032 ⇾ undeniable feelings & a happy start
"BRING ME OUT FOR BREAKFAST, LOVEBIRDS! IT'S ALREADY 9AM AND I'M HUNGRY!"
Just as Jean's mother was about to warn her son from below to watch his manners, she distantly heard her daughter yell something along the lines of getting some pizza on his own.
The older woman merely shook her head at her children's jocular banter and resumed to busying herself with pan-frying strips of bacon for her husband who had an amused smile plastered on his face. They were finally back home after their weekend trip and they'd definitely missed hearing their children banter almost every morning.
Upstairs, Jean was already scrambling out of bed with a pillow in her hand, ready to hit her brother square in the face with it. The second she pulled the door open with the expectation of facing her brother, she threw the pillow without even considering who was actually standing on the other side of the door.
"Oof!"
"Sebastian is actually in his room as we speak---" Jean began but was immediately cut off by a voice that wasn't Jon's.
"Actually, doll, Sebastian's standing right here." Jean's eyes grew wide at the sight of Sebastian standing right in front of her, with the pillow she threw now in his hand---the pillow that was actually meant for her annoying brother was actually thrown at Sebastian instead.
Naturally, as soon as realization dawned upon her, she turned to the room that was diagonally across from hers and was instantly met with her younger brother smirking deviously at her as he mockingly waved at her.
"Morning, big sis," Jon said, leaning against his door frame with his arms folded across his chest as he watched his sister's face fall.
Jean gaped at her brother in annoyance. "You little fucking weasel---"
"Doll, it's fine," Sebastian interjected, chuckling to lighten the mood. By the looks of it, he knew this morning banter of theirs was a Pierce sibling thing. "Why don't we just get ready real quick and head out to the nearest café to get something nice to eat?"
Just as Jean was about to protest to the idea, Sebastian shot her a look that basically told her that she should just go with it. She forced herself to bite her tongue, released a long breath and nodded. "Fine," she huffed. "Jonathan, you better be ready in twenty minutes."
"Do I get to pick the place?" Jon asked, his eyes darting from Jean to Sebastian, both of whom had their eyes set on each other and nothing else. "I'll take that as a 'yes'," he mumbled to himself, a small smile forming on his lips as he retreated to his room.
"You look beautiful," Sebastian mouthed the words to Jean and watched as a shy smile crept up her lips while her cheeks began to flush for the umpteenth time this weekend.
Jean snapped her head up, fixing her gaze on him as she rolled her eyes out of diffidence. She knew her cheeks probably matched that of the colour of the roses in her room and she mentally cursed herself for blushing so easily around Sebastian.
When she realized that he wasn't going to be the first to break eye contact, Jean took a sharp intake of breath and averted her gaze quicker than she'd expected, biting down on her bottom lip as she heard a light chuckle slip past his lips.
With her eyes fixated on the mini table by the stairs---the one he conveniently knocked over last night---Jean could still roughly make out what he was doing out of the corner of her eye; he was shifting his weight from one leg to another out of nervousness. He was nervous.
Sebastian Stan was actually nervous and she couldn't help but smile a little at his actions. She had no idea that she'd even have that effect on him but seeing it now, even if it's just out from the corner of her eye, it made her heart flutter more than she'd like to admit.
Sebastian, on the other hand, was admiring the brunette with a look of wonderment plastered on his face. He knew she was lost in her own thoughts, much like he was at the moment, and he wanted nothing more than to kiss her right there and then.
He watched as she shifted from one leg to another, mirroring his previous actions, eliciting a soft chuckle from him---one that was too soft for her to notice. He sighed endearingly and took two strides towards her before delicately encasing his fingers around hers.
Pulled out from her daze, Jean's eyes wandered over to his cerulean ones and she felt her breath slightly hitch in her throat as Sebastian began leaning in towards her, slowly and hesitantly. He stopped every now and then, his eyes darting from her lips to her eyes just to be sure that she was comfortable with what he was about to do.
Jean gave him a silent approval through the look in her eyes as they, too, darted from his eyes to his lips and then to his eyes again. A small smile played on Sebastian's lips as he inched a little closer to her and leaned in to place a chaste yet lingering kiss on her right cheek.
Jean's eyes fluttered close as soon as his lips met her cheek, her breathing becoming more erratic as she felt his lips linger a little longer than she'd expected. The kiss was wildly affectionate and soft and warm but at the same time, it was electric and bone-crushingly fervent.
The second she felt his soft lips leave her cheek, she found herself releasing the breath she didn't know she was even holding, and light chuckle followed suit when Sebastian placed yet another fervent but quick kiss on her cheek before pulling away. She watched him visibly swallow the lump in his throat as he met her gaze once more with her hand still held in his.
"G'morning," he murmured, eliciting the sweetest and softest giggle from Jean as she responded the same.
. . . . . .
"So. . . how did you guys sleep last night?" Jon asked with a hint of humour laced in his voice.
Sebastian froze almost instantly at the sound of Jon's question, finding the scrambled he'd shoved into his mouth hard to swallow while Jean nearly choked on her cup of English breakfast tea. Jon had to bite back the smile that was starting to creep its way on to his lips by shoving a large slice of ham into his mouth as he watched Sebastian's face go pale right in front of him.
Jean knew her brother must have heard the table being knocked over last night, considering the fact that it was only 10.30pm when Sebastian was stood right outside her room. She knew he hadn't been asleep yet because he'd always study till at least 11.30pm before hitting the sack.
Damn you, Jon, for wanting to be an A+ student.
"It was great. Thanks for asking," Jean replied, her tone matching her brother's before she took another sip of her cup of tea.
Sebastian nodded in agreement, pointing the blunt end of his fork towards her. "Mine was great, too. Thanks for asking, bud."
"You know," Jon trailed off, reaching for his glass of fresh orange juice. "I thought I heard something last night. . . I think poor Chester must have ran into the table by the stairs---silly, silly dog."
Both Jean and Sebastian remained silent for the next few minutes while Jon went on and on about how Chester was always so clumsy and playful and probably didn't notice the table in the dark, even though it's been there way before they brought him home from the pet shop.
Jean released a quiet sigh as she stretched her hand out to tap Sebastian on his knee. He visibly stiffened as he spared her a quick glance out of the corner of his eye.
Jean used her index finger and began writing something on his knee, which evidently prompted Sebastian to cast his eyes downwards. He watched as she scribbled the word 'PRICK' on his knee, knowing full well that she was directing it at Jon and this evoked a chuckle and a cough at the same time from Sebastian. Jean refrained herself from laughing and quickly withdrew her hand before her brother took notice of it.
While both Jean and Sebastian thought that Jon hadn't noticed their little exchange, he actually did. He witnessed the entire thing but decided to keep it to himself as he smiled at the sight of it, relieved to finally see his sister so incredibly happy, especially with someone like Sebastian.
"You guys didn't do the dirty, did you?" Jon piped up after a moment. This immediately caught their attention as Jean's mouth hung agape while Sebastian's eyes grew wide at the sound of the question.
"We did not---"
"Jon, I swear we didn't do anything---"
"---we just watched Harry Potter---"
"---and cuddled---"
"Seb!"
"---oh shit, right. . . sorry, too much infor---"
"Guys, relax," Jon laughed as he leaned forward with his hands clasped on the table. "I know you didn't do anything but I do know that Sebastian knocked over the table by the stairs last night."
Sebastian flashed Jon a sheepish smile before looking away in embarrassment, his hand now rubbing the back of his neck. Jean sensed his nervousness and was about to say something to her brother but Jon beat her to it and eased their worries.
"Even if you did do anything last night, it's none of my business. I was just messing with you two. Plus, I heard Hermione's infamous 'swish and flick' line," Jon reassured them with an honest smile. "I love the both of you to death and I really need to tell you guys this; I'm so glad to see the both of you so happy and comfortable with one another. I really am."
Jean flashed her brother a grateful look and stood up from her seat to hug him from behind. Jean looped her arms around her brother, her chin resting on his shoulder as she felt him lean his head sideways, their temples now touching.
"I love you, big sis," Jon said with a smile on his face before turning to face Sebastian. "And I love you too, future brother-in-law. Now, take me home, lovebirds. I need to study."
