Chapter 50: War- Thank you
Waves crashed against each other, like a raging tempest engulfing fish, boats and sea life alike. As the water glistened from the blinding sun from high above, the seas shifted through an unbreakable course, creating ripples as the reflections danced across the ever-increasing waves.
The ferry's captain took to the wheel of the ship, steering it through a course that weaved through gaps in the high waves. The few other passengers gripped the sides of the rolling ship, some running back and forth between the deck to keep balance in check.
Inko and Hisashi held onto each other, with Hisashi holding onto the ferry's edge. Both held desperately to keep their balance, sometimes losing their footing under the slippery deck.
Hisashi was knocked back from a sudden crash into the ferry, pushing him to the ground with Inko following soon after. Inko coughed as she ducked her head from an oncoming onslaught of water that poured onto the ships deck.
"I don't get it! It's not even night and the waves are this high!" Inko cried out, peeling herself of her husband but sticking close to the ground while gripping the edge.
"It may be one of Izuku's plans! One of his men may have a quirk that can change the tide or wind!"
"But why?!"
"To keep the American military out and stop people leaving!"
"What do we do?!"
"I don't know!"
Inko clenched her eyes shut, panicked thoughts racing through her mind. She knew it would be near impossible to get into Japan due to the war, but a torrential storm?
She couldn't do this.
She was going to die.
///////////////////////
"Izuku? What happened?!"
Inko ran to her son, who was covered in bruises and dirt. His uniform was slightly torn and dusty, but he walked in with the beaming smile he always had plastered on his face.
"I'm okay! Just an incident with some of the bullies in the park. They were attacking this elementary school kid, so I tried to stop them."
"Who? Do you know them?"
"Yeah, they are from my class. Don't worry, it was a one time thing!"
Inko frowned, inspecting Izukus wounds with a slight upset. Inko took her sons hand, leading him to the sofa, where she sat him down. Then, she went to the cupboard in the bathroom, taking some plasters, cotton balls and hydrogen peroxide and walked back to her son.
Izuku raised an eyebrow as Inko approached him, laughing slightly. "I don't need to be disinfected."
Inko chuckled, looking over his body. "Well, you have quite a few scrapes and cuts. Considering how dirty you are, I'm not taking any chances."
Inko poured a small amount of disinfectant onto the cotton ball, placing it onto Izuku's face as he recoiled slightly with a hiss. Inko frowned. "Izuku, this wont take long, okay?"
Izuku sighed, wincing sligtly as the ball was placed on his cheek again. "Why did you involve yourself in the fight? You know that...you aren't fit for that kind of fight."
Inko saw Izuku tense, sending shivers of sympathy through her system. "Well...I couldn't just do nothing. I had to help him, because no-one else was."
"Even so, I don't want you getting hurt."
"I know. But, if I don't help them, then they will get hurt."
Inko sighed, placing the last plaster on his face and patting his head. Chuckling slightly, she said "Sometimes I really don't know what I would do without you."
Izuku smiled brightly, picking up the bottle and cotton balls and headed to the bathroom.
"Well, get used to it! When I'm a hero, you'll have to do this a lot more!"
"Excuse me, you shouldn't be looking forward to getting hurt more!"
Izuku laughed, closing the cabinet and looked back at Inko.
"Hey mum?"
"Yes?"
"Thanks."
/////////////////////////////
Inko's eyes shot open as she stood again. Hisashi looked ar her, calling for her to get back down.
Inko stood at the front of the boat, her husband inching towards her. Rain splattered on her face as a large wave arose in front of her.
Raising her hands above her head, she harnessed her quirk, focusing her thoughts onto a singular point. She clenched her eyes shut as she pulled the energy towards her.
There was silence for a second. No rain, no waves, no noise. Inko opened her eyes, seeing no waves nor rain.
She looked up, eyes widening as she saw the giant pool of water that she had attracted to herself. It lay atop her outstretched palms, though weightless, shifting slightly as the water squirmed with Inko's quirk desperately trying to hold it together.
Suddenly, a loud noise erupted from above her as the giant ball of water erupted into steam. Inko turned to see her husband, wiping a liquid flame from his mouth. The condensation of the water rose, forming a giant cloud in the sky.
Inko nodded to her husband, which nodded back. Inko gave a thumbs up to the ships captain, who seemed utterly exhausted. He nodded back, ringing a bell signifying to the ferry's passengers that they were continuing.
Inko grasped her husband's hand, which held it tightly in return.
They were going to find their son, no matter what.

Toga giggled as she practically danced around the road, showing off to Jirou her new body. She usually didn't enjoy transforming into boys, but the look on Jirous face was more than worth it.
She looked utterly horrified, awestruck like she didn't know what to do. Right before her stood a Kaminari look alike, but it was also someone she had to stop, kill if necessary. Her hands shook as Toga giggled. Her voice was slightly disturbing. It sounded similar to Kaminaris voice, yet had a hint of her own girlish tone.
"What....what are you...?"
"Hmmmmm? Oh, me? I'm just enjoying your expression. Wow, you must really like Pikachu. However..."
Toga bounded forward, coming face to face with Jirou. Her eyes gleaned with a sadistic desire, edging on Jirous unease. Toga tilted her head, her yellow hair falling slightly, warping the black bolt on top of her head.
"As a hero, I thought you would try and protect the people before following your own desires."
Toga gestured to a small crowd next to them. Jirou watched as children shivered, parent holding them close. Jirou gritted her teeth, attempting to run to them. Toga grabbed her arm, pulling her so they had to make eye contact.
"Nuh uh uh. You can't change your mind now I pointed out your flaws!" Toga closed the gap between their faces, causing Jirous eyes to go wide. "What kind of hero does that? If you only found me for your own selfish desires..."
Toga grabbed Jirous shirt, her expression falling into an stern expression.
"Then you are no better than me."
Jirou pulled away in a panic, moving her earphone jack into a kind of battle stance. Toga sighed, reaching into her back pocket. "That's why I hate you hero folk. You think you are sooooo much better than us, when really you are no different."
Toga smiled, pulling out a knife and threw it at Jirou, who blocked it with her quirk. She winced slightly as the blade caught onto a bit of the exposed skin. Jirou pulled out speaker-like attachments, placing them on her arm, and attached her earphone jack's to. She focused her quirk, them released the sound of her heartbeat. It was quicker than usual, for many reasons.
Toga winced, gritting her teeth, but smiled. "DON'T YOU SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING?!"
Jirou turned to the crowd, who had all fallen to the ground screaming, immobile. Jirou released her quirks from the amplifiers, just staring at the crowd in regret. Toga smiled, taking the chance to deliver a punch straight to the neck.
Jirou recoiled, collapsing to the floor coughing and breathing heavily. She grabbed the throat, holding it tightly as pain shot through her body. Toga grabbed her hair, lifting it so Jirou could see her.
"Well, that was kind of boring...". Toga brought a knife up to Jirous head, causing Jirou to hyper ventilate. "I was expecting something more, with you hating me and everything. Well, not matter, alls well that ends well. Sorry about this."
Toga lifted to blade, preparing to strike the girl in the head. Jirou, disoriented, closed her eyes, the thought of using her quirk not occurring to her. Toga smiled before a sharp pain echoed through her body as she was struck in the head.
Toga collapsed to the ground, gripping her bleeding head in a hiss. Her vision was blurry, so when she looked up, she was unsure of who hit her.
There were blobs of black, that took the form of a ponytail, with a tall figure bearing it. As her vision cleared, she was able to see the figure run to Jirou, helping her up. Eventually, the figure came back over to her. It was a girl with a large ponytail. A metal pole appeared in her hand, which she held over Toga.
"You...you're with Izuku"
Toga winced, propping herself up to look the girl in the eye. She looked familiar, from the UA files, but she couldn't remember her name due to her possible concussion.
"Yeah, no shit sherlock."
She breathed sharply, raising the pole high above her head, and swung it down, which Toga narrowly avoided.
Toga stood, shaky and disorientated, pulling out two knives and faced the girl. "And who the hell are you?"
"Momo, and you tried to kill my classmate"
Toga nodded, taking a stance to brace her shaky body.
"Yeah, that's kind of my job. So, what?"
Momo looked at the crowd, who stood cowering in fear, unable to move back due to the burning blaze behind them. "Jirou, can you move?"
"Yeah, thanks."
Jirou straightened her back, looking at the crowd along with Momo. "Jirou, while I distract her, take the crowd out of the city." Jirou looked at Momo with an upset look.
"Momo, this is my fight. I'll deal with it."
"You are in no condition to fight. I will take care of this."
"You know, you shouldn't hold battle strategies in front of your enemy. Just putting it out there."
Momo gritted her teeth, running towards Toga.
"Go!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kaminari looked down at the body below him. Her face cried out despair and sorrow.
He had seen the broadcast.
He had heard what Izuku said.
What he said about him and Uraraka.
There he was, a murderer of an innocent classmate, and an instigator for a war. And for what? To get revenge on Uraraka? To show up Izuku?
No.
He did it for himself.
Kaminari stood, looking at Uraraka's broken body with a wave of guilt showering over him. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry." He whispered slightly. "I swear, I will kill him."
Kaminari left the building, sweeping off the blood on his body. He was going to find Izuku.
He was going to kill Izuku.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eri cowered under the desk, gripping her head as roars of explosions and flames surrounded her. Izuku had left her alone, silent in the world consumed by destruction.
She breathed heavily, flashbacks racing though her head as she was reminded of the scorching pain that would flow through her body everytime she would go into the lab. The horn on her head began to grow, longer and longer, bigger and bigger.
She shook slightly, unable to scream for Izuku to come help her.
She was scared.
Terrified.
Where did Izuku go?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Toga effortlessly jumped side to side, dodging Momo's swings and small explosions erupting from little Russian dolls. Jirou had ran with the crowd, leading them through waves of fire and debris. Toga didn't stop them, it wasn't like she wanted to harm the civilians at that moment. She had another she was targeting.
Toga couldn't read Momo's expression anymore. She was used to reading someone, and using that for her disguises. Yet, she couldn't tell what she was thinking, what she was feeling. Her eyes were narrowed, her lips formed a stern expression, her eyebrows were creased. It was like as she was thinking about was taking Toga down.
Toga smiled, lifting her arm to block the metal pole, which hurt more than she expected. "Tell me, why are you so upset?"
Momo jumped back, avoiding Toga's knife. She also couldn't read Toga's expression, partly due to her warping of Kaminari's happy-go-lucky expression. "Is that even a question?! You're killing people."
"No, I'm saving people."
"What are you talking about?! Look around!"
Toga grabbed Momo's wrists, twisting them so the pole would fall out of her hand. "You look around, miss hero. You really think all villians became villians because they wanted to? Maybe I did, but the majority of our group turned to villainy because your kind turned them away! Even Izuku! His whole reason for this war is to show you how much of a stuck-up bitch you are!"
"And you're using that to justify murder!"
"If that's what it takes for us to be happy..." Toga delivered a hard headbutt to Momo, sending her recoiling backwards.
"Then so be it."
Toga jumped at Momo, who stumbled backwards, falling hard on the ground. Toga pinned her down, a knife just grazing her cheek as she giggled above her.
She held a knife above her chest, raising it to plunge it down...
Until a rope like material swung around her arm, catching it just before she could stab her.
"Can people stop interrupting me already?!"
Momo opened her eyes to see Jirou, using her earphone jacks to hold Toga's arm in place. Toga smiled, drawing a knife with her other hand and cut herself free in one swift move.
Jirou cried out, retracting her quirk so it hung an inch or two from her ear. Momo regained her composure, stood and ran to Jirou. Ripping her shirt slightly, she used the cloth to bandage her wound, while using the other hand to fend of Toga. "What are you doing?!"
"Umm, saving your ass apparently. Come on, we have to beat this bitch."
Momo sighed, facing back to Toga, forcefully pushing her away. "Fine. Please find a way to restrain her while I knock her out."
"Okay."
Jirou circled Toga, using her remaining earphone jack to distract Toga. Momo, meanwhile, looked for a high ground. She knew she couldn't stop Toga but simply restraining her, as one of Izuku's minions would save her and she would continue to kill others. It sucked, but it was her job.
Jirou ducked and dived over debris as Toga chased her happily, forgetting about Momo for a while as she sought out her prey. Jirous heart was racing, knowing that any wrong move and she would be dead.
Jirou looked at Momo, eyes widening in shock and horror. In her hands, Momo held a sniper rifle, which she had made with her quirk. She was serious about this. She was going to stop Toga.
Jirou stopped, turning to face Toga.
"Hey! You love the league right?!"
Toga stopped, tilting her head in confusion. She gripped her knife tightly as she took steps closer and closer to Jirou. "Of course I do. I love them more than anyone."
"And you would die for them?"
Toga stopped, looking around for Momo whom had disappeared. "Well, yeah?"
"That's what I thought."
Jirou raised her hand, earning a confused look from Toga. "NOW!". A sharp ringing noise rang out as Momo and Jirou gripped their ears momentarily after Momo had pulled the trigger. Momo cried out in pain as her hearing went quieter, but rang endlessly. Nevertheless, she jumped from her vantage point and ran up to Jirou.
"Did we get her?!"
Jirou looked scared more than anything. She was pale, her eyes wide. Momo looked at the direction of Toga.
Her quirk had deactivated as she laid in a pool of her own blood. The bullet had stuck her in one of her arteries, meaning she was bleeding out fast. Toga gasped and spluttered as she gripped the bullet wound. It was agonising, the feeling of all warmth draining from her body and rolling onto the concrete floor. The bullet came quick, almost too quick as it drained her life from her paralyzed body. Momo looked away, shoulder raised to her head.
"I'm sorry. You left us no choice."
Jirou also looked away, unable to loom Toga in the eye. Toga's eyes began to water, tears spilling from her eyes. Memories flashed through her mind, like a glass of water that had spilled over the counter.
//////////////////////////////
"Izukuuuu? What are you doing?"
Izuku looked up from his desk, seeing Toga in the doorway. She bounded up to him hugging him with a beaming smile. "You still planning?"
"Yeah, I'm going to go to Kaminari in a little while when everything is prepared."
"Hey, why are you doing it now anyway?"
"Well, we have run out of time. I can't have Bakugo be efficient with One for All and I can't have Kaminari become mentally stable again."
"I see...Hey Izuku?"
"Hmm?"
"What about after the war? What then?"
Izuku leaned back in his chair, dropping his pencil with a heafty sigh. "Well, I guess everyone can live freely again, with no boundaries and fake heroes. We can be normal teenagers again."
"Do you really want to go from this to that?"
Izuku chuckled. "Yes and no. Don't get me wrong, I love being here in the league. But I never really got to be a teenager, so I have no idea what it's like. It would be nice to know."
"Tell you what, after the war and heroes have been dealt with, how about we go and do something fun for a change?"
"Okay, like what?"
"Like, all of us go to an amusement park, or a park...or a place with amusement!"
"That would be kind of weird though. From being top tier villians to friends going to carnivals."
"But it could be fun! Oh, and we could take Eri too!"
"Okay, okay. We'll see."
"HELL YEAH!"
Izuku chuckled, but paused, his face going solemn. Toga tilted her head slightly. "What's up?"
"Can you promise me something?"
"Huh? What?"
"Be careful. In the war I mean."
"Okay? Of course I will. It wouldn't really be fair for me to talk about this kind of thing if not."
Izuku chuckled. "Yeah, I know. Thanks."
Toga smiled back.
"You're welcome."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Toga smiled weakly, looking at her bloodied hand in silence. One thought pervaded her mind as her consciousness began to slip. A singular thought remained in her mind as all her worries began to slip under the shadows of her eyelids. She could only whisper a singular sentence.
"Thank you, Izuku."
