MID-SEASON 2 FINALE

Ali could tell, whether it be from the dirt and grime in her hair or the dirt and grime that covered her entire body, that she was dying. Her eyes still rang, and the feeling in her left leg was all but gone now. She wished she could say it didn't hurt, or that she wasn't scared of death, but truth be told she was.

She was scared of dying. She was scared of letting her kingdom down. She was scared that her choices have taken her to the point where she would die alone, in her own castle. Well, she wasn't even sure if you could call it a castle anymore, more like a pile of rubble. And only she wasn't alone.

She could hear Emily beside her, her breathing was deep, but she was awake and sitting it. Even with the darkness around her, she could see Emily. She watched as Emily's blonde hair was now covered in black dust and the red of her blood. She looked around them as if looking for a way to get her out.

"Ali," Emily said, her voice rough and coarse. "We have to get out of here." She stood up slowly, having to bend down due to the boulders surrounding them. She walked over to her, a limp evident that she may have sprained her ankle. "Ali?"

Ali laid her head back down on the concrete. Her bones were aching with pain, and the lack of pain in her leg was making her brain rattle. She felt Emily put her cold hands on her face, so she could get her to look into her eyes. Try as she may, Ali couldn't ignore the gasp that came from Emily as she looked down at her legs.

"Ali you have to get up. Please." She looked around, looking for any light that may peer through the boulders. "You are not allowed to die on me. Don't make me tell Grant you are dead. please."

"You are going to be a grand ruler someday, Emily," Ali muttered. "But your optimism you have for me making it out of here is pointless."

"No." Emily shook her head. "I refuse to think otherwise." Emily went down to her legs to see the damage. The look in her eyes confirmed Natasha's fears. She was dying. She had no conflict with dying, she had a conflict with leaving while the world was burning down in flames.

"Promise me you'll save my people." She nearly cried out, the pain in her head was becoming nearly too much to bear. "Promise me that you'll get them to victory."

"You will be the one to get them there Ali," Emily promised. "HELP!" She cried out, hoping that beyond the screams of the kingdom someone could hear them. She prayed that the neighboring kingdoms were coming to their aid. "They will come." She said before screaming for help one last time.

"Enough," Ali mumbled. "If I am to die then I am to die in peace." She let a soft smile lace her face despite her pain. "Listen to me,"

"Ali please-"

"I love your cousin."

"Yes I know but I do not see how this is relevant."

"I love him. But I fear that he is gone. I fear that his need to hold onto his kingdom has forced him to side with my enemies." Emily's face paled.

"No, you are confused, mistaken. You need fresh air we have to get out of here-"

"Do not let him take over my kingdom you hear me? You will lead my kingdom." Ali struggled to keep her eyes open. She could hear the pleas from Emily to keep her eyes open but she was having so much trouble keeping her eyes on her. She had to rest.

As allowed hope to lead itself away from her, she allowed the pain of failure to overtake her, she allowed for once in her life to let go of her need to protect everything and everyone. She was going to die, if she couldn't save herself how was she bound to save the people of her kingdom?

"Sorry sestra, you ain't dying today"

MID-SEASON 2 PREMIER

"How is she doing?" Ronin asked as he caressed the face of his friend, revealing the cuts on her face that had yet to heal. The nurse had given him a soft nod but even Ronin knew Ali's recovery was not only proceeding slowly but was putting them all at risk. She was asleep, after nearly dying nearly two months ago, she had been put to bed rest in her winter castle, where she and her kingdom had made haste to after the attack. Those who couldn't make the journey were taken to Anthony's kingdom, where he welcomed them all as their castle is being repaired.

The war had quieted, it wasn't over but it seems both sides were weakened in the last attack, regrouping nearly a month after the castle's destruction. A meeting among the Avengers had taken place, Ali in notable absence.

"This war is costing the kingdom so much," Grant began. "With Queen Ali unable to provide for her kingdom, I suggest that we regroup and rethink."

"We can't possibly back away from battle without losing more than we care to admit." Christopher hissed back.

"Grant is right," Robert said, "Statistically, I am unsure how we can make it out of the full war without losing our armies and our people."

"We join forces, we combine our armies and Ali's. They are a god-forsaken band of rebels, what damage can they really do to us?" Anthony commented.

"With Ali barely able to stand how is she expected to rule her kingdom," Grant said. "Had you and she just listened to be her kingdom wouldn't be suffering."

"Well we didn't," Anthony said. "So get over it."

"Arguing is getting us nowhere," Grant demanded. "We shouldn't have come together, to begin with, if you all are so incapable of depicting all the outcomes."

"I'm sorry like you?" Anthony hissed. "You aren't the man of rightness so stop pretending like you are-"

"Enough all of you," The men all turned to see Emily before them. The men all whispered a short 'your highness' before Grant asked what she was doing as she wasn't invited to the meeting.

"I am taking over for Ali," She replied taking a seat at the table.

"Under who's orders?" Anthony asked raising an eyebrow. He had nothing against the princess but he wasn't sure having Grant's cousin as another person teaming up against him was the best course of action.

"Queen Ali's." She said simply. "And while I wish I was here under different circumstances, it would appear if you boys have a trader among you."
