Twenty Three
Haneul's POV:
A new fresh morning had begun. I woke up early after getting enough sleep from the tiredness of the night before. I brushed my hair and my teeth, exiting the room to have breakfast. I spotted Yeonjun as soon as I stepped out of the bedroom. His blue hair was messy but perfectly natural. His clear skin was glowing under the subtle light that came through the windows. His still sleepy eyes that landed on me, looked warm and gentle. However, his face was filled with a hint of tiredness, and I could tell the wheels in his brain were just starting and he wasn't fully awake. He was wearing a white t-shirt decorated with that usual silver chain that hung from his neck. Grey sweatpants, one hand in his pocket and the other placed over the doorknob from one of the bedrooms.
I wanted to greet him, but no words came out of my mouth. I wasn't used to seeing him like that, he was obviously and I would be lying if I said he didn't look way too attractive for someone who had just woken up.
The corners of his mouth curled up in a subtle, amused smirk before he lifted his hand and placed his index finger on his pink lips, gesturing for me to not make any sounds. I frowned in confusion, tilting my head asking for an explanation. He just stepped forward and grabbed my wrist, pulling me with him and opening the door so I could see the reason of his amusement.
I peeked my head inside the room and that's when I saw Taehyun and Hueningkai sleeping peacefully. There was another bed in the room, but they were on the same one spooning each other. I covered my mouth with my palm and tried my best to hold back my giggles. I stepped back and looked at Yeonjun, who was chuckling as well, scrunching his nose and with his eyes turning into small crescents. He closed the door quietly, and we made our way to the kitchen.
"Good morning!"
The cheerful voice of Kai's mother greeted us. She was quick to place fresh food for us on the table, just like she expected us to appear in that precise moment.
"Good morning, thank you" I smiled, sitting in front of the table, Yeonjun doing the same right beside me.
"You're welcome, I hope you enjoy" She smiled back, wiping her hands with a clean towel "You guys woke up really early today. The rest of the boys are still asleep, do you have any plans for today?"
I chewed on my food and looked at Yeonjun, not really knowing what to say. Yeonjun nodded, cleaning his mouth with a napkin.
"I think we'll go downtown so she can see around"
I frowned in confusion. I didn't know we would go somewhere else that wasn't up in the mountain. Kai's mom nodded.
"Will you wait for the boys?"
Yeonjun kept silent for a second, then shook his head.
"I think I'll go with her and they can reach us later. They went to bed really late so I bet they won't wake up for a while" He said, taking a sip from his juice.
I felt confused. Yeonjun had made some plans without me being aware of them.
"Then I'll let them know as soon as they wake up" The woman said, waving to us and walking out of the kitchen.
"What was that?" I asked, my brows knitted together. He just smiled, still eating.
"Just trust me. You probably think we'll go far but actually downtown is really near, we can even go walking. There are some things we can do"
"Like what?"
He smirked.
"How does ice skating sound?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haneul was wandering outside the house. The cold breeze touching her skin as she kept her hands inside the pockets of her thick coat to keep them warm. She was grateful for that scarf her mom had made for her before she went there, or she would have been freezing to death.
The sound of the door cracking open pulled her back from her daze. She turned her head and saw Yeonjun approach dressed in all black. A black turtleneck sweater, a long, black leather coat and a pair of blue jeans with boots. His hands were covered with a pair of black fingerless gloves which she noticed when he lifted one of his hands to brush his bangs away from his forehead.
Haneul stared at him from head to toe, with a subtle smile forming on her lips unconsciously. She didn't know what was about him that was making him look so attractive recently, but something was for sure, and that was that she couldn't stop admiring him although she was oblivious of how much her glances lasted over the blue haired boy.
Yeonjun stood right in front of her, placing his hands in his pockets. The corners of his mouth curled up in a gentle smile as soon as they locked eyes. Haneul's mesmerized expression didn't go unnoticed by him, which made his confidence raise immediately. He would never say anything about it, but he was aware of how her brown chocolate eyes stuck in him just as if there wasn't anything else around them. And of course, the fact that he was feeling the atmosphere turning into something more sparkling made his heart shake.
Why was she scanning all his features so suddenly? Not even her knew the answer. There was something about him that she hadn't noticed before. She found the way his cheekbones popped up when he smirked incredibly alluring. His clear skin that looked so velvetish. How would it feel if she grazed her fingers on his cheek? Why was she even wondering such a thing?
"Ready?" He finally asked. Haneul blinked a few times as she snapped back to reality. She mentally slapped herself, terrified by her own thoughts. With a nod, she smiled and started walking beside him.
"Where do I go?" She asked, following him. She was a bit confused, that was the first time she visited the top of the mountains and now that they had to walk, she was feeling incredibly dumb for not having any clue of how they'd go downtown.
Yeonjun stopped in his tracks and let her walk ahead, with him behind her close enough to slightly touch her back to guide her way. Haneul's eyes widened at the touch, nervousness storming all over her like it was the very first time he had touched her. She pressed her eyes shut for a second, until she heard him speak.
"Do you see where these people are walking?" He asked behind her ear. His hot breath touching her skin and sending uncalled shivers down her spine. She clumsily nodded, still looking ahead "That's where we need to go. Just follow the path and we will be downtown in a couple of minutes"
Yeonjun moved aside to stand again next to Haneul. He grabbed her hand and helped her to jump a few rocks until they were both walking together again.
She was feeling nervous, so nervous that she knew she had to speak or it would be too obvious.
"So..." She muttered. He turned his head and gave all of his attention to her. "I'm gonna need you guys to sing again for me" She said, giving him a quick glance and a smile. He scoffed in response.
"We knew this would happen" He chuckled "That's why we never tell anyone"
Haneul frowned, looking at him genuinely confused. How could they hide such a wonderful talent?
"Why?" She asked "What's wrong with people listening to something so beautiful?"
Yeonjun looked down to his feet as he walked. His mouth was slightly agape and his breath made small fogs in the air.
"I think people would want us to do more about it. We love doing it, but just as a hobby" He explained, looking up at the road again. His brows slightly knitted together, making his stare look more intense as the rays of sun reflected on his dark irises.
"I mean... You guys could be famous. You're talented enough to be idols" She smiled "The five of you even got the looks" She teased, lifting her hand and pushing him gently, making him chuckle.
"Idols?" He asked with amusement, a brow raised. "Yeah I don't think so. I can't imagine such a life" He shrugged.
"How come? I don't see what's the bad part... I mean, the privacy and stuff... But you guys would have fame, money, girls..."
"Girls?" He asked, pressing his lips together, trying not to chuckle.
Haneul shrugged.
"Isn't that what every guy wants? Money and all the girls you can get?"
Yeonjun let out a breathy chuckle.
"I don't think every guy wants such a thing" He responded "Why would I need many girls? I'm a man of one woman"
A tiny smirk formed on her lips at his response. She lifted an eyebrow and looked at him, he just smiled in return.
"I thought you've never been in love"
Yeonjun took a deep breath through his nose, and exhaled it.
"I haven't. But when that day comes, I will belong to her entirely"
Yeonjun responded to Haneul knowing that he wasn't being completely honest. He didn't feel guilty, though, cause in that moment he refused to accept the truth. He had instincts that he usually followed unconsciously, impulses, o he even did some things he couldn't stop himself from doing. But admiting such a big thing was different, and he still had that conflict within him that wasn't letting him see the light. On the other hand, Haneul felt some kind of way when Yeonjun said such a thing. She couldn't help but think that whoever Yeonjun fell in love with, would be the luckiest person on earth. She knew what love meant, and how it felt, and if it was her, she wouldn't want to share him with anyone.
The sound of loud voices and children's laughter filled their ears. The ice rink was right in front of them, and although it was quite early, there was a few people enjoying time together.
"Are you sure we need to do this?" Haneul asked, watching the people skating all over the place.
"Come on, will you chicken out?" Yeonjun asked teasingly. She turned her head and glared at him.
"I don't know how to skate. I've never done this before" She pouted. Yeonjun chuckled, patting on her head.
"It's easy, I'll help you"
Haneul sighed. Yeonjun led the way to the staff who gave them the ice skates. They took a seat to take off their shoes and put them on, but since Haneul felt a bit horrified by the big blades, she kept struggling to put them on. Yeonjun looked at her with amusement, clicking his tongue and grabbing her leg to help her. He quickly put the skates on her tiny feet and tied the laces. Haneul's cheeks felt hot at the gesture, and immediately got flustered.
"I'm not sure about this..." She muttered, watching Yeonjun enter the rink. He rolled his eyes and grabed her hands, pulling her inside.
"Have you ever skated before? Not on ice, I mean roller skates"
"Y-yes but that was when I was li-ittle" She stuttered, feeling her body stumble. Thankfully, Yeonjun's grip on her hands was strong enough to keep her balanced.
"It's the same, just relax and take it easy" He said, chuckling at the way she clung to his arms.
"Don't you dare" She muttered. Yeonjun laughed, slowly pulling back "Don't you dare to release me Choi Yeonjun" She said, raising her voice with her eyes widening in terror. Her body stiff and her legs open.
Yeonjun finally released her and she instantly stopped moving. She froze right on the spot with her arms extended.
"Keep going" He said. She looked up at him and her eyes sent daggers. He couldn't help but laugh loudly.
"Just wait until I reach you" She breathed "I'm going to push you so hard... I hope you fall on your butt" She kept mouthing under her breath, making Yeonjun laugh more. "I fucking hate you"
"Just move your legs, silly" He said, skating like someone that came from the swan lake. He was skating backwards, gesturing for her to get closer "I know you want to kick my ass, why don't you come here then?" He teased.
Haneul groaned. She took a deep breath and finally decided to move her legs slowly. She was finally sliding... Well, kind of.
"You horrible man" She whispered "Oh my god, I'm going to fall" She whined, staggering.
"See? You're moving. Good job!" He cheered, lifting his fists up in the air "Aww, you look like a newborn deer"
"That's it. I'm gonna kick that ass, pretty boy"
She moved her legs smootly this time, gaining a bit of speed. Yeonjun chuckled and stopped moving, giving her a chance to reach him.
"Oh god I c-can't believe I'm mo-o-oving" She said, waving her arms as she tried to be steady.
Yeonjun extended his hands for her.
"Need some help?" He said, smiling gently.
She rolled her eyes, and laughed but held his both hands.
Yeonjun pulled her hard towards him as he laughed, resulting on them almost colliding and their arms wrapping each other. The movement was so rough, that their bodies ended up being pressed together and her faces inches apart.
Haneul looked up and he looked down at her. His smile slowly vanished and his heart was pounding against his chest. Haneul felt her whole body tremble as soon as his wild eyes landed on her, being closer than ever before. Her stomach felt like flipping, and she could hear her own heartbeats against her ear.
"So... I'm a pretty boy" He muttered under his breath.
Haneul didn't dare to say a thing. But they couldn't stop themselves from feeling.
Yeonjun got lost in her. Her pale skin, her bambi eyes and those perfectly shaped lips of hers. He couldn't think straight the moment his eyes moved down to stare at her lips. He could feel her breath against his face and the fogs of air got mixed as they panted. She, once again, felt bewitched by his stunning humanity. His hair looking so fluffy, moving slightly with the wind. His pouty lips looking so smooth and pink. His piercing gaze, his sweet scent. Oh my god, she needed help.
He let his impulses take control, and started leaning in. Haneul's heart was about to explode, but she didn't feel like moving.
Their noses brushed, and their eyes were slowly closing instinctively. Their foreheads rested against each other's, and Yeonjun's pillowy lips slightly brushed against hers.
But before something else could happen, Haneul reacted to the situation and pulled back. She pushed him playfully and smirked, taking him aback.
His face had a blank expression plastered on it, and she even wondered if he was mad at her. But then, he just chuckled mischevously.
"Ahh so you want to play?" He asked, moving forward.
She started moving backwards.
"No, no, I'm sorry, stay away!" She whined, laughing "Don't push me!"
She tried to escape, but he quickly reached her and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind.
"Should I just spin you around in the air?"
"No, let me go!"
They kept laughing until they felt the presence of someone.
"Hyung, I can't believe you guys came without us"
Yeonjun released the hold on Haneul and they turned to greet their friends who had just arrived.
"Seems like you guys were having fun" Beomgyu said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Well It's not my fault that you guys can't wake up early and are busy cuddling each other" Yeonjun said, snapping back.
"Who cuddled who?" Soobin asked, skating around them.
"Kai and Taehyun were cuddling while they slept" Haneul said, giggling.
Taehyun's and Kai's cheeks turned red and they looked away from each other, skating to opposite directions and making the rest laugh.
"I was cold okay?" Taehyun protested.
"I was assaulted in my sleep" Was Hueningkai's response. Taehyun reached him and pushed him to fall on his butt. "Hey! Next time I'm kicking you out!"
"You just dropped your dignity"
"Seriously can't you just stop fighting all the time?" Soobin said, sighing.
Beomgyu helped Kai to stand up and he went straight to follow Taehyun, hugging him from behind.
"See? We can! We love each other! We love friendship!"
"Get out of me!"
They just laughed at Taehyun's efforts to get rid of Hueningkai.
Haneul's heart was still racing, though. What was about to happen? He was just teasing her, or so she thought. The thing that actually worried her, was the fact that she almost allowed that to happen.
And she didn't know why.
Or why she regreted not doing it.
Or why she felt curious.
Or why he looked like an angel in front of her.
Yeonjun, on the other hand, wouldn't dare to say how hurt he felt. He didn't mean to do what he was about to do, he just followed his heart. But the way she pushed him away made him realize that it was a mistake.
It hurt, but he obviously understood.
He understood why she pushed him away.
He understood why she would never let him get that close.
He understood why he shouldn't do that again. Or why he shouldn't have been feeling so tempted.
Or so he thought.
