Chapter 54: War- Bordering Insanity

It was silent for a while.

A morbid silence that haunted the corpses and the alive. A quiet sense of foreboding and contemplation left those occupying the morgue shaken to their cores to their cores. Cold air was weaving around the bodies that lay on the floor of the carpeted room, and the living had pulled away

Izuku was silent, staring at the floor in a cold gaze, silently breathing. Eri looked back and forth between Dabi and Izuku, confusion and nervousness pasted on her small face. Dabi was watching Izuku intently, looking for any change in the boys behaviour.

No sound.

Just an eerie silence.

"Can't...Eri bring her back..?"

Dabi plucked up the courage to break the silence. The one hope he had held onto for hours. His silent prayer for the only chance he had to save Izuku's sanity.

Nothing.

Izuku didn't reply. He continued to stare aimlessly at the ground, unresponsive. Eri looked at Dabi, even more confused.

Dabi already knew. Maybe, he just didn't want to accept it yet. But, nevertheless, it wasn't going to be that simple. Eri can't bring back the dead. She can't bring people into life, only revert them back to nothingness. She could reverse time, not give it back. She was no God.

Izuku's eyes were dull and red, their usual brightness extinguished from his tired eyes. The pain screeching from within his body, emminating in the form of now dried tears and regrets.

Regrets that caused Toga's death.

"Izuku...Let's go..."

Izuku didn't reply again, so Dabi stood up, Eri joining him, and tugged on Izuku's arm, pulling him to his feet. Still holding onto his wrist, Dabi began to slowly lead the boy out of the freezing room. Izuku still made no reaction, nor any response. It was evident why.

It was like he said, he had lost the most important thing to him.

And his mind was breaking because of that.

Dabi was concerned for Izuku. He knew what death could do to people, he had seen it happen hundreds of times. Hell, he had first hand experience with unbridled fear and despair. But, Izuku was a slightly different case.

Namely, his quirk.

Izuku's quirk was capable of God-like feats. Geological events, space-manipulation, mutations. He was capable of flattening the earth if he chose.

What could that kind of power do if the one wielding it wanted the world gone?

Would Izuku destroy everything?

Given the situation, it was very likely.

Bakugo and Todoroki had talked for a while, discussing normal things in a futile attempt to take their minds off the gravity of their situation. It wasn't exactly easy, the constant screams and cries in the background of their mundane conversation was added proof of the world they were currently living in.

"Hey Bakugo."

Bakugo turned around to see a familiar red-haired boy standing just a few feet from the curtain. His small smile displayed a faint hope as he looked at Todoroki. "Hey, glad to see you aren't dead."

"Could say the same to you." Todoroki sat up, wincing slightly as he clutched at the bandages around his stomach. Kirishima sat on some boxes, facing opposite Bakugo.

"I'm guessing you haven't heard what the heroes are planning to do." Kirishima's faces fell as he spoke, catching onto the two's confused expressions.

"No? What are you talking about?"

Kirishima took a breath, before continuing. "It's about Izuku. The heroes were talking about what to do, especially now they know he has a child with him. Because we don't know if she had been kidnapped or stolen, they are assuming he took her for his own benefit."

"Meaning?"

"In order to protect Eri, we have been ordered to kill Izuku with brute force if necessary."

Kirishima watched as the two boys faces dropped. Todoroki laughed weakly, looking down onto his blanket which he clutched tightly. "I mean, I expected that but...to hear the heroes say that..."

"They are ordering us to kill a child, basically..." Bakugo really didn't know what to think. Obviously, he wanted to take down Izuku and mentioned many times about how he would kill him. But, to hear it as an order wasn't exactly something you wanted to hear.

He had to kill his childhood friend.

/////////////////////////

"Hey, Kacchan."

Bakugo looked at the boy, walking just behind him. The rain poured down on the two, with Bakugo holding an umbrella just above his head. Izuku stood in the rain, looking nervously at Bakugo. He had a solemn look on his freckled face with shadows overcasting his eyes. "What?"

"What do I do...?"

"Eh?"

Izuku looked away, staring down at a puddle that had accumulated from the rain. "The doctor said I had no quirk, right? So, what do I do?"

Bakugo raised an eyebrow, walking over to Izuku with an annoyed grunt. "Do what you want. Why are you asking me?"

"Well...you usually know everything..."

Bakugo sighed, moving the umbrella so it covered Izuku. "Well, who cares? Even if you got a quirk, it wouldn't be as good as mine. But, I guess that doesn't mean you can't help people..."

Izuku looked up, his eyes glistening slightly. "How?"

"Jeez. Well, do what you planned to do originally. No one is stopping you."

Bakugo grabbed Izuku's hand, dragging him down the pavement. "Come on, if we stay out here we'll catch a cold..." Bakugo grumbled with annoyance. Izuku chuckled a bit, still looking down at the ground.

"Why the heck are you laughing?"

Izuku smiled, walking alongside Bakugo with a giggle.

"Don't worry about it."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darkness overcame everything. The night sky, the city but, more importantly, Izuku's mind. Izuku sat in an office chair, head buried in his arms which he rested on the desk before him. Not enough strength remained in hin to lift his heavy head.
His arms felt weak, tired and shaky. His eyelids lay low above the cracks of his eyes, which shone, not of their previous gleam, but a cold, malicious glare.
Cold hatred was all he felt.
Dabi was sat on the sofa, his head in his hands in silence, really unsure of what to do. He couldn't let Izuku go off on his own, nor could he let the league go to ruin because of this. If their leader was unable to continue, what future would they have?
"Izuku...we need to talk."
"What...". His voice was dull, uninterested and bleak, unlike his previous sarcasm.
"You have to go help them."
"Why the hell should I?"
"Because you started this. You can't leave them with an unwinable war."
"What's that supposed to mean? You don't trust the rest of the league? Quite arrogant..."
"The only chance we may have is you. You quirk is what has gotten the league this far!"
"Sure, like the years I spent as a broker meant nothing. The only reason I helped the league was because of my quirk. Not the hours I spent collecting information or saving villians. No, it's all because of my bloody quirk."
"That's not what I meant."
"Then what did you mean?" Izuku stood aggressively, pacing from side to side. "That because I was quirkless meant I was powerless? No. Quite the opposite."
Izuku made his way to the doorway, looking away from Dabi in the process. Dabi grabbed Izuku's wrist, quickly pulling him back. He was glad he left Eri with Muscular, which wasn't a statement he thought he would ever say. "Where are you going?"
"Where do you think?"
Izuku turned, his body emitting an aura of danger. Dabi didn't left go, but let his body shake slightly. "I'm doing exactly what I planned to do, what you want me to do. I'm going to use this quirk, and destroy everyone that goes against me."
"What?! No! You can't do that!"
"Is that so?" Izuku walked closer to the man. Dabi instinctively tried to move back, but came back-to-back with the wall. Izuku stood a mere few inches away, head raised unusually high. His eyes were wide, gleaming red with an unusual hue.
"I'm going to do what I planned to. I'm going to be the new symbol of peace for everyone."
Dabi's eyes went wide as Izuku tilted his head slightly, a smile on his face.
"And I will kill everyone who disagrees."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Deep within the darkness, chained to the foundations of the building, a familiar face grinned widely. He knew no one was in the prison, nor where there any guards. They were either dead, or had fled.

With all the computing systems down, many of the villians had already left to wreck carnage. Mustard and Moonfish had already gone, going to meet up with any villians from the league. But, he waited. Waited for the correct signal.

He had it now.

They were still connected by All for One, as they both had the quirk. He had kept a few for his battle with All Might. Now, he had done it.

Izuku had almost lost his mind.

But, not completely, he wasn't at the point he needed for manipulation

All for One grinned as he pulled himself from his restraints, effortlessly falling to the ground.

It was time to find him again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inko and Hisashi collapsed onto Tokyo Harbour. Inko had kept her quirk going for a few hours to battle the strength of the waves. It wasn't an easy journey either. Without the help of the ferry's captain's quirk, they would have never made it. Essentially, he could increase the power output of a specific machine, in this case an engine so they could move faster.
The ferry had seen better days; after being subjected to that much strain it was a miracle it survived the journey. Hisashi looked over at his wife, who had stood, looking for a map. As Hisashi followed, walking past the building that blocked the dock his eyes widened as he looked at the city.
It had been engulfed in flames. The entirety of Tokyo had been damaged or destroyed. They had seen the city, or rather what was left, when they came by but...
It was on a much larger scale that they thought.
Inko looked across the dock, seeing a small tent and campfire in the distance. "There, we can go and ask them if they know anything."
Hisashi nodded, running to catch up to his already walking wife. Inko practically ran to the tent, hoping for any sign of where her son may be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bakugo, Kirishima, and Todoroki looked around, eyes wide with shock. A loud shout had rang out into the tent. It seemed to be a woman, shouting if anyone had seen her son.

"Should we go check it out?"

"I'll go, you stay." Kirishima stood, walking over to the curtain and left. Todoroki looked at Bakugo, who shrugged and went back to his thoughts. That was until Kirishima burst back in, eyes wide and shaking. Bakugo stood, walking over to the red-head.

"What?". It wasn't his usual grumble, but more of a confused, scared question. Kirishima pointed out the curtain. "That woman...looks exactly like him."

"Him?"

"Izuku."

Bakugo's eyes went wide as he ran out through the curtains quickly. As he turned, he saw a familiar colour of dull green hair. His eyes widened as he took tentative steps forward. "Inko...?"

Inko turned her head, almost collapsing as she saw the blonde. "Katsuki...?"

As Bakugo approached her, Inko's eyes began to fill with tears as she hugged him tightly. Bakugo hugged her back, burying his head in her shoulder.

A doctor approached the two, nervously. "Is...he your son?"

"No...he's a friend of my son."

Bakugo visibly flinched in Inko's arms. Inko pulled away, looking around the 'hospital' where many people gave her strange looks.

"We need to talk to you."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inko was very surprised when she saw the blonde. The last time she saw him was around half a year ago. He was much taller and muscular, and seemed calmer. He had bandages around his stomach and his arms, which were uncovered as to not cause uncomfort.
"So...Izuku..."
Bakugo nodded, turning to face the two. He had never seen Izuku's dad before, but he was the spitting image of him. The freckles and facial structure most notably. "What about him?"
"What's going on? Tell me everything."
Bakugo breathed heavily, looking down on the makeshift fire. "Well, he ran away and joined the League of Villians. I don't know why or the details but he became quite well known. He became an information broker, and eventually earned himself the nickname Genocider."
"After a few month of being missing, he attacked the USJ along with other high ranking villians. Then, the villian league kidnapped me and I came face to face with Izuku again."
"We learned he had gained his masters Quirk, which is stealing quirks and giving them to others. Or he could keep them. Then he...killed All Might."
"After that, he performed numerous raids and attacks as the head of the league after killing the original. Now, he has started a war between heroes and villians."
Bakugo looked at the two, who nodded slowly. "And...how is the war going?"
Bakugo bowed his head, shaking it. "Not good. We found out he may have a child hostage, and we have been told to kill him on sight."
Bakugo watched as the couples faces dropped. He understood. Hearing that people have been ordered to kill your son isn't exactly...nice to hear.
"Well, what can we do?"
Bakugo tilted his head slightly. "What do you mean?"
Inko clenched her fist, staring at Bakugo intensely. "How do we help you?"
"Look. I know you want to help, but this isn't really-"
"I'm going to stop Izuku!"
Bakugo looked at Inko in a slight surprise. He chuckled a bit, resting his head on the palm of his hand. "It isn't going to be easy."
Inko smiled, grabbing Hisashi's hand.
"I know."
"How lovely."
Bakugo froze. Inko and Hisashi did too. Their blood ran cold as Bakugo turned his head.
Stood behind him, head bowed was familiar green-haired boy. He was slumped over, but a red hue was pouring out of his eyes, rising upwards until it faded out. Inko's eyes began to water as she stood to look at him.
"Izuku...?"
Izuku didn't reply.
"Izuku...? It's me."
"Izuku....?"
In front of them a shriek rang out. A teenager, around 16 or so pointed at Izuku, shouting. "IT'S GENOCIDER!"
Izuku raised his arm, which shook slightly. In an instance, rocks began to shake violently, before they flew towards the girl, crushing her. Bakugo had no time to move nor react. Inko screamed as blood began pouring from the rocks onto the ground.
Floods of people came out of the tent, looking at Izuku with absolute fear. Izuku looked up at Bakugo, his sole focus of the blonde in front of him. Tsuyu, Tokoyami, Momo, Sero and Mineta had joined the crowd, eyes wide as they looked at Izuku.
Kirishima and Todoroki also stumbled out the tent. Eventually, there was a crowd of scared, shaking individuals. A faint murmur reverberated around the circle that surrounded Bakugo, Inko and Hisashi.
Izuku smiled slightly, breaking out into a faint laugh. It wasn't a loud laugh, but a deranged, sinister one that sent chills up all of their spines. Bakugo looked back at Inko and Hisashi, unsure of what to do.
One man screamed, pulling out a gun and shot at Izuku. But, the bullet stopped. Paused in midair like it had been froze in time. Izuku took the bullet from the air, throwing it back at the man.
"Don't try anything."
The crowd stood still, a faint insecurity floating around. Izuku looked around the crowd, before turning to the crowd of UA students. Izuku looked at them, analysing them carefully before pointing at Momo.
"Step forward."
Momo stood still, fear holding her still as she refused to move. Izuku sighed, before grinning. "For every second you remain there, I will break the bones of one person in this crowd."
At that, Momo stepped forward, though still shaking. Izuku looked back at Bakugo, hissing quietly, "Don't move."
Izuku began circling Momo, a faint clicking noise coming from his mouth. "You will answer me truthfully."
"R-right...". Momo did not want to risk it. She had an idea of what it was about.
"So, where were you this morning? As soon as the war started."
"Near Taito city."
"Right. Did you see water? A river maybe?"
"Y-yes. It was at the Sumida river."
"You know why I'm here?"
"Y-yes."
"Tell me."
"Because I killed your friend."
Izuku smiled strolling up to the girl. "That's right. You killed Toga."
Bakugo's eyes went wide as fear for Momo raced through his head. He hadn't seen Toga very much, but, when he was kidnapped  she proved very loyal to him. It was to the point where she would kill for him. Izuku seemed to be loyal to here too, just purely based of their interactions.
Izuku got just inches away from Momo, smiled and punched her in the jaw. Momo recoiled, falling to the ground with a gasp. Bakugo and Todoroki both began to move towards them, both firing their fire at him. Izuku smiled, and disappeared.
And Momo was struck with the fire.
There was screaming for a moment, but was quickly put out by some nearby water. She was bleeding badly, with many doctors running to her. Bakugo and Todoroki looked at each other, both shocked with a hint of guilt.
A whistle came from above.
Everyone looked up to see Izuku hovering in the air, smiling at everyone on the ground below. Behind him, a giant wall of fire burst into being.
"You took everything from me."
Izuku raised his hands. The ground below began to shake wildly as the all fell to their knees. Bakugo looked up, eyes wide as he stared at Izuku and what he now embodied.
Borderline insanity.
Izuku grinned widely once again, raising his arms in an almost dictatorial stance, or in a sense a warped prayer.
"Now I will take everything from you."
