Bliss
The class went as normal as it could. Everything was okay to understand except math and science. Gosh, the math I learned is so much different than it is in America. I even forgot things I already knew because my brain was filled with mixed stuff. I spent the rest of the class and it was lunch. I wished I could just sit alone during lunch, but Charlotte and the girls were waiting in front of my class.
"Irene, let's go and get lunch together," Charlotte said, with an over-reacting smile on her face.
They grabbed my hands and took me to the cafeteria before I said yes. Lunch was okay compared to the stuff I ate in Korea, but the four never stopped talking. They talked about this body named James, who in their opinion, was the most handsome boy in school.
"Irene, what kind of club activity are you going to engage in?"
"I never thought about it. What about you?"
"Oh, we are all in the cheer club. You should also be a cheerleader. All the popular kids do it."
"But I have no idea of cheering."
"It is the same as dancing. And also how good you cheer doesn't matter. Cheerleaders practice with the football club. Do you even know how handsome the football guys are?"
"Huh?"
"James Eves, the most handsome guy in the whole school is in the football club. Gosh, you should see his eyes." Chole said.
"His eyes are handsome, of course," Lucy said, nodding.
"What is the dance club you talked about earlier?"
"Seriously, Irene, the dance club? That is just a club made by some kind of nerds." Charlotte said.
"Yeah, it is just a waste of talent if you go in there. That is why there are only 3 people in the club compared to the others."
And there were another 30 minutes of the four talking about how trashy the dance club was. They told me that it was made with this girl named Ellie who was the girl who everyone hated. There was no specific reason why, but Charlotte kept talking about how a bitch she was. I spent the rest of the hours listening to what they were talking about. I didn't engage in the talk since I knew nothing about this girl. After lunch, I went to my classroom to listen to the rest of the class. Adrian was sitting next to me. The teacher came in and class started. Halfway through the class, I got a letter. It was from Adrian.
Meet me after school. We have a place to go. Nothing Dangerous, trust me. - Adrian.
Okay, it is just my first day at school and I ended up being friends with the bullies of the school, and a boy sitting right next to me says to meet him after school. How bad could it go?
After a few classes, it was finally over. Charlotte and the gang waited for me, but I kindly refused them saying that my dad was picking me up. As they came out of sight, I went to the school gates to meet Adrian.
"Why on earth did you call me? We barely talked with each other, and this was my first day at school. I don't want to get in trouble."
"It is something about my older sibling. She needs you. And me, too"
"Huh? Why does your sister need me? I never talked to her, I don't even know who she is."
Adrian didn't answer me. Instead, he kept walking to a grey building.
"Do you anything about Bliss?"
"Bliss?"
"The school dance club."
"Oh I heard the school has a dance club from Charlotte but why?"
"As a little tip for surviving at Riverside High School, don't listen to what Charlotte and the gang say," Adrian says, looking seriously. I nodded at him and he smiled.
"You will see. Come here."
He took me to the 3rd floor of the building. There was a dance studio on the floor, and we got in there.
"Ellie, there is somebody you want to meet."
Ellie? The girl Charlotte talked about? I then figured out that 'Bliss' Adrian talked about was the dance club Charlotte talked about. Adrian took me to a small practice room where 2 other girls were practicing.
"Ellie, this is Irene. She is from Korea."
"Oh, you must be the idol trainee that hangs out with the Charlotte gang."
"How do you know that? I never talked with you. You are not even in the same grade."
"Everyone knows who gets along with Charlotte," Adrian said instead.
"Do you know how to dance?"
"Duh yeah. I danced for 4 years." I replied, with a face.
"That's great!" A girl stretching in front of the mirror said, eagerly.
"Hi, Irene. I'm Amy. I was just wondering if you can see us dancing. We just finished another song. I think it would be great to feedback us."
"But..."
"Yeah, it wouldn't take that long. I promise," said Adrian.
The other girls were getting ready to start while Adrian put on the music. It was DALLA DALLA by ITZY. As a person who practiced this song, this was the hardest one yet. I was quite curious how they would perform. But as I heard the first line sung by Ellie, I was surprised. Not that because they were good, it was rather terrible. The pitch wasn't right, the moves weren't matched, and the girl who didn't introduce her name to me didn't even sing the lyrics. After they finished, I hardly thought how to feedback to them.
"How do you think about it?" Amy said, with her eyes filled with excitement.
"Umm ah um err..."
"You can tell them you hated it. It's okay." Adrian said.
"I'm sorry to tell this but I need to be honest to help you grow. I didn't like it."
I saw Amy and Ellie's face fall.
"DALLA DALLA is a hard song. It's tough and the moves are particularly hard. But the thing is, you guys didn't match. Maybe I can help you with that."
"Really? Are you sure?" Ellie said, surprised.
"Yeah, just wait until I call my parents that I am with my school friends."
"Of course!" Ellie and Amy chanted. But the other girl didn't look like she was listening.
I told dad that I was studying with my school friends. He surely said yes, and he told me that I was doing a good job of adapting to this school. I finished the call and hurried back to the room.
"Okay, so how about you start from the first?"
