Why is it that the girl in the movie is only beautiful when a boy changes her?

I'm sick of the scene where she takes of her glasses and suddenly she's the most amazing girl in the world.

What are girls going to think?

"I can only be stunning when I've "bettered" myself,"

What are boys going to think?

"Oh in order for the girl I love to be beautiful she will have to change."

I think that's damaging to everybody, but maybe that's just silly.

Maybe I'm just the girl who desperately wants people to love her for just the way she is.
