◊29. Finale
Author's POV
Arriving at that dimension, gave out a different aura compared to the other ones the two have visited so far in their journey. The place looked complicated, hard to understand, but simple, and easily comprehendible at the same time. The dimension was revolving in the light of the only moon that was shining brighter than the sun we see on our planet. But regardless of the intense light, it was dark in the sky, though, the land looked as if a vast spotlight was shining on it, so it was a perfect combination, I suppose.
Namjoon looked around and saw the millions of stars that also decorated the sky, forming various constellations that we humans have never seen in our entire lives. There were numerous unimaginably gigantic floating clocks just wandering around as if they were asteroids, just floating in space. And now that I mention space, the whole place actually looked as if it was space. It nearly had everything space would.
Far above in the sky Namjoon and Jin could see huge holographic screens that were the size of colossal buildings. On those screens, there were millions of, calculations, codes, and more. The dimension indeed lived up to its name. The science part of the dimension was evident as well. A whole forest seemed to be under something that looked like a snowglobe made with a hologram. You could see various types of animals, the simplest term that i can give to the creatures that looked as if they came out of someone's imagination.
One of the creatures had the body of a hippopotamus and horns of a dragon which seemed to be shining like expensive gems and the skin color was neon pink with rather subtle highlights of neon green. Anyways, enough with the talk of what the dimension looks like, it's time to get moving and finally find that box that has been messing with both Jin's and Namjoon's brains.
The pair went together to all the possible locations where the box could be located, but none of them had what the two wanted. Frustration was beginning to build upon Jin due to him not finding the box anywhere. Before he had hoped that he could truly find the box in this dimension because of its absence in the others, but now he doubts his thoughts.
The couple had just finished looking around the buildings of codes but they couldn't find it. Namjoon sighed and Jin cried in frustration. "Hyung! I...I don't think we can find it..." Pain and defeat laced Jin's words as he looked down on the clear ground that had code running underneath it. Namjoon looked at Jin and patted his back. "Come on, Jinnie, we have one last location to go to. I'm sure that we will find it there" Namjoon said with warmth and hope but Jin just shook his head. "No, Hyung, I don't think-"
Before Jin could say anything, Namjoon glared at him. "Now come with me or I'm stealing all the jars of candies you have in your house. Jin's eyes widened. "No not my candies!" "Then let's go already!" Immediately, Jin started to make his way to the location in panic and Namjoon just chuckled at his childish act.
The two reached what looked like, the sea. Namjoon and Jin stood on the sand while the cold hair blew their hair and made them shiver oh so slightly due to how cold it was. Namjoon raises one of his eyebrows and looked at Jin. "So you're telling me that we will have to go in the water and find it as if it's an enchanted and ancient marine treasure?" Jin shook his head while looking at the waves going back and forth. "No, the box is not made to be in the water, so we can easily suppose that it's somewhere here...but in more of an isolated area."
"So by isolated areas, do you mean like the sea caves or dense rocky areas?" "Yup! This means that you and I are going to go together to every single sea cave in here together so we don't get lost and stuff!" Jin said and quickly pulled Namjoon to the nearest cave they saw. There weren't many sea caves here, so it would probably be really easy for them to find it
And well, maybe I should take my words back because...after nearly two hours of searching near the caves, they found...nothing. Wow, that's so surprising! -_- But now they both completely lost all of their hope. They had crestfallen, disappointed looks on their faces as they got out of their last cave. They were both about turn their backs and head back to where they came from, but just then Namjoon pointed something out.
He squinted his eyes and made sure he was looking at the right thing, and just before Jin could walk away from there any further, Namjoon tapped on his back, making the younger look at him. "What?" "Look over there" Namjoon pointed at what looked like a small sea cave far from the side of the sea. Jin followed his finger and finally spotted it. Namjoon looked at Jin. "what if it's..." "No Hyung, it can't. There can't possibly be any dry land inside that cave, so the box can't be there." Jin sighed.
"But...it won't hurt trying. And I wanted to swim for a while anyway, so it won't be a total loss." Namjoon showed his best puppy eyes to Jin and in defeat, the ghost had to just comply with the elder's demands. Before the two could jump in the water, Jin looked at Namjoon. "Promise me, that you will be beside me, and not go in any other direction" Namjoon just smiled and nodded. "I promise I will stay by your side." And right after that, they dived in the water and swam by each other's side.
After a while of swimming, then finally reached inside the cave and saw...nothing. It was a just small curvy and rocky wall covering them, nothing much. They both rose up and sighed. Their bodies were still moving to keep them floating but they still slightly leaned on the wall. Jin looked at Joon and shook his head. "See, I told you it won't be here" "Well, sorry?" Namjoon said while being disappointed as well.
"It's fine." Jin sighed out as he closed his eyes and took a long breath to relax his body that has been panicking for the entire week now. Without realizing he slipped inside the water, though thanks to his reflexes his eyes snapped open and his body started moving to bring him up the water. Namjoon didn't mind the other's actions because he knew that Jin will come back up. As Jin was about to come up, his eyes caught something. He saw a faint light coming from somewhere down and he was sure that he saw it.
He rose back up with a shocked gasp, making Namjoon flinch a little. "Hyung!" Namjoon sighed. "what? Did you see a monster or something, you look more than horrified." "I am not horrified, I am shocked! Because I think I just saw something!" Namjoon frowned. "What did you see now?" "I am not sure what it was but I swear I saw it. I was like a small blue neon light coming out of something. I am not quite sure what it exactly was, though." "So are you saying that we should dive down and find it?" "Yeah, it's not like we will die if we don't get oxygen, you know the marine spell of being in the water as long as you want applies in every dimension right?"
"Oh...oh well then, let's go find it then" Namjoon shrugged. "Yeah, and we will be communicating through telepathy." Namjoon nodded and they slipped into the water and dived down deeper. Namjoon followed Jin as he moved in the direction he saw the light coming from before. As they were swimming deeper. Jin pointed at something. "Look, it's coming from there!" Jin said through telepathy and Namjoon saw that there was a bright neon blue light coming out of a huge black object. Though, he couldn't clearly see it though to his floating hair coming in front of his eyes.
Jin and Namjoon swam closer and closer to it, then finally reached the underwater ground. They now saw the big black ambiguous object which looked like one of those treasure boxes from the children's pirate stories. Jin was still confused but he then realized what it might be. His eyes widened and he looked at Namjoon who was looking back at him. "H-Hyung, I think we...found it!". Namjoon remained silent for a second, properly computing what the ghost just said. "OH MY GOD! FINALLY!" he squealed once it fully hit him.
"Now all I have to do is, open the box completely and memorize the spells in it. It is said that the spells in it are very short. So maybe right after I memorize it, we can go to the road of Lightness and Darkness, directly." Jin told and Namjoon nodded. Jin gulped and looked at the box. He went near it and hesitantly opened it. The blinding neon blue light intensified on his face, forcing him to squeeze his eyes shut but he just put his hands in the box and byhearted the spells quickly. His eyes slowly drifted open as the words were stored in his memory. Just like last time, his eyes completely turned blue, and his hair was uniformly straight and raised up.
After a few minutes of soaking in the spell, Jin's eyes turned back to normal. He took his hands out of the box and closed it properly. He looked at Namjoon and signalled them to go back up. They both swam back above the surface of the water to the cave and just cheered in victory. "Let's goooo! We finally found the box and the spell!" Namjoon yelled out loud with happiness and Jin did the same.
"Now we can finally go to the road and catch my freaking soul!" Jin sighed in relief. "So what are you waiting for? Read out the spell and let's go finish it for once and ever." Namjoon said encouragingly and Jin did so after nodding his head. He closed his eyes and stopped moving his body. He let the water either pull him down or make him keep floating. Namjoon just looked around and waited as Jin continued to read out the spell in his mind.
After a few minutes of silence, they were both pulled into the dark abyss that was moving oh so rapidly and sending them somewhere in a flash. Then without a warning, it threw them out on the floor which felt both warm and cold at the same time.
Namjoon groaned at the pain of falling down and Jin just slowly got up. Jin tried his best to understand what this place looked like but...it was truly indescribable. It was as if this place was made in that way so that no one could ever describe or define it. The first second you will see a beautiful pathway and the next second you will see a freaking dark valley in front of you. It was like this place kept changing its appearances to mess your mind and to keep you from ever being able to understand what it truly is.
The only thing that you will be able to see about this world is that there is one long pathway and that on the left side everything's dark and on the right side everything's light. That's the only thing you can describe.
Namjoon felt as if he was hallucinating due to how many things he was seeing and how the image kept changing as he blinked. He looked at Jin and made sure he was real by touching his back. "J-Jinnie, my head...I don't think I am seeing right..." Namjoon's eyes were dazed but still trying to be open. Jin held his hand and gave him a comforting smile. "It's fine, this place is just like that, just focus on me and not the surroundings, because they will keep changing to keep your brain messed up." Namjoon nodded hesitantly with slight nauseousness appearing in his body.
Jin suddenly snapped his fingers and immediately two stick-versioned fishing nets appeared in his hands. Namjoon raised a brow and looked at him in confusion. "What...is this for?" Jin looked at him. "For catching my soul obviously" A moment of silence lied between them before Namjoon chuckled humorlessly.
"So when you said catching your soul, you meant quite literally? WHAT THE FUCK!? Do you think you can catch such a thing with a stupid net, you idiot?!" Namjoon nagged with frustration and confusion.
Jin just sighed and shook his head. "Ugh, you dumb bitch, this is a net that's MADE for cathing souls. And I know this because a freaking angel gave it to me! So you know it's legit" A 'o' expression lied on the elder's face and he soon nodded at the realisation.
"Now, keep looking around for a blue silhouette that looks like me. Ignore all the images that you are seeing, only focus on finding the silhouette. And if you see something that you think is the soul but you are not sure, ask me. Also, when you are catching the soul, be VERY careful as it can easily run away for some unknown reason."
Namjoon nodded his head and took one of Jin's nets. He soon started hunting for the soul regardless of his headache that was taking over him slowly and the images that were forming in front of them.
A few minutes passed before Jin slowly got beside Namjoon and whispered in his ear. "I think, I found it" "where-" Jin shushed him quickly. "Be quiet! We don't want it to know that we're coming for it. Now look over there, do you see an object which looks like a rock but keeps changing its colour as we blink?" Jin pointed in the direction. Namjoon looked in the same direction and nodded. "Yeah, it's behind there, you can see a light blue figure if you really focus." Namjoon squinted his eyes and saw a light blue head moving around a little. So he frantically nodded his head again.
"Now, you go slowly from the right side, I will go from the left. I will count to 3 in telepathy and we will both try quickly catching it. Also, If it comes in your direction don't hesitate to put the net over it or just maybe even make the net touch it. The soul will easily get caught if the net touches it. "Got it!" Namjoon whispered and slowly followed Jin to the rock.
They were now slightly bending down and on the opposite side of the rock, where the soul couldn't notice them. Joon was on the right hand and Jin was on the left, just like planned.
Jin slowly started counting as he prepared his net. "1" Namjoon got into his catching position. "2" Jin held the wooden stick in a severely tight manner. "3" The two immediately snapped their bodies and nets behind the rock and tried catching the lingering soul.
They were shocked at how fast the silhouette was moving and zooming away from them, they both were sprinting behind it, desperately trying to catch it.
The soul first went in Joon's direction then teleported to Jin's and the same over and over again. Though, after a few minutes, it stayed still in the middle of the whole road. Its back was facing Jin, I mean, that's what it looked like. Jin didn't know that Namjoon was behind him just in case.
The ghost gulped as he looked at the blue figure. This was his one last chance to get the soul because there was a high possibility that the soul might teleport to some other unknown world.
So Jin took a long breath and in a flash tried stabbing the net in the soul's direction. But to his dismay...it disappeared. Jin thought he caught it, but he knew he didn't after he looked back down at his empty net. His mouth was parted and his eyes started to feel as if the burning liquid was about to brim out of them.
He looked to his right, to his left, and far ahead, but he didn't see his soul. His lips trembled and clear tears rolled down his swollen cheeks, he fell to the ground on his knees, defeat running through his entire body. It seemed like it would take years to find his soul again. He just wanted his soul back so that he could become an angel and...do good things. But maybe fate didn't want that. Maybe fate didn't want him to become one of those heroes...
Jin sobbed while looking down at the changing ground. "All of our e-effort...w-w-went out of the w-window. I-I just wanted to h-help the l-l-light side...But then...my soul..." Jin kept sobbing. "U-uh Jin?" Namjoon called out with a bit of struggling noise lacing behind. Jin was frustrated that his Hyung was still calling him regardless of his situation. "What is it, Hyung?! Can't you see that I am basically having a mental breakdown right now?!" Jin snapped while still being in the same position.
"I-I think...I am the one who's s-struggling...more" Namjoon stuttered while biting his lips. Jin snapped his head to look behind. "How-" And he got cut off by what he saw in front of him. His eyes widened. He saw Namjoon tightly holding his net with the soul in it, captured, and fighting to get out. "S-so can you please come and...g-get your s-soul," Namjoon said while trying his hardest to stay in a steady position and to not let off of the net.
Jin was still extremely shocked about what was happening but he nodded his head and quickly got up to sprint towards them. He stood in front of the net and hesitantly reached his hand to touch his soul. Right after he touched his soul and a huge force pushed its way inside Jin's body. It was as if somebody just harshly punched Jin in the abdomen. The force was so powerful that Jin fell down on the floor. This just confirmed that the soul was finally united with its owner.
Jin sighed and got up. He immediately hugged Namjoon with tears of happiness. "Thank you! Thank you soooo much!!!! You don't how much I am grateful for your help!" Jin said loudly with happiness and they parted. "It's fine! You are my love, how can I not help you!" Jin just chuckled while tears still rolled down his cheeks. Namjoon wiped his tears and held him by the shoulder. "Wanna go back and finally apply to being the angel you deserve to be?" Jin nodded his face and chuckled.
At the Ghost World
Jin and Namjoon entered the registration office and requested an appointment with the highest-ranked angel. It was a surprise to them that the head-angel already wanted to meet them. So here they were, sitting in front of the handsome looking angel who was talking to them about the recent meeting amongst the heads of heaven and the whole light side.
"You see, the heads of heaven have seen how both of you worked so hard. Unfortunately, none of us were allowed to help you, as you know. Because you have to work by yourself or with your soulmate to get it. But we are highly impressed at how you both finally found the soul together with loads of ups and downs.
So this is why I am here to give you a message that the heads of heaven have sent for you two." Namjoon and Jin were delighted at the fact that people in heaven were proud of them and they were ready to hear what they had to say. The angel opened up his hologramic screen and started reading out the words.
'Dear, Kim Seokjin and Kim Namjoon, congratulations on finally reaching the end of your journey and finally finding the soul. Everybody in heaven is highly proud of how willing you are to help us fight the dark side. We are happy to welcome you both to heaven as our new angels.
You will be given all the rights that angels have. But here's the thing, you two will be sent back to earth and from there you will be working. You see, the earth is the place where most of the evil ones are. We want you both to be disguised as humans and through both your human and angel form, fight the monsters that come to earth as humans as well. Make justice for all the hurt ones in your world. And make no chance for evil to be more powerful. There might be a time when the dark angels might try attacking you or the humans. Your job is to protect the pure minds of humans against them.
All the angels will be working from here as well, but you two are going to be one of the only angels that will be working up close with the humans, this is because you have earned it. When you are sent back to earth, you will be living a timeline of your lives where both of you are working adults of your previous field that you were studying in. Though of course, you can get other jobs that match your passion but please also try keeping the ones that will have them. You will be given a good starting level in your job, but you have to work hard to sustain that rank, just like any other human.
Seokjin, you will be given your life back again, but unfortunately, all the people who knew you on earth won't remember you anymore. This is so they don't remember that you died. Your family sadly, also does not exist as well and the same goes for you Namjoon, none of your family members will remember you, some of them have also died. But don't worry, you are allowed to interact with other humans just like you used to. You can create friends, bonds, and more. You are also allowed to start a family.
You have the permission to come back to the ghost world or heaven, at any time you want. Though, obviously, you will have responsibilities in the human world, so don't just completely ignore them. Again, your essence powers still apply as well, so please do follow the rules that we have set here and on earth.
Now a very important thing. PLEASE, don't tell anybody about your true identity. And also since you have suffered enough because of Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung, we will be giving you two spells which you can use to protect yourselves from them.
Now, you can come to the HQ of heaven right after hearing this message. Have a great day, both of you!'
The angel finished reading and smiled at them. Namjoon and Jin also had huge grins on their faces. They truly achieved their goals. Even though Namjoon never really planned on becoming an angel, he wasn't complaining. He was so honoured and grateful to have this opportunity to become an angel with the love of his life.
"So should we get going to the HQ?" Asked the head angel.
"Yes please!" The couple cheered while holding their hands.
