Twelve
Haneul's POV:
It had been three weeks since Rocky's passing. Yeonjun had insisted me too much to try to go to school so I could maybe keep my mind busy and distract myself from the pain, so I accepted. I really didn't want to go, I barely slept with all the nightmares I had and my lack of motivation was extreme.
I took a shower and lazily walked downstairs wearing my uniform. Yeonjun was leaning against the door, scrolling down his phone as he waited for me. As soon as he felt my footsteps, he looked up and smiled.
"I'm glad you decided to try" He said, lifting his hand and stroking my head gently, thing that was becoming usual in him.
I faked a smile, grabbing my backpack and placing it on my shoulder. Yeonjun opened the door for us, and let me out first, closing the door behind us right after. It was cold and windy outside, but we still decided to walk to school together.
We kept quiet for a while. I stared at him, he looked ahead as he walked with his hands in his pockets. His nose was slightly red, and whenever he exhaled a light cloud of breath appeared.
"Are you okay with this?" He asked, turning his head to look at me.
I shrugged.
"I guess I won't die for trying"
He smiled.
"You'll be okay"
"I'm just doing this because you said you had something for me"
"I see interest makes the world turn" He chuckled.
Deep down, the reason why I accepted to go, was because I wanted to do something for him in return. Yeonjun had been worrying about me and taking care of me too much and all he got from me was a harsh treatment. I felt bad for the way I had treated him. He wanted to see me trying to live, and I just wanted to please him somehow.
A few moments later, we had arrived. I walked to my locker, starting to feel the anxiety increasing inside of me. When I grabbed my books, a loud, high pitched voice startled me.
"Yeonjun!"
"Hey, Wendy"
I turned my head to look at the girl he was talking to. I didn't remember knowing her, so I kept my mouth shut. She was pretty, and it was more than obvious that she was into Yeonjun.
"I was wondering... Do you think we could study today after class? Remember I told you I'd help you out with your homework"
She looked at him with sparkly eyes and rosy cheeks. She kept fidgeting her fingers nervously, and biting the inside of her cheek. I diverted my gaze to Yeonjun, who scratched the back of his neck, and gave me a quick glance before he looked at her again.
"Uh, sure. Thank you" He smiled warmly. "Oh, this is Haneul"
I smiled at her, and she smiled back, but her smile wasn't authenthic, and anyone could've told.
"I'm Wendy" She said, looking at me from head to toe "Oh, you're the girl that had an accident, right? I heard you lost your boyfriend. I'm sorry for your loss" She added, placing her hand on my shoulder.
The way she talked about such a sensitive topic felt like knives and made my stomach turn upside down.
"Yeah, thanks"
"It's good to see you can continue with your life quickly. You must be really strong"
I was about to speak when Yeonjun interrupted.
"Eh, yeah, excuse us Wendy, I'm going to take her to class. I'll see you later"
"It's okay, I'll be waiting!" She said, waving goodbye. Yeonjun placed his arm around my shoulders and started to walk. However, I managed to see the way she was glaring at me as soon as we left.
What a fake snake.
"Who is she?" I asked. He pulled his arm away from me and smiled.
"A friend. She is really nice"
"Yeah, I noticed"

One of my classes was finally over, and I already felt like I wasn't able to attend to another one. It was time for lunch, and Yeonjun was already waiting for me when I walked out of the classroom, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Are you a bodyguard or something?" I asked, walking past him.
He soon reached me and started walking next to me.
"Hey, don't be rude. I'm a great companion"
I snorted, rolling my eyes in response.
When we got closer to the cafeteria, I saw a memorial board with Rocky's photo. It was surrounded by flowers, candles and even plushies. I stopped on my tracks, and just stood there seeing the face I missed the most and hadn't seen in almost a month. A knot formed on my throat, and my heart sank. I felt tears forming in my eyes.
Yeonjun noticed, and grabbed my hand, squeezing it.
"Are you okay?" He whispered. I blinked a couple of times and diverted my gaze away from the picture.
"Yeah, let's go" I said, pulling him by the hand and entering the cafeteria.
He didn't question anything, and I thanked him for that. He ended up leading the way, until we reached a table with four boys joking around. One of them, who had dark hair, pale skin and dimples, smiled widely and waved.
"Hyung!" He greeted Yeonjun.
"Hi guys. This is Haneul, Rocky's girlfriend"
Their smiles instantly vanished. I was hating the way the people looked at me since Rocky died.
"Sorry for your loss" One of them said, with a subtle gray hair. "I'm Beomgyu"
"I'm Soobin. My condolences" Added the one with dimples.
"I'm Taehyun"
"And I'm Hueningkai, you can call me Kai"
I bowed at them and tried my best to show a real smile. I took a seat, but Yeonjun didn't.
"Taehyun, do you have what I asked?"
I looked at them confused. The boy snapped his fingers and took something out of his pocket.
"Here" He smiled, extending his hand to me. I looked at Yeonjun and he simply nodded, so I reached out and grabbed what looked like a pendrive.
"What is this?"
"All the pictures and videos from your old phone"
My eyes widened in shock. I wasn't expecting that.
"Oh my god... Thank you" I whispered, feeling a lump on my throat. I couldn't even look at them, I just kept staring at the little thing that had all my memories.
"My pleasure" Taehyun said.
I looked up and smiled at him, then looked at Yeonjun. My eyes were watery, he just smiled.
"I promised I would" He said, winking at me.
Lunch time finished pretty quickly. Even though they were really nice guys, I couldn't help but isolate myself. All I could think about was how badly I wanted to see the videos. I was feeling terrible at school. I was anxious, tired, and in so much pain. I wanted to go home.
I decided I couldn't stay there anymore, so I dropped my class and walked home. In the way, I saw Taehyun again, but I excused myself in a hurry.
When I finally arrived, my breath was ragged. My hands were shaking and I was feeling nauseous, but I grabbed my laptop and placed the dispositive in it.
There he was... In all those videos. I watched every single one, and tears were running down my face uncontrollably.
His beautiful smile. His voice. I missed him so much. I just wanted him back.
You always made me smile... You were so funny. I loved it when you got shy whenever I recorded you being silly... You have no idea of how cute I found your sense of humor.
Those snaps you sent me when I was stressed about my exams. You always made sure I ate properly... Just like Yeonjun is doing now. But it's not the same...
I miss your laugh.
You said you didn't like it when I made videos of you, but you still smiled and played along... Silly.
The day I accidentally broke your headphones and you made me believe you were mad at me, but you were just trolling me.
I also remember that day... I was sick and you went to a party with Yeonjun. You insisted that you wanted to stay with me, but I asked you to go and have fun. Yeonjun sent me this to make me feel better... And it worked better than any kind of medicine.
Why did you have to leave me? I wish you didn't go. I wish you didn't go away.
I was an ocean of tears. I couldn't stop sobbing as he looked at his face. My heart felt like breaking over, and over again. The pain was unbearable. I couldn't live without him, I didn't want to.
I opened his chatroom impulsively. I wasn't thinking straight at that point. My feelings were suffocating me, and I was desperate to get it off my chest.
I was angry. I was tired. I couldn't take it anymore.
I stood up and opened the drawers of my nightstand, grabbing the painkillers the doctor prescribed me after the accident. I ran downstairs and grabbed a glass of water, going upstairs again. I could barely breathe, I was hiccuping. I wanted it to stop.
The nightmares, the pain, the hopelessness.
My hand full of pills. I swallowed them quickly.
I grabbed Rocky's goodie and hugged it tightly. I pressed his number on my phone.
"Hey, this is Rocky. I can't talk right now, so please leave your message"
Light sobs escaped my lips at the sound of his voice. Somehow, it soothed me. I closed my eyes, as I felt my body slowly shutting down.
Yeonjun's POV:
I walked out of the classroom, stretching my body and yawning. I went straight to look for Haneul, but his classroom was empty. I started to look around, trying to find her, with no success.
"Yeonjun! Are you ready to go to study?" I heard Wendy's cheerful voice. I turned my head and smiled at her, but kept looking around me.
"Uh, yeah, just wait a minute"
She frowned, looking confused.
"Are you looking for something?"
I was about to respond, when I spotted Taehyun.
"Hey, Taehyun!" I called him, grabbing his shoulder.
"Hi hyung"
"Have you seen Haneul?"
He frowned.
"Yeah, like an hour ago. She left the campus in a hurry. I tried to talk to her but she said she wasn't feeling well"
My eyes widened, and I felt like my heart had stopped.
"Damn it. Thanks Taehyun" I spat, turning on my heels and walking away.
Wendy ran after me, grabbing my hand and stopping me.
"Just leave her alone, Yeonjun. She will be okay. Let's go to study!"
"I'm sorry, Wendy, but you have no idea of how bad this is"
With that, I stormed out of the campus, not caring about what she could feel of think.
As I ran as fast as I could, I grabbed my phone and dialed her number. I had a terrible feeling about it.
"Please pick up, please pick up"
But she didn't.
