Epilogue
I look at my reflection in the mirror and smile. I run my fingers over my dress. I never thought this day would come. I’ve been dreaming of this day for years!
It isn’t exactly the way I thought it would be after all those years but I think it’s just as good. Nothing can ruin my mood today. Today is a huge day for me.
“Stop staring at the mirror and let’s go! Everyone’s waiting for you!” Emma yells at me but the excited smile never leaves her face.
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” I tell her as I take one final look in the mirror to make sure that I’m ready then I follow her out of the room.
I walk slowly so that I don’t trip and break something. Today is not the day to be clumsy.
“The limo is waiting!” I hear Janna call from downstairs. I chuckle and shake my head at their enthusiasm even though I’m just as enthusiastic as them. Today is the start of a new phase in my life.
When I get to the bottom of the stairs, I see my prom date’s blond hair. I swallow and take another step. He notices my presence and immediately turns around to face me.
He freezes and I do the same.
We both just stare at each other.
He is looking more than handsome in his suit and I can’t stop my thoughts from drifting to the years we have spent together.
I remember like it was yesterday the day that George walked into my room at the age of thirteen when I saw Jeremy for the first time.
I remember how I felt when my parents told me that we were moving to where Jeremy lives and I’ll be going to his same school.
I remember the secretary telling me that I was in the same section as him.
I remember meeting Jeremy in person for the first time.
I remember going with him to the church meeting for the first time.
I remember kissing him for the first time.
I remember telling him about the camera and his reaction to that piece of information.
I remember the sleepover and the second kiss.
I remember first day back to school after Christmas vacation.
I remember becoming his girlfriend.
I remember talking to George about the spying thing.
I remember every single incident, detail, and conversation.
Jeremy and I had a lot of fights over the years but that doesn’t mean that our relationship ended. On the contrary, it got stronger.
I have always believed that fighting is necessary in a relationship because making mistakes and fighting shows that we’re human and that our relationship is real.
It also sometimes makes us think about the possibility of losing the other person and we notice how much we don’t want it to happen so it strengthens our love for each other.
My mom’s squeals snap me out of my thoughts. “Pictures!” She yells, holding the camera.
“Calm down!” I hear my dad telling her and I roll my eyes at them.
Jeremy smiles, already used to my parents now.
“You look beautiful,” he tells me as my parents argue about God knows what.
“Couldn’t you come up with something more original? That was such a cliché thing to say right now,” I reply and he laughs.
“Even after all those years you still surprise me,” he says, shaking his head at me.
I wink at him as I take the last few steps down the stairs to stand next to him.
“And I’m sorry for not being original. Your beauty left me speechless,” he says and I blush slightly.
“That’s a bit better,” I joke and he smirks.
“It shows. It made you blush,” he teases me and I narrow my eyes at him.
“Turn around! Let me take some pictures,” my mom says excitedly, interrupting our conversation.
We do as she says so that she doesn’t keep us waiting for much longer. After about one hundred and seventy pictures, my dad finally hears us complain and drags my mom away.
“What took you two so long?”Emma complains when we step into the white limo waiting for us outside.
“Pictures,” I reply, rolling my eyes.
Jeremy sits next to me and holds my hand without even noticing that he did and I smile at that. It’s nice to have such a cute gesture feel so natural.
Gavin gives us two glasses of champagne before smiling at me and saying, “I might steal you away from Jeremy tonight. You look hot in that dress.”
He adds a wink and Laura hits him with her purse just before he can drink the champagne in his own glass.
“Ouch! No need to be violent,” he scolds her.
“When you stop flirting with other girls I will stop the violence,” she says, narrowing her eyes at him.
We were all used to their fighting now. They’ve been together for five months now and they are constantly bickering but we all know that they are so in love with each other.
“Even tonight you have to fight?” Emma who is sitting next to her neighbor –and boyfriend of one year— Frank, says. Frank is a cute guy with blond hair and blue eyes. At first I didn’t like him much because he always seemed so arrogant but once I got to know him better I started seeing what Emma liked about him. He has a really sweet side.
Janna and Rena were currently single but they had prom dates. Janna was with a guy from a different section at our school and Rena was with a guy we didn’t know.
Amelia and Henry started dating around the same time as Jeremy and I did. When that happened, I couldn’t stop my thoughts from going back to what George had said.
He said that if it weren’t for the cameras, Jeremy would’ve fallen for Amelia and I would’ve fallen for Henry. It seemed a bit weird that these two ended up together.
I still talk to George and I have seen him around four or five times in the past few years. At first I kept on opening up the camera subject but he kept on telling me to let it go and I eventually did. The conclusions that I came up with were that George was either cupid/fairy/psychic or just plain creepy.
That situation kind of reminded me of the movie ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ and I wondered if it were possible that our lives were really planned and George was the guy to fix this in order for things to go according to plan.
It is still a mystery to Jeremy and me but we try not to think about it anymore because it won’t get us anywhere.
“What are you thinking about?” I hear Jeremy whisper in my ear.
“How cute Rena’s date is,” I reply, smirking at him.
“Even on prom night you have to hurt my feelings,” he says, putting a hand over his heart and giving me a sad look.
“I know,” I reply, shaking my head solemnly. “I don’t even know why you didn’t dump me yet.”
“I’m thinking the same thing. I’m too good for you,” he says.
I raise my eyebrows at him and slap his shoulder.
“You are not!” I say, even though a part of me always thinks that he’s too good for me. “I was expecting a better reply.”
“You’re the one who started talking about other guys,” he points out. “So you started this quarrel.”
I scoff. “First, it’s one guy and second, you should learn how to talk to girls properly.”
“Oh shut up,” he says, rolling his eyes at me.
“Don’t tell me what to d—”
He cuts me off by kissing me. I’m not sure if I like that or not. He notices my hesitation so he prolongs the kiss and it works a bit.
When he pulls away, he smirks at me.
“Don’t do that again,” I say a few seconds later and he smiles innocently.
Suddenly, Gavin turns up the music and starts dancing like a freak inside the limo. We laugh at him but he doesn’t seem to mind as he continues his ‘dance’. Around a minute later we all join them, starting our prom night with a weird dance and a good laugh.
Soon we arrive to where our prom is being held and get out of our limo.
I gasp as I walk into the place. It’s a huge garden decorated with gold and blue decorations. There are a few tables with food on them and music is already playing even though there aren’t many people on the dance floor. Lights are everywhere in the garden, making the green grass look beautiful.
We walk the trail of the garden and I can’t help but stare at the lights on both sides of the trail, giving off a dim light.
We stop under the archway and the guy with the camera takes a picture of every couple.
The people who took care of planning our prom did a wonderful job! Everything looks so amazing and even the food is delicious. It did cost a lot of money but it is all worth it.
That night we are not divided into cliques. We are all just one big group, having a great night together to celebrate the end of our high school lives.
It isn’t until ten thirty that everyone starts dancing. After a few songs, the DJ switches to a slow song and immediately the dance floor is full of couples.
As I’m dancing with Jeremy, I think about the day when I first started school around the age of five. I remember seeing the older students and thinking that I will never reach their position. I still can’t believe that I’m finally done with school. It’s prom! Our prom! I’m not a kid anymore and the real life will start after tonight.
I am excited for what will be coming next. I will be finally able to study what I want and do what I want in my life. Even now, I still wasn’t sure which university I wanted to go to so I wasn’t sure if I was going to be in the same university as Jeremy or not. But it didn’t matter.
I knew that our love was bigger than any distance so I wasn’t worrying about not attending the same university as him. We would still have the same relationship either way.
My eyes meet Jeremy’s blue ones and he smiles at me as I play with his hair. His eyes twinkle under the moonlight and I can’t help but think of how beautiful he really is. As the song ends, he leans down and kisses me gently, making my heart beat accelerate.
I finally look up at the stars and see millions of them shining brightly and I am reminded of how big this world is. The thought doesn’t scare me. On the contrary, it excites me.
I want to experience everything in this world and I want to do that with Jeremy by my side. Just as I think about this, I see a shooting star and I somehow know that tonight, even though it’s the end of our high school years, it is also the start of the rest of our lives; the better and happier part of our lives and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
THE END

This story is now officially completed.
It took me around five months to finish it and it's around 61,500 words. It's the shortest one among my stories here on Wattpad but I don't think it could've been any longer. I'm happy with the way it is (:
Thank you for everyone who has read my story. I hope you all enjoyed reading it (:
There will not be a sequel for this story. I'm not a fan of sequels.
There will be other stories, though. I'm not sure when I will start posting them but it should be around the beginning of February.
Happy Birthday to madisond15. Have a wonderful year! :)
