PROLOGUE

Cars, bikes and motorbikes go up and down the street, some just passing by, some coming to the street and some departing from there.

A mild breeze blows, teasing the hair strands of the two girls holding their shopping bags in a hand as they feast on the muffin in their other hand, smiling and laughing about the recent outing they had had.

Three teenage boys enter a café whistling as their eyes stay trained on the retreating backs of the oblivious girls as they pass by them.

A girl reaches out and punches the shoulders of the overprotective brother across the table in that very café—where she had met her true love for the first time—who keeps insisting the boy who's sitting beside her to take good care of the girl or that he'd castrate him if at all he hurts her.

But after a moment of tense affirming, the brother and the boyfriend stand up and hug it out and after a silent communication through a nod between the two boys, the boy beside the girl goes on one knee taking out a rose and a small velvet box from within his coat as the girl gasps in euphoria.

The florist from the nearby shop who had sold the boy the rose stands smiling as she makes various other people's day happy too.

Children walk by the flower shop with their parents, indulging in all possible notorious actions they can perform to agitate their parents.

The parents gaze down at their kids and they're agitated, yes, but their love for their kids beats everything else as they grin at their kids' actions.

The naughty kids, however hold on to their parents firmly all the way, given it was dusk and they were afraid that if at all they left the safety of their parents' hold, they'd be taken away by a monster into all the monstrosities that they were scared of.

Monstrosities like how in a house across that very street, a rope dangles from the ceiling fan, its other end curled around the neck—in a noose—of the limp body hanging from it with the tongue protruding from the girl, her head slumped and her dress torn at places.

The entire house is eerily calm except for the momentary horns and flashes of headlights from the vehicles passing by whose lights try and fail to enter the house as they get prohibited by the heavy, closed curtains draped across the window.

A thud echoes around the dark walls, breaking the streak of silence in the house just as one of the shoes falls from one of the feet that are hovering from the ground.

A/N: That's all folks! This book will be continued later like, very late later. But for now, Happy Halloween.
