White
Bubbles of bright colored light seemed to impede my eyelids as I struggled to force them open. I stared at a ceiling of white. Pure white. I sat up, my head aching from the sudden overdose of brightness. Confused, I looked around the room encased entirely in white. It was overwhelming to be sitting inside of what seemed like a big blank canvas. I looked down. The bed I sat on was metal with a white mattress and crisp, white sheets. It was the only piece of furniture in the entire room. I was wearing a white jumpsuit that I didn't remember ever putting on. I looked around me, turning my head frantically. Nothing. It was bright white everywhere with a single fixture built into the ceiling emitting nothing but that awful white light I was beginning to loathe.
Where was I? Why was I here? Where was everyone? I didn't remember anything. I remembered... Earth. Yes. Earth. Neon city lights and rural country farms and families and school. Sunbathing, stargazing, sightseeing and cookies... yes how could I forget those? Mmm. The thought of food made my empty stomach growl with passion. But somehow I didn't remember how I ended up here or... or who my family was, or where I went to school or anything that felt like it should have been important. My personality was here, but it was like my life... my story, had been erased.
'Think hard. Force yourself to remember' I prompted my brain to pull itself together. But all my formidable fears and unanswered questions were only making my aching head thud harder as I fell back onto my pillow and closed my eyes with a groan. This endless brightness reflecting back into my eyes was doing my head no favours. I couldn't stay here in bed like this. I had to figure this out. I needed to find a way to escape.
Slowly, I sat back up and pushed my legs over the side of the bed. My bare feet met the cold, white floor and I weakly shifted my weight onto them. The room spun. I stumbled forward. Stars blurred my vision and then suddenly amidst the white, everything went black and I collapsed onto the floor.
