|| The Set ||

Izuku decided he wanted to be an actor when he saw his soon to be idol, Yagi Toshinori, playing the superhero All Might on his television at four in the morning.

He had been up crying over the horrendous things kids were doing to him at school, and seeing such a positive person captivated his attention. He stayed up the rest of the night researching the man, only becoming more invested as he realized how similar Yagi was to All Might.

Now here he was nine years later, age 22, on the set of a television show produced and directed by the legend himself. He was practically vibrating as he showed himself around, muttering quietly to himself, making notes of anything he thought could be of importance.

He was cast as an abused underling to the first season's main villain with the potential to become a main character if the audience liked him enough. He prayed they would so he could work with his idol as long as he possibly could.

Izuku clutches his script tight, going over his lines, making sure he won't forget anything when he's out there. But soon, he panics, realizing he needs to get his costume and makeup on before he can even go out.

He runs to that department, practically falling through the door. A small chuckle causes him to look over at a woman with a bright pink afro and dark eyes who's setting out what's probably his costume.

"Are you nervous for your first day?" Her voice is nice and relaxes him slightly, causing him to blush and scratch the back of his neck.

"O-oh, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't late for anything today." He takes a deep breath before descending into mutters.

She laughs again and ushers him over, holding up clothes to his body. "Hey, hey, there's no need to worry, everyone here is chill. My name's Mina, by the way, I'm the head costume designer."

"Well, as long as you don't count Katsuki and Shouto, everyone here is chill." Izuku's eyes flash over to the new voice, and finds a short girl with a purple bob and vibrant makeup nursing a large travel mug. "Koyka, head of makeup."

Izuku nods, memorizing their names and positions as Mina hands him his costume to put on, and Koyka starts setting out her makeup supplies. He clutches the clothes and walks behind an opaque modern shoji screen toward the back of the room.

The girls discuss the look of his character as well as others until he finishes changing and steps out from behind the shoji screen. He's wearing what looks like plain street clothes, but they're slightly dirty and have a few strategic tears.

"Oh, awesome they fit!" Mina smiles wide, just pulling at them a little before pushing him over to Koyka.

He sits in the chair by her desk, trying to stay as still as possible.

"I'm just doing some very simple stuff, so you don't look washed out on camera, don't worry," She hums, going to work on his face easily.

"Okay." Izuku starts nodding, but Koyka catches his face, and he blushes, embarrassed. "Sorry, I'm just nervous."

"That's alright; everyone has their first day," she laughs.

She finishes up his makeup, and they send him to set with two sets of thumbs up, wishing him luck.

When he arrives at the set, his eyes are filled with stars, and his palms are sweaty while he excitedly mutters wandering around. He continues to do so until he bumps into a tall figure, making him stumble back.

Izuku instantly stutters out an apology patting off the person's chest until he looks up, words caught in his throat and hands stilling. Staring down at him is none other than Shouto Todoroki, the show's lead and one of the industry's biggest upcoming actors.

After standing there for another long second, he jumps back, stuttering out another apology, cheeks reddening. Before the other male can even utter a response, Izuku moves to a different part of the set where other actors are dwelling.

He finds a short brunette girl and a tall guy with dark blue, almost black hair. They don't notice him at first, caught up in a conversation of their own around the snack table. He mutters a small hello, and their attention turns to him.

The brunette smiles wide, clapping her hands. "Oh, hi! My name's Ochako, and this guy here is Tenya. You must be another actor."

He blushes slightly at her enthusiasm and laughs a little. "Yes, I am. My name's Izuku Midoriya."

The man known as Tenya puts his arm out straight and almost robotically toward Izuku. "Nice to meet you. I hope we can get along and be friends."

It takes Izuku a second to realize he's waiting for a handshake and promptly gives it to him. "Me too."

The trio spikes up more easy conversation, and the tension in Izuku's muscles relax. They go on talking and munching on snacks from the table until actors are called in for the first scene they're shooting.

The trio and all the other actors briskly make their way over to who called for them, and it was none other than Yagi Toshinori.

Izuku feels his breath catch and his eyes go wide as the moment plays out in slow motion for him. Yagi sits in the director's chair, directing the actors needed onto the actual set while giving them notes on how he wants the scene to read and flow.

Beside Izuku, Ochako nudges him with her elbow, and he zones back into reality hearing Yagi say his name. His idol was saying his name! He could die happy now.

Then he realizes why he's saying his name and nods, hopping onto the physical set joining Shouto, Ochako, and another up and coming actress he knows as Momo Yaoyorozu.

A crew member hands him a prop pistol before he's told to walk over to his mark. As he does so, everyone else does the same, and he takes a deep breath putting himself into the mindset of his character.

"Action!"

Without any further instruction, the scene is commencing. Izuku shakily points the pistol at Shouto, knees ready to buckle from forced anxiety.

Shouto takes a small step forward, arms raised, and speaks calmly, "Why are you doing this?"

The petite male only holds his hun higher at the question. It shakes more violently as if he was scared to hold it, and he grips it tighter in fear of dropping it. His expression clearly read he wasn't doing this of his own free will.

"I'm so sorry," Izuku looked close to tears. "You seem like a really nice guy."

Just as he's about to pull the trigger, Ochako quickly comes up behind him and hits him over the head with a small prop steel lead pipe Momo's character made with her quirk. She drops the pipe after completing the action and catches him before he hits the ground.

Izuku stays limp in her arms as Momo and Shouto rush over. Shouto takes him from her, lifting him easily in a firemen's carry, and the bell sounds, signaling the end of the scene.

Izuku opens his eyes, cheeks reddening immediately when he sees Shouto looking down at him blankly. As the shorter male is about to say something, Shouto sets him down and walks away, leaving Izuku with his mouth slightly agape, words dying on his tongue.

After another moment of staring where the taller man was before, he makes his way off the set and toward the snack table again, in need of water. His heart is still racing, but he's unsure of the cause. It could easily be the thrill of acting under his idol or having one of the most handsome men he's ever seen carry him.

The rest of the day, Izuku does his best to be professional in order to make a good first impression on his new coworkers and bosses. He thinks he does a pretty good job considering he was never told otherwise. He even gets Ochako and Tenya's number, the two of them saying they would like to hang out outside of work hours.

All in all, he thinks he had a successful first day, and he's excited for many more.
