At school today, there was a new student named Chrystal. People already started to called her Cristi like they are her best friend already!

I was sitting at a table at lunch when I saw Cristi looking for a place to sit. I normally sit alone so there is always extra seats where I eat.

"Is anyone sitting here?" She asked.

"Me?" I asked. She laughed.

"Yea."

"You can have a seat." I said. She sat down.

"So, what's your name?"

"Gio. Your Cristi, right??"

"Yup."

I've never talked to someone who wanted to talk to me before!! I'm lovin this!!

After school that day, I ran into Cristi.

"Hey do you want to hang out on Saturday?" She asked.

I was stunned. I was about to say I'd ask my aunt but that would be uncool so I just said:

"Sure."

"Cool, here's my phone number."

Then she wrote her number on a piece of paper and have to me. I smiled.

As I got in the car, Aunt asked, "Who is that?"

"My friend."

"What's her name?"

"Do you have to know who everyone is?"

She raised her eyebrows. I sighed.

"Cristi."

"I couldn't help but overhear your hanging out with her Saturday?"

"Yup."

"Good job!!" Then she started to high five me but I just shook my head in my hands. Aunts these days. I wonder if my parents would be like that. What it would be like to still have parents. I sighed again.
