reaction, not even Karma, and so Woosung continued.
"It's hard because you come in, thinking things would be so different and then once you're in, it's a whole distinct reality out there. Something that was far too much to comprehend for our own innocent minds."
Taemin sits up, nodding towards him, "You're right. We're like children when we first come in, and then it just hits us how different it truly is being there, in some way corrupting us."
"Yeah, exactly," Woosung agrees, crossing his legs on the chair he's sitting on, bringing the cup to his lap, "That's why I left Oasis. There was just..... Too much that I never asked for. I was losing myself in the process of trying to be a global star. I didn't even think it was that important, but looks like we all reach a breaking point."
It feels slightly refreshing having someone voice out what's been storming inside Jungkook's head about his own agency, and knowing he wasn't the only one who went through what he's currently going through right now.
Makes him feel not so crazy.
"I remember when I reached my breaking point," Jimin suddenly voiced out quietly, his eyes quietly staring at his mug between his hands, frowning, "I got drugged one night while I was at a party, before my singing career. Funny thing is, I wasn't even going to go. Days before, I got sick. Two days prior, my parents voiced how they were worried about me. One day before, my partner broke up with me because of my bad habits. That day, I took a nap and had a dream of something stopping me from going out, but I still went."
Everyone's eyes are sole focused on him, just as Jimin quietly twirled his tea, frowning, "Hm, I still remember how I felt so disconnected from my surroundings. I was so lost and everyone around me appeared like demons - like some nightmare. I was trying to find my way out, but I was so scared, so I found myself on my knees, begging God to help me. I never believed in God, but I needed the help of someone, anything. In the end, I got help from this old lady who saw me shaken up by the side walk, she was like my walking angel. She got me to a hospital, and I never saw her again."
Jimin stares at his cup with a troubling gaze, a weak smile on his lips before he takes a sip. Taemin rubs his back gently, resulting with Jimin comfortably resting his legs over his to be more comfortable on his seat. Jeongguk watched the two silently, finding it quite comforting and warm seeing how tender they are with each other. Jimin has this energy that Jungkook has been witness to since they've met, something he never was able to understand. Taemin also has something similar but just more vibrant and oozing with sincerity.
Mixing the two together is interesting because expecting something completely ablaze to erupt, it's something so calm and soft.
They give this sense of hope to people, and Jeongguk can't exactly say hope in what exactly.
They just do.
"Yeah, we all gotta break a little here and there, right?" Woosung sighs, rubbing his mug with a hand before casting his eyes to Jeongguk, "What about you? Assuming you're here and not in Oasis."
Jeongguk knew he'd have to speak eventually, and surprisingly he doesn't feel defensive about it either. Something about this room, this ambient, the intimate lighting and warm setting is giving this impression of receiving a warm hug.
Who knows, maybe he spiritually is.
His eyes suddenly found the verse that's printing above Karma's head against the wall, just as he was doubting himself over for a second.
"Moses said to the Lord, "Pardon your servant, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoke to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." The Lord said to him, "Who gave human beings their mouths? Who can make them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go: I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." - Exodus 4:10-14
Jungkook doesn't know why he was staring so intensively at it, rereading it over and over again, even having Minnie for a moment trace his eyes to read the verse as well. Karma for a second even was growing twitchy by Jungkook silence, but after a few seconds Jungkook just relaxed and looks around.
"I mean, we all kinda know the story -"
"I don't, I'm new," Woosung chirps, sipping his tea, "Care to enlighten me?"
Jungkook couldn't tell if he was being serious or not, but in a way, he senses that this is perhaps Woosung's way to have Jungkook open up more about himself.
Who knows, Woosung is a little strange. Jungkook can't read him.
So trying to gather his thoughts together, he decided to focus as though he's talking to Woosung, "Well, I was a trainee in Oasis for a while before debuting. They didn't want me to debut yet since J-Hope during that time made it quite big, so they didn't find it necessary for fresh faces, however to make myself relevant, they wanted me to release music through iCloud. I didn't have a big fanbase if I'm being quite honest."
Jimin sits up a little, twitching a frown, "Well.... I knew you before -"
"I know," Jungkook whispers back, meeting his eyes, "You were the first to say anything to me about my music, specifically about a song I didn't really believe in. Yet... Here we are," And Jungkook rubs his shoulders, feeling a cold shiver down his spine, "I got signed once J-Hope was on tour, since they need the company to keep running with new faces. They didn't think my album was gonna make it far, but well.... It did, but unfortunately not with the music I wanted to release."
Now everyone is listening attentively, even Karma from the other side with his droopy eyes, and Jungkook continued, "I was so happy. I got everything I ever wanted and more. I got fame, a bigger fanbase, shows, got invited to so many events - people just acknowledged me, you know? But that's the thing, they acknowledged Raven. They acknowledged his personality, his taste of music, his reputation. Raven and I are just.... Not even the same person. I wouldn't typically do half the shit I'd do as Raven, and it was hard shrugging it off at a point."
Suddenly Jungkook drinks more of his tea, since he felt his throat drying up suddenly the more he spoke, clearing his throat now, "Anyways, it was just a spiral downhill from there. I started doing cocaine, fucked too many people to count, and didn't take mercy in sabotaging my competition as long as it meant I'd be on top. I didn't care, I loved being famous."
Now this is where Jungkook's voice trailed off, especially the deeper he got into his own thoughts. Everyone looks at him expectantly now, but Taemin was more prepared in case this is a moment where Jungkook just.... Breaks apart.
Woosung slowly sits up, "Until...?"
Jungkook stares intensively at the coffee table, feeling his eyes burning but with not having the energy in himself to cry. He has had enough moments of crying, he doesn't want to again.
Even if he could.
"Then my parents passed away, with my brother about to reach into a coma," Jungkook says numbly, feeling completely still, "Everything from that moment was just.... Downhill. I lost everyone, well more so I pushed them away because of ..... How much I hated myself - No, not myself, Raven. Everyone loved Raven, and they only knew Raven, meanwhile I hated him. I hated him with a burning passion, and I wanted everyone to hate him too, and it worked."
Jungkook eyes slowly met Karma's, who's looking at him with a piercing stare as though he's refusing to be nudged by Jungkook's words. Truthfully, Jungkook doesn't want Karma to forgive him, or even acknowledge him. Jungkook wants him to still hate him, with everything in his body, so it can be a reminder of what Jungkook truly deserves.
To feel nothing.
To be nothing.
That's why he has nothing.
"I lost my home, my agency, and.... I don't know anymore," Jungkook sighs, shrugging to himself as he fixes his eyes to the rest, "I feel as though I've been too desensitized with myself that I just.... Can't process anything. I can't feel anything. It doesn't bug me, but..... Sometimes I just want to cry, like how I did that night."
Meeting Minnie's gaze was a reminder to Jungkook of how vulnerable to truly can be around the right people. He's been too caught up hiding his emotions that he never allowed himself to be given the chance to.... Feel anything more. Minnie was just the kick he needed to let it out, and he did. There's still a great remain lingering behind, but he just doesn't have it in him for another round of being emotional.
Even if he should, and could.
Doesn't mean he didn't love his parents, he very much did, but he just.... He can't feel anything now.
Perhaps he's still in denial. He often tells himself how his mom would be working around certain times, or how others his dad would be with his friends playing cards. He sometimes forgets they disappearance when he calls his mom's number to talk to her about whatever came to mind, but then is reminded when the line goes directly to voicemail.
Yeah, perhaps he hasn't processed it yet.
He refused to.
"Hey, um," Jimin starts off, sitting up with legs off Taemin, now having them crossed, "If you're looking for a place to crash, you can stay with me until you can get back to your feet."
Jungkook immediately snaps his head up, quickly shaking his head, "What? No. After everything I've said and done to you, even have thought about you alone - No."
"Jungkook," Another wave of shivers ran down Jungkook's spine, "It's okay. I mean, I know how you felt about him, and I know I never shrugged you in the right places, but I think I can be someone who you may need now. Let me help you. I can help you look for a place to live, but if you need somewhere for a few days, stay with me."
"No, I just -"
"Just what?"
"I feel too guilty," Jungkook painfully admits, shaking his head to himself, "You've been always too nice to me, and I always never failed to be a jerk. I don't deserve your kindness."
Jimin slowly smiles, shaking his head, "We all deserve a little bit of kindness. We've all be in those dark areas of our life, I'm not different - neither is Taemin or Woosung. We get it. Something God taught us is to always have an open heart and open to forgiveness."
Jungkook grimaces, looking down, "Forgiving too easily makes you a coward. You may never know if the person may commit the same mistakes again."
"And if they do, so what?" Taemin chimes in, smiling, "You can always try again, and again, and again. Patience is key. You will find your way, and perhaps being around us will help you."
They are giving Jungkook's darkened heart too much hope right now.
He doesn't want to accept it, he really didn't, but when his eyes subtly shifted towards Minnie, out of subconsciousness, her eyes were pleading into his to take the offer. He's been strangely relying on her too much for decisions, and perhaps that has a lot to do because she's the start in his turning.
She was ever so bold enough to tell him what to do for the better of his path, not sugarcoating anything. He relies on her forwardness in some way, almost like an anchor from making reckless decisions.
And it seems as though Karma was not blind to the sudden dependency and intimacy between the two.
His eyes glances from Minnie and then to Jungkook, suddenly glaring, "Is there something I should know about the two of you?"
Something in his tone is heavy and near accusing, causing a sudden stir in the air between everyone as all eyes suddenly shifted towards him. He's aggressively staring at Jungkook, despite his still position on the couch, almost like a calming sudden aggressiveness.
Jungkook throat immediately got clogged from speaking, especially upon having Karma looking at him like this, and thankfully Minnie voiced it out first with a hand on his arm, "Be gentle, we're just friends -"
"Since when?" Karma suddenly spats, looking at her, "The fuck are you not telling me?"
Jungkook did not like that tone Karma used on her, at all. Quickly he got to his feet, directing the attention onto him, specifically Karma's attention away from Minnie, "Since when? How about the time I was in my lowest point? To which you were never there when I needed someone."
Karma boldly perks an eyebrow, shooting to his feet as well, "When you needed someone? May I remind you that you're the one who pushed me away! You were trying to sabotage every single good thing coming for me, all out of some fucking jealousy!"
"Jealousy?!" Jungkook suddenly barks a laugh, "Why would I be jealous of someone who got to this point because of me!"
Karma steps forward, the coffee table in the way, his glare now lethal, "And now look where you are," That was a knife to Jungkook's gut, "You have no family, no friends, no home, no agency - you have nothing. Not even God would waste a second on someone who ruins the faith of others for their on selfish desires, just like how you did to me."
Jungkook didn't know what to say back, and he couldn't either. He knows Karma is right, he won't argue with him there, and because he's right it hurts more. Can't argue that Jungkook is any better, he isn't. He started this, just as he stated with Karma's career.
And now he carries the burden of what was the effect of it.
Karma takes Minnie's hand, casting one last glare to Jungkook, "Talk to her again and I'll make sure you know why they call me Karma," And with that he walks out the studio.
Not before Minnie sends a strained frown towards Jungkook, following after Karma.
When the door suddenly closed shut, now the silence is what was left.
A suffocating silence.
One that left Jungkook trembling with tears burning his eyes, even choking in his own breath to the reality of his now relationship with Karma.
From being intimate friends to now unable to even last a conversation together.
He has changed, but then again so has Jungkook.
Things are not the same as how they were in the beginning.
And who knows if it'll ever be again.
"Well, that was fun," Woosung suddenly blurts out, snapping everyone out of their own daze. He gets to his feet, stretching himself before grabbing the blanket between the chair he was sitting on and wraps it around himself like a cape, holding onto his tea mug, "So, same time tomorrow? Oh and Jungkook, would advise to work on your narcissistic tendencies there."
Jungkook snaps his eyes towards him, narrowing them, "Narcissistic tendencies?! I am right -"
"And now I'm going to have my moment of prayer so please, everyone leave, I need my moment with the bestie."
The bestie?
Is that how he refers to Jesus as?
A hand on Jungkook's shoulder startles him, his eyes finding Jimin's - who glances to Woosung with a knowing grin before looking back to him, "Come, we have some packing up to do."
"But I still didn't agree to go with you."
"Do you have another option?"
Well...... No....
Yeah.... No.
Well, technically he could go to a hotel and -
Risk dispatch catching him there with all his shit... Or fans finding out his locations and start stalking him....
Right....
The defeated look on Jungkook's face was enough proof for Jimin to smile brightly and grabs his arm, "Let's go, Taemin will drive us there."
Jungkook furrows his eyebrows, since he didn't hear Taemin agreeing to this once, but to his surprise Taemin didn't' hesitate in taking out his keys and walking out the door.
Yeah, his and Jimin's bond is something he can't possibly comprehend at all, almost like a silent language between the two.
It's just too sweet.
And now it looks as though Jungkook will be at the center of the bond, while being showered with it too.
Yippie....
