Chapter 5

Dee walked down the hall towards the guards standing there. They were holding a small girl in their arms. Dee smiled. He was super excited to see her. After all, she was all part of his plan. He couldn't wait to contact Patton. He was not going to be happy.

Patton got a bad feeling that he wasn't going to be able to stay. He couldn't just sit here and let other people decided whether he could stay with them or not. He barely even knew them. Clam down. Remember that this is your best bet at finding Emily. He reminded himself this over and over again until his head hurt. He wanted to get the heck out of there and get Emily back. He thought that he knew where he was. But...he couldn't be sure. Maybe it would be best if he just turned and ran out the door right now.

"Pat..." a voice said pulling him from his thoughts. "Are you okay?"

"W-What?" Patton replied looking towards the voice that had said it. Emile stood there looking at him. "Oh, yeah sorry. I uh I'm just nervous, I guess..." Patton started but trailed off.

At that moment the conversations stopped and everyone started at Roman who was sitting in one of the seats at the table. His head was in his hands and Virgil and Logan were standing on his right and left. Logan's hands were clasped behind his back and his lips were pursed tightly. A looked of pure concentrations was on his face. He looked upset about something while also being very interested in it. Virgil, on the other hand, looked nervous. He looked almost as nervous as Patton felt. Roman looked up and stood whispering something into Virgil's ear then Logan's. Virgil relaxed immediately, while Logan tensed up even more. Logan whispered back and Roman spoke.

"It seems that we have another problem."

"What kind of problem?" Joan asked annoyed.

"We have a tie..." Virgil said quietly. Joan rolled their eyes.

"What are we going to do this time?" Joan asked. Yup for sure annoyed. It seemed like Patton's whole presence there was annoying to them. "Ask the whole world?" They rolled their eyes again. "Come on Roman. It is time to face facts. He has got to go!"

"Agreed," Logan replied adjusting his tie and glasses even though he had just done so a few minutes ago. He was nervous! Patton thought this as he watched Roman sit back down and place his head back in his hands.

"Listen..." Roman said with his head still in his hands. "The vote has come down to Alex. She will decide."

Patton looked to Alex. She was sitting at the table staring at Roman.

"Are you serious?" she said. "Me...I can't deal with that kind of pressure. You know that!"

"I'm sorry!" Roman shouted, more harshly than he meant to. "I'm sorry. Just please make the decision."

"Well," Alex started, "I see the pros and cons to both decisions. If he stays he could be useful but he could also be a huge liability." She stopped talking. Either that or Patton stopped listening. I know. I am a huge liability. Bigger than you could ever imagine. He thought. I should just leave.

"Roman is right though," Alex said looking towards Patton, a soft smile on her face. "And," she started a half-smile on her face because she, and Roman, had to refrain themselves from bursting into song. "for the first time in forever, Logan is wrong."

"FALSEHOOD!" Logan screamed before clearing his throat. Virgil walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder smiling at him. Logan shook his head and sighed saying, "I'm sorry please continue."

"Our cause is to help people...right?" Alex asked

Everyone nodded in agreement, even Logan.

"Then he stays."
