Chapter 2: Tests in the Metro
Maritus dragged me throughout the hospital. From my position, I could see bloodstains, overturned beds, and dead bodies, all maimed. Whatever they did to them or whatever they suffered, I didn't want to know what... The further she went, the less hope I had to get out. But suddenly, she stopped. I looked ahead, and a door was in front of us. "We're here at the doctor's office..." She said darkly before throwing me inside. I stood up and brushed myself off. I looked around and saw two people. One of them was an Inkling, the other and Octoling. They were both females. They looked at each other before walking toward me. Their nametags read "Solo-ink" and "Eight". "Stun her." The Octoling said, before I noticed Solo-ink's arm began changing. It went black, and transformed into a tentacle. I tried running for the door, but it was locked. I was stuck in here with both of them. The tentacle stabbed me in the chest, but it didn't hurt. Rather, it seemed to blend into me, and I could feel myself losing consciousness.
When I woke up, I was on the floor in an entirely different place. I saw a platform in front of me, and with lack of a better choice, I stepped onto it. The area glowed neon blue, before I heard Eight's voice. "Welcome to the Inkblood Metro. I'll be doing some tests on you. Like they did to me..." Her voice sounded venomous with that last sentence. The platform I was on rose up, and connected with another one above me. A large 8 ball dropped in front, and I was given a Charger. "Shoot the 8 ball into the goal. If it drops, you fail." Eight's voice sounded again. I charged up the gun and shot the 8 ball. It went a good distance before dropping down to another platform. I ran toward it and shot it again. The goal was just ahead, and this seemed simple.
However, I shot it a bit to the left, and it fell off the edge. "You let an 8 ball fall - test failed." Eight's voice sounded before I heard a clicking on my back. I heard something inflate before what was on my back exploded. I was propelled forward into the 8 ball's goal. I landed in the center before all the lights went out. I was back on the platform from before. I stood up, and the lights switched back on, but the place was different. Instead of the 8 ball track, there were cannons in front of me, and I was on a grey platform. "Avoid getting hit and don't fall off. If you get hit one, you fail." Eight's voice sounded again. Shortly after, the cannons started shooting ink at me, which I had to dodge. But I made a wrong move and got hit by one. "You got hit - test failed." I heard the clicking again, and the expected explosion happened straight after. I was propelled toward a wall, which I faceplanted on. I fell off before landing on the platform from before. Whatever the architecture of this place is, it isn't normal. The lights went dark again before I could stand up. When I did, a rectangular light was ahead. Out from it however, came Eight and Solo-ink. I tried to run backward, but I nearly fell into the abyss that was there. Solo-ink's arm turned black again, before plunging itself into me. As I fell unconscious, I felt them drag me to a different place...
When I came to, we were at another door. It read "Dr. Matt Miller". This must be his office. If there was any way I could get answers, it would be from him. They dragged me inside and into a chair. Shortly after, they left and closed the door behind them. I fully regained control of my body and sat up. A red swivel chair was facing away from me, with someone sitting in it. They turned around, hands in a plotting pose, looking serious. "Hello there." He said. I didn't know what was happening, but then he let out a grunt of pain. "Grah...!" He grabbed his forehead, closed his eyes, and looked down. Before I could check him, he looked up at me, with wide eyes and a smile.
"Look at you!" His smooth voice was somewhat shocked, though his wide eyes and soft smile remained. "I've never seen a beauty like you before. Ashley, was it?" I nodded. He clicked his tounge. "Such a pretty name. What brings you here?" Although I was terrified, my voice was laced with anger. "I'm here to know why you killed all those innocent people! And I'm here to know why you're not at all concerned-!" "Don't raise your tone at me. You don't want me to get angry. When I get angry..." He looked at me with a somewhat angered expression. "I do bad things." He hissed. I froze. His warm smile returned. "But if you behave, you'll live to see tomorrow." He tilted his head, staring at me. "You are so pretty." He looked at me with a crazed look. "But not... pretty... enough..."
