It was close to Christmas and Spirit watched as the lights dimmed before spotlights moved around the ring. Spirit was currently on the trapeze on the opposite side from Robin, he was really hoping this wouldn't end badly. He was wearing a white and red costume with long sleeves and a high collar so no one could see his scars.

The others thought it was odd but Robin knew what his reasons were so he didn't question his costume choice. They were a new act in a circus, he and Robin were on the trapeze, Miss Martian was on the tightrope, Superboy was their strong man, and Artemis and Red Arrow were archers, which was expected.

Before Spirit knew it the ringmaster, Haley, was announcing their act, "And these are our latest pearls, Dan Danger." The spot light was on Robin who waved a little before starting the act, Spirit started the same time he did. "Drake Danger." The spotlight moved to him as he and Robin did a trick in the air and grabbed the trapeze bars again.

"Dawn Danger," It moved to Miss Martian. "Diane Danger," To Artemis. "Dane Danger," To Red Arrow. "And Dean Danger," It moved to Superboy. Superboy threw two barrels into the air while Spirit and Robin let go of their bars and the archers shot three arrows each. Robin and Spirit went through the barrels and grabbed into the bars when they got to them.

Robin flipped around on the bar and Spirit grabbed onto the bar with the back of his knees so he could catch Robin. Haley spoke again, "You will never see another trapeze act like this folks, and all performed without a net." Robin let go of his bar and reached for Spirit's hands but fell short and he started to fall, Spirit's eyes widened.

Miss Martian shouted into the mind link, 'Robin!'

People in the crowd screamed and Robin spoke, 'Don't blow our cover!'

Superboy spoke, 'But saving your life's okay?' Superboy threw a barrel up which Robin landed on and it brought him back up to where Spirit was. Spirit managed to grab Robin's hand and he quietly sighed, he refused to lose his boyfriend, especially like this.

They both landed on the platform and waved at the crowd as they whistled and cheered, Spirit spoke into the mind link. 'Normally you wouldn't miss that, what the hell happened?'

Robin looked surprisingly exhausted, 'I don't know, I think I caught that twenty-four hour bug that's been going around the circus, but the show must go on.'

Spirit glanced at him in worry as Robin remembered what happened when he was giving them the mission. He had a map pulled up with three places marked on the map, Miss Martian, Superboy, Artemis, and Spirit were listening to him give them the details. Spirit already knew about it but he listened anyway, it's not like he had anything better to do.

Robin spoke, "Advanced weapons tech has been stolen at manufacturing plants throughout Europe. And each theft coincides with stops made by the Haley Circus, Batman sending us undercover to catch the thieves."

Red Arrow walked up behind him, "This clown car have room for one more?"

Robin didn't seem too sure about the idea, "Uh we've, we've got this covered."

Red Arrow leaned closer to him, "You've got the mission covered, but who's covering the four potential mole suspects your bringing along?"

Robin glared at Red Arrow, no matter how many times he said he was sure Spirit wasn't the mole Red Arrow wouldn't listen. Robin came back to his senses when they were safely back on the ground and Haley spoke, "Put your hands together for the daring Dangers!" The crowd cheered for them again and they all waved, Spirit could tell Robin wasn't doing well so he helped his boyfriend get backstage.

As the group was walking backstage the fire breather looked a bit frantic and ran up to someone, "Ray, have you seen my other torch?"

Ray tossed him his missing torch, "Here, you dropped it outside the train."

The fire breather smiled, "Thanks, you're a lifesaver."

Ray got up and gave the fire breather a pat on the back as he walked out, "Break a leg."

Spirit didn't know why but something seemed off about it, it gave him a weird feeling that he didn't like. After Haley announced the next act he entered the backstage area and two of the performers, whom Spirit guessed were brothers, walked up to him. "Haley what's the deal, giving the top slot to those Danger kids."

The second spoke, "That's our slot."

Haley looked a little mad, "Was your slot until you missed that performance in Paris."

The first spoke, "Carlo was sick, he's better now."

Carlo spoke, "Plus those Dangers are a sham, they say they're brothers and sisters, they don't even look alike."

Haley pushed past them, "Oh you just don't like the competition." Spirit thought about that for a second, his tone of voice and body language made Spirit think he was covering for them. Did Haley know they weren't just circus performers, Spirit wouldn't doubt it, he did know Robin when he was still in the circus.

Haley stopped when a man with grey, almost white hair a bit like him, stood in his way. Haley spoke, "Oh for crying out loud not you again, we're in the middle of a show."

The man spoke, "Then we'll talk after, but we will talk, another city last week, another tech firm robbed, another stop on your tour. If I prove your responsible I will shut you down."

Haley looked like he was just barely keeping his cool, "I've got three minutes to gather props and get back to center ring." Haley walked past the man and Spirit bit back a growl, he didn't like government agents anyway but this guy set him on edge.

The man looked around before he walked up to them and Spirit backed up a little, he didn't want to be anywhere near this guy. He took out his badge and showed it to them, "Faraday, Interpol, new act?"

Robin spoke, "Yeah, just joined the tour."

Faraday put his badge away, "Probably clears you, but don't get too comfortable, Haley's going down for this." Faraday walked away and Spirit once again bit back a growl, Robin didn't look happy either.

Hours later they were watching a building from the surrounding rooftops and Superboy spoke into the mind link. 'If Interpol's already on this then why are we bothering?'

Robin spoke, 'Because Batman said so, why, you have something better to do?'

Artemis spoke, 'How do we know the thieves will hit here?'

Red Arrow spoke, 'There are more obvious targets.'

Robin spoke, 'And Faraday will have them covered, but I've analyzed the tech already stolen and the pattern suggests this is the place.'

Robin rubbed his eyes and Spirit got a little worried, 'How are you feeling?'

Robin took his hand away from his eyes, 'Lousy, actually, but I'll manage.'

Spirit looked even more worried and Robin smiled but they both knew it was fake, that was when Spirit noticed a heartbeat. It was far away and a lot closer to the ground then they were but it was a heartbeat, then Superboy spoke. 'Contact, north-east quadrant.'

Spirit looked at where Superboy said the person was and he saw them use the side of the lamppost near the fence to jump off of and over the fence. Superboy spoke again, 'Looks like we know why Carlo missed a performance.'

Spirit spoke, 'It could also be his brother, we can't jump to conclusions yet.'

Robin spoke, 'Spirit's right, keep an open mind and move it.'

They jumped from the rooftop and once they got to the ground they hid in the shadows, Robin spoke. 'Did you see where he went?'

Spirit listened for the heartbeat he heard earlier and he spoke, 'The warehouse.'

Superboy looked through the walls using his infrared vision, 'I can see him.' Robin moved toward the warehouse and everyone else followed, they snuck into the warehouse and watched from the support beams. While they watched the man pry open a crate Spirit noticed something, his scent was weird, he wasn't sure how to describe it but he hated it.

After the man took something from the crate Robin laughed and the man looked up, "Caught red handed, red faced too I'll bet."

Artemis spoke, "Acrobatics won't get you out of this."

The man took out a torch and breathed fire at Artemis, Red Arrow, and Superboy, the three jumped out of the way just in time. The fire started to burn the warehouse and when the fire reached Superboy the kryptonian faced the heat head on, literally. Red Arrow was about to shoot an arrow at the man when he noticed something, "Those crates are full of live ammo, move!"

They all tried to run out of the warehouse but the crates blew up before they could, Spirit managed to shield them before they got seriously injured. Superboy pushed the debris off of them and Spirit dropped the shield, Superboy looked beyond pissed. "That guy is dead meat."

Superboy started to run off but Robin shouted, "Superboy no!" Superboy looked at him, "You need to get her out." Miss Martian looked like she was barely conscious at the moment, Spirit stayed close to her and cooled the air around them a bit to try and help her.

Superboy got even more mad, "He's getting away!"

Spirit spoke, "And that guy matters more then Miss Martian, the fire is going to kill her if you don't get her out."

Superboy seemed to suddenly come back to his senses, "Right, right." Superboy grabbed Miss Martian and carried her out of the building as fast as he could.

Robin spoke, "Come on, we need to find the thief."

Robin slowly fell to his knees and Spirit was at his side in seconds, "Hell no, I'm getting you out of here." Spirit helped Robin stand and he lead his boyfriend out of the building, Artemis helped support Robin and Red Arrow followed. The flames were getting too high so he wouldn't be able to chase the thief anyway.

They managed to get Robin and Miss Martian back to the circus so they could rest, they both looked horrible. The next day they were backstage when they saw Faraday and Haley arguing, neither of them looked happy. Faraday spoke, "Another weapons plant is hit, and once again the circus is in town, I don't believe in coincidences."

Haley spoke, "I don't care what you believe, my people are not responsible, I did a bed check last night, every single member of my troupe was asleep in their bunks."

Miss Martian spoke into the mink link, 'Well we sure weren't.'

Artemis spoke, 'And if he's lying about us...'

Robin looked at the ground and Spirit held his hand, he could tell that Robin was starting to doubt that Haley wasn't involved. They went back to their small room in one of the train cars and started talking about what might be going on. Artemis spoke, 'So two thieves right, the fire breather and one of the acrobats.'

Miss Martian spoke, 'Dressed in identical clothes.'

Robin had his holo-glove on and Spirit watched what he was doing before Robin spoke, 'Maybe not just two, here's the Madrid security footage.' The footage showed someone prying the bars on one of the windows open with their bare hands. Robin changed the footage, 'And now Paris.' This footage showed someone walking on a power line.

Red Arrow spoke, 'So the strong man and the clown too, if the entire circus is involved maybe Haley himself is the mastermind.'

Spirit felt himself get a little angry when he heard that, Haley truly believed no one in the circus had committed those robberies. He was listening to his heartbeat the whole time, his body language and tone of voice said the same thing. Robin spoke, 'You don't know that.'

Miss Martian spoke, 'It would explain his lies.'

Robin stood up, he looked angry, "I told you to keep an open mind."

Robin walked out of the small room and Spirit mentally sighed, "God damn it." Spirit got up and went after Robin, Spirit eventually caught up to Robin outside and he ran up to Robin. He didn't even get a chance to talk before Robin hugged him and Spirit hugged him back, "You okay?"

Robin sighed, "Not really." Robin let go of the halfa and looked at the ground, "What if Haley really is involved?"

Spirit grabbed Robin's hand, "I'd have a hard time believing it."

Robin gave Spirit a confused look, "Really?"

Spirit nodded, "Haley wasn't lying to Faraday when he said no one was involved with the thefts. If someone in the circus is involved he doesn't know about it, he isn't part of this, I'm sure of that."

Robin still looked confused, "Then why did he lie?"

"I think he knows we're not just circus performers, when he was talking to Carlo and his brother he brushed off the contradictions to our cover story. I'm pretty sure he lied to Faraday because he was covering for us, if Faraday knew we were gone last night he would have taken us in for questioning, Haley was trying to stop him."

Robin stared at Spirit for a minute before he smiled and kissed him, "You're absolutely amazing you know that?"

Spirit blushed a little and looked away, "Shut up." Robin's smile widened and he kissed Spirit again, he was glad that Spirit was with him.
