⊮10. Monsters of Night
Author's POV
Namjoon was shocked that it was his friend. He didn't know that he could be in this form as well. I guess ghosts are way cooler than we take them to be. Namjoon rubbed his eyes to make sure that his mind wasn't playing tricks on him...which it wasn't.
"Are you for real? Like, am I seeing the right thing right now?" "Well yeah, duh!" "But how-" "It's complicated to tell right now. So again, I will tell you later. For now, let's get you inside a warm place." Jin said after handing Namjoon a towel. "This is not possible, you are a ghost, then how the hell can come in this kind of form and be able to hold things," Namjoon said not listening to Jin. The other just sighed. "Some ghosts like me are able to do it."
Namjoon stared at him quietly, he couldn't see anything but darkness. "I can't see you though, it's just total darkness, like a shadow." "Because that's the only way I can be visible to you. I can only be seen like a shadow." "But in the movies, they are able to see ghosts, like all the body parts and stuff." "It's not really possible unless you are an angel in disguise." Namjoon gasped. "So there really are angels on this earth?! Are they the people who are extremely nice?!" "well, they don't interact with humans and stay on earth for an extremely short period of time with excellent disguise. So you can't really tell who's an angel and who's not." Jin said while walking under the umbrella with the elder to somewhere Namjoon was not aware of.
Namjoon was also completely wrapped in the warm towel which he didn't know how Jin got. "But why do they come, though?" Jin put his hand on his chin, which seemed like he was thinking. "Explaining it, is slightly difficult." "No worries, we have all the time in the world." "So I think that angels come to earth to heal or help. It's usually for the chosen people.
I am not exactly sure, though. It's just something I heard from fellow ghost friends." "How exactly do they help?" "For example, maybe going into the hospital bed of a dying person and letting them live due to the order of the Lord or, blessing a family that has been suffering. But again, it only happens to the chosen people and unfortunately, we aren't one of them." "Can you guys see angels?" Namjoon asked again.
"well depends on the angel, if they are messengers that are sent to us, then yeah. But if it is just a fellow angel who has no business with us, then no. "Also, why did you decide to show yourself now?" "Because I thought it was the right time to do so." "And how will I be able to see you fully and not your shadow?" Jin clicked his tongue but chuckled at the elder's curiosity. "The amount of questions you have! Well, you will have to die to do that and then become a ghost. There is one more way but that is just impossible."
Namjoon was slightly surprised. "Oh well...wow. Ok, just one last question." "What is it?" "Where the hell are you taking me." Jin was about to answer but Namjoon beat him to it. "Don't tell me that you are going to take me to an abandoned mansion and then take my soul and become even more powerful," Namjoon said being the dramatic bitch that he was. Jin laughed out loud. "You really watch too many movies and Kdramas, it's getting concerning. And no, I am not going to do that, but it's half true."
"Yah! I was joking! But don't tell me that instead of taking my soul you will take my life!" "Noooo! We are just going to an abandoned mansion nothing else." "Who does it belong to? "Didn't you say that it was the last question? Anyways, it belongs to me. I mean, my Grandma gave it to me as a gift before she died. And no, I was not from an extremely rich family, if you are thinking that."
"So is it going to be haunted?" "I mean I will ask the ghosts to leave since it's my house and because we will need a little bit of privacy." "Wow!! You can ask the ghosts to leave for 'privacy', huh," Namjoon smirked. "You really need also stop reading those dumb fanfics!" Namjoon laughed. "Whatever! How far is it?" "Very!" "So you are telling me we are going to be walking to a very far distance place" "yes!" "YOU BITCH!"
At the mansion
"Woah! This truly looks like a haunted mansion from the movies. It was actually worth coming here." Namjoon said. It was a mansion with dark exterior designs. It was moderately big for a mansion. It wasn't as big as the ones in the dramas, but still enough. It obviously gave out pretty dark vibes and the thunderstorm just added to it.
"Now, stay here. Close your eyes and don't look. I need to get this house prepared. If you look then it won't work." Jin said in a serious tone. "But what if Pennywise attacks me and eats my arm." Namjoon joked. Jin sighed at his behaviour. "Hyung, seriously! If you don't do it, then we will have no food in the house." Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "How could you possibly bring supplies in the house if I just close my eyes." "I will tell you after I do it. Now close your eyes and hold this umbrella. "But what if you get wet." "I am a ghost. Did you forget?" Namjoon rubbed the back of his neck at the mistake and nodded his head.
He soon closed his eyes tightly and put his hands over his eyes. "I will know if you are peeking, so don't even dare to look." "Fine!" A few seconds passed by and he heard Jin's voice again. "You can open your eyes!" Namjoon instantly removed his hand and opened his eyes. He was extremely surprised at what he saw. The house was now well lit from the inside and it looked like all the excess dust that was over it, was removed.
"How did this even happen?" Namjoon's mouth was wide open. Jin closed his mouth just in case an insect flew in. "I asked a few of my ghost friends to help bring in some food and light up the place. They found some human food when they came back from their old family houses. And don't worry, it's not expired or anything, you can eat it."
Namjoon was slightly displeased at the 'friends' part, but he remembered that Jin wasn't a lonely loser like him. "Why? Are you jealous that I have friends unlike you?" Jin said as if he read Namjoon's mind. "Stop rubbing salt over my wound!" Namjoon rolled his eyes. "Don't worry, you are my ONLY best friend and no one else can take that place. And you have me as well!" Namjoon smiled, feeling better at the words the younger said.
They both went into the house and Namjoon gasped. The inside of the house was even prettier than Namjoon imagined. It looked like a mini palace. "My grandma always loved to live in vintage and royal type places, so she had this house made like a small palace." "Your grandma had a really nice taste in home design," Namjoon said while still looking at the chandeliers and stuff. "She was actually a home interior designer. Now I will show you your room."
They went to one of the many rooms. "So, here are your clothes and there is the bathroom. Before you go back home, just change into the clothes you have now, so it doesn't look like you stayed at someone else's house." Jin said. "Thank you so much, bro." "No probs," Jin said and left the room.
Time passed by and Namjoon came downstairs with his wet bangs sticking on his forehead. He saw Jin cooking something and he knew it was for him. I mean obviously! Ghosts can't eat human food! "I didn't know you could cook," Namjoon said smiling. "Well yeah, I can. Better than you can obviously." Namjoon pouted. "I am not too bad." "Says the same guy who burned a pan." They both laughed.
Jin soon placed a bowl in front of him. "Wow, japchae! Looks nice!" "Yeah, it's healthy for you, so I made it." "You are such a mom, Jindo!" Jin rolled his eyes which could not be seen by Joon. "Whatever, dig in before it gets cold." Namjoon picked up the chopsticks and took a bite. His eyes widened. "OH MY GOD! THIS IS THE BEST JAPCHAE I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!" Namjoon shouted and Jin chuckled. "Bruh, seriously! This is better than humans can cook! How the hell does a ghost cook so well?! It feels as if I am eating in an expensive restaurant. " "Thanks," Jin said simply with a smile
Namjoon was in the bed now and Jin was beside him, sitting on his bed. "I never asked you, but where do you go when I fall asleep or just normally." "I go back to the ghost world, to either get some rest or just to chill for a while." "Oh, ghosts need rest as well?" "Well, yeah, but not as much as humans." "I see" "Though, I can immediately come back, so don't worry, if anything happens, I will be back in less than a second. So sleep peacefully like you always do. You will not have to stress about exams anymore."
"Yeah, you are right. Good night!" Namjoon said. "Good night!" Jin spoke back. Namjoon closed his eyes and tried to sleep. He fell to sleep instantly due to all the exhaustion he got today.
A few hours later
Namjoon was an extremely deep sleeper, but this woke him up. He heard loud growlings and loads of struggling sounds. It was as if someone was fighting with someone else. Namjoon opened his eyes and the first things he saw were two red glowing things moving. They looked like eyes. He saw another shadow fighting with the red-eyed creature.
Was that Jin and someone else? He heard Jin groan when the other punched him in the abdomen. But Jin soon kicked him in the jaw and pinned him to the wall. "Attack us, and I will actually kill you!" Jin said in the deepest voice that Namjoon ever heard from Jin. The other monster disappeared into thin air.
"Oh my God! What happened Jin?! Are you alright?!" Namjoon suddenly yelled, making Jin slightly shocked. "I am absolutely fine, Hyung-" "No you're not! I heard you groaning in pain! Tell me what I can do for you?" "Unfortunately, you can't do anything since you are a human!" Namjoon groaned in frustration. "Then tell me what that was." "It was a monster of the shadows. They are basically bad ghosts." "Why did it attack us though?" "It's because the Night of Shadows is approaching. They attack humans that they find nice. When they attack you, you can get sick both mentally and physically. It lasts for a couple of days, but those days are going to be a living hell.
Though, they won't attack you anymore. Because now they know that you're friends with me, so they can't. I had to tell that guy the hard way." "Thank you very much," Namjoon said with guilt. He really wanted to help Jin, but there was no way he could. "It's fine. But I can't believe I didn't remember that Night of Shadows was coming up soon."
"What is this, Night of The Shadows?" Namjoon asked. "You will only know when you become a ghost."
I just wanted to say an early Happy New Year to everyone! I hope that we all stay safe and healthy. And I also hope that I won't be a lonely loser in this upcoming year ;-; Anyways,
