Behind Closed Doors [37]
Straight Outta Compton Movie Premiere Los Angeles August 10, 2015
We arrived at the Microsoft Theater for the premiere of Straight Outta Compton. Never thought this day would finally come.
Everyone worked so hard and we deserve to be here celebrating. I'm honored to be one of the producers.
(Aaliyah at the movie premiere, just image her at 46 years old 😑)
While we were taking pictures, an interviewer walked up to me and asked for a quick interview. I knew it was coming.
"Tell me where we are tonight Aaliyah and what it's like. I know it's been a long journey bringing this story to life."
"Most definitely. We're at the premiere of Straight Outta Compton here at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. I'm sorry I'm just so nervous," I said while smiling.
"Oh no it's okay. Well how are you feeling?"
"Nervous and excited. But overall, just blessed to be a part of this experience."
"And the movie is a wonderful tribute to Eazy-E."
"Yes," I replied.
"Tell me about how important that was."
"It's definitely important because he's not here. Here in spirit but not physically here.
So of course, we had to give him the proper credit. Give him credit for what he helped start because without him, none of us would be here."
"And do you think that N.W.A. will be more relevant now thanks to the movie?"
"Honestly, N.W.A. has always been relevant. They aren't going anywhere. Such a great foundation."
"Thank you so much Aaliyah and enjoy the movie."
After my interview, the interviewer approached Daijah.
"Hey Daijah. How are you feeling? You look beautiful."
"Thank you so much. And I feel wonderful. This day is finally here. I'm so excited for Straight Outta Compton. Everyone worked so hard and it's finally paying off."
"You look so much like your dad. Do you think that Jason did a great job portraying him?"
"I never met my dad so I don't know what kind of person he was but I've heard a lot of stories and watched YouTube videos. Jason is everything I imagined my dad to be. He definitely brought him back to life. And I want to give a quick shoutout to Carra for playing my mom. Everyone did their thing."
"Do you often get told that you look so much like your dad? Do people even know that you're Eazy-E's daughter?"
"Honestly, I don't name drop like some people. But I love my dad and I will always acknowledge him, even if I didn't get the chance to know him."
"Well thank you for your time. Enjoy the movie."
After I took a few pictures, I heard Erin and Henree yelling at each other. Great, this is just what we need. Can't take black folks nowhere.
"Why are you here again? You aint my sister! You're not in the Wright family now go away!" Erin yelled.
"Bitch I know who my dad is! I took a DNA test and he is my dad just as much as he is yours! Why do you think you're better than the rest of us? You aint special!" Henree yelled back.
"Whatever it is what it is. Your mom is a groupie that's still trying to milk my dad, twenty years later! You're not in this family, so stop lieing to yourself and to your so called fans. Let's be real, nobody knew who you were until you mysteriously found out that you're one of Eazy's kids. You can look like someone you're not related to," she shrugged.
"Okay whatever Erin. Think what you want to think, I don't care anymore. You don't have to claim me as your sister. But we still have the same dad now get over it."
Dre and Cube approached them and tried to break them up.
"Ladies is this how we behave at a movie premiere? Your dad wouldn't want that if he was here. Now what's the problem?" Cube asked.
"This bitch is still saying that I'm not in this family and that Eazy isn't my dad."
"You're not in my family! Stop lieing to yourself!"
"Erin calm down. Ree is your sister, so respect her. Act your age not your shoe size. Now let's enjoy the movie."
It's time to celebrate the Wright way.
When we walked in the theater, the first two rows of seats were reserved for us. We sat with our families and the movie finally began. I'm so nervous. I'm not ready to see Eric's death scene. This entire movie will bring back memories. Carra and Jason, make me and Eric proud.
After the final scene, the movie ended and we saw the credits.
