That day is the last training for the 2018-2019 season for Cardiff City. That weekend, they will visit Brighton & Hove Albion for the last fixture of the league season which they only need a draw to stay in Premier League next season. If they lost, they will be relegate to the Championship while Brighton that currently at the 18th place on the league table will stay in Premier League.

"Okay, boys. That's all for today. I'll see you tomorrow" said the team manager; Neill Warnock.

"Hey, Ryan. Do you want to go and grab some lunch together?" asked the captain; Joe Ralls.

"Sure thing. Who else?" asked Ryan.

"Just us and Nathaniel" replied Ralls.

"Okay. Let's go then" said Ryan. He then picked up his bag before walked out from the locker room with Ralls. Then, they saw their teammate; Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is waiting for them.

"Come on, mate. I'm hungry" said Mendez-Laing.

"Fine. Let's go now" replied Ralls. Then, all 3 of them making their way to a diner.

Later at the diner;

"So, how did you boys feel for tomorrow?" asked Ralls.

"I'm not going to lie. I'm fucking nervous for tomorrow" replied Ryan.

"Same goes to me. It's do or die match for us" said Mendez-Laing.

"Yes. But, we need to believe that we will survive and stay in Premier League next season" said Ralls.

"That's true. We just need to win this match. That's what matter now" said Ryan.

"Yeah. But, let me advice you a bit, Ryan. If we failed to stay in Premier League, you better go to a better team next season if you got any offer" said Mendez-Laing.

"That's true. You're just 21 years old this July after all. You have a great future" said Ralls.

"If there is any club in the top tier division ever wants me, then I'll go" said Ryan.

"I'm sure there will be at least one. You scored 14 goals in the league this season after all despite playing with a club that currently fight to avoid relegation" said Mendez-Laing.

"That's true. Just need to believe in yourself a bit more" said Ralls.

"Thanks for the peep talk, guys. Really appreciate it. But for now, let's just focus for this weekend" said Ryan. Ralls and Mendez-Laing just nodded.

Later on;

Ryan just arrived home after having lunch with his teammates. He then switched on the computer and saw and email from United States Soccer Federation (USSF)

"It's been a while since the last time USSF ever contacted me. I wonder" mumbled Ryan alone. He then clicked on the email and read it. That email said that he was chosen for the USA Men National Team for the 2019 Gold Cup tournament. He needs to be in the training camp for USMNT and USWNT 2 weeks after the league ended if he wants to represent USA.

"USWNT will be there too, huh. I wonder if she will still recognised me if I go there" mumbled Ryan again.

That weekend,

All Cardiff City squad arrived at Falmer Stadium before the final fixture of the season. After changed into their training kits, all players making their way to the pitch for warming up session.

"Full house, huh" said Ryan.

"Yeah. Brighton is so lucky to have a homeground advantage in this do or die match" said Mendez-Laing.

"That's true. But playing at the homeground in this type of match can gives another pressure too" said Ralls.

"That's true. We just need to focus if we want to win this match" said Camarasa. Later, all players returned to the dressing room to change into their match kits.

Cardiff City 1st eleven: Etheridge (GK); Peltier, Morrison, Ecuele Manga, Bennett (DF); Gunnarsson, Ralls, Mendez-Laing, Camarasa, Hoilett (MF); Morgan (FW)

Inside Team Cardiff City's dressing room;

"Okay, boys. This is it. It is a do or die match. Yes, we just need a draw but Brighton needs a win. So, we can expect them to play all out in this match. We too can't afford to lose this match. So, play with everything you got" said Warnock.

"Yes, sir" replied all players. Then, all of them making their way out from the dressing room.

Later on;

All players already in their position. The match begins with Brighton & Hove Albion kicked off the match.

7th minutes of the match;

The ball is with Pröpper. He then passed the ball to March. March then runs with the ball at the left flank before crossed it to the middle. Murray tried to shoot the ball into the net but Etheridge managed to save the ball.

12 minutes of the match;

The ball is with Ralls. He then passed the ball to Camarasa. Camarasa runs with the ball before passed it through to Ryan. Ryan then shoots the ball outside the penalty box but too bad, the ball hits the post before went out of play. Ryan is so frustrated.

25th minutes of the match;

The ball is with Bennett. He then passed the ball to Hoilett. Hoilett then runs at the left flank before crossed the ball into the penalty box when he nearly reaches the goal line. Ryan then jumped up high before hits the ball with a header but it went a bit off target.

36th minutes of the match;

The ball is with Stephens. He then sent the ball to Groß. Groß then runs with the ball into the penalty box but suddenly, Ecuele Manga tackled him down unclean causing the referee to award Brighton & Hove a penalty kick. Groß then picked the ball up and put it on the white dot inside the penalty box. When the referee blew his whistle, Groß kicked the ball towards the left side of the goal but Etheridge managed to catch the ball.

45th+1 minutes of the match;

The ball with Bernardo. He then runs with the ball before passed it to March. March then sent the ball through to Murray but Morrison came and clears the ball away. Later, the referee blew his whistle signaling a half-time of the match.

Later on inside the dressing room;

"This match really gets on my nerves" said Ryan.

"Chill out, Ryan. We all know how frustrated you are" said Ralls. Ryan sighed heavily.

"I just don't get it. All my shots today either hits the post or went off target" said Ryan.

"We know that. You're really need to calm down right now" said Camarasa. Later on, Warnock came in to brief his tactical for the second half.

Later on;

All players already in their position. Then, the referee blew his whistle to begin the 2nd half of the match.

53rd minutes of the match;

The ball is with Morrison. He then passed the ball to Gunnarsson. Gunnarsson then sent the ball long to Hoilett. Hoilett then passed the ball to Ryan. Ryan then dribbled passing through some Brighton and Hove's players until he reaches the penalty box. Ryan then shoots the ball into the net to finally opened the score of the match.

69th minutes of the match;

The ball is with Ralls. He then passed the ball to Camarasa. Camarasa then passed the ball to Mendez-Laing. Mendez Laing then runs with the ball at the right flank before crossed it into the penalty box when he nearly reaches the goal line. Ryan jumped high before hits the ball with a header into the net to score his 16th league goal of the season. Then, Warnock took Ryan out and sent in Oumar Niasse.

74th minutes of the match;

The ball is with Duffy. He then sent the ball to Jahanbakhsh. Jahanbakhsh then runs with the ball before passed it to Murray. Murray then runs with the ball before shoots the ball into the net to close the gap between the 2 teams.

83rd minutes of the match;

Camarasa with the ball. He then passed the ball to Niasse but suddenly Dunk cuts the pass out before sent it to Pröpper. Pröpper then passed the ball to Groß. Groß then runs with the ball before passed it to Murray. Murray dribbled passing through the Cardiff City's defenders before shoots the ball into the net for the equaliser.

"Seriously?" said Ryan.

"Yes. Brighton & Hove just canceled the gap betweem us" said Murphy.

"Shit" said Ryan.

90th+1 minute of the match;

Brighton and Hove was awarded a corner kick at the crucial moment. After the referee blew his whistle, Bernardo sent the ball into the penalty box before Murray heads the ball into the net. Warnock just shook his head as he knew what will happen next. Then, the referee blew his whistle for the full time. All Brighton and Hove Albion's players, coaching staffs and supporters celebrating their success by staying in the Premier League for next season as Cardiff got relegated to the Championship.

Later on;

All players just done washed up and changed their clothes when Warnock came in.

"Okay, boys. This is the end of season. I know all of you are frustrated with the result. There's nothing we can do right now. All of you had played your best but Brighton & Hove is a better team. So, to all of you, I would like to thank all of you for everything you had done this season. We might meet again next season or we might not. So, I would like to wish you best of luck and enjoy your summer" said Warnock followed by round of applause from everybody.
