Chapter 11
The signs were well-known. The cupid sensed it, and he knows the secret language by heart. He's become accustomed to the situation. He'd seen a lot of people with the same symptoms. That is how cupids detect and identify matches in the early stages of love.
When subjects exhibit a preliminary level of attraction to another person, they identify potential love matches. That's when they shoot the arrow and make couples fall in love with each other.
Yoongi displayed the same signs – symptoms of physical attraction – as the basic level of love.
Hoseok could feel the chemistry in every pore of Yoongi's body. Yoongi felt tingles in his body and butterflies in his stomach – a very addictive, powerful, feel-good, energising sensation.
There is, however, one snag in the entire scheme.
Yoongi is reacting physically to Hoseok, a cupid.
It's wrong on so many levels.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened to cupids. A subject might find the cupid physically appealing – cupids are otherworldly beautiful.
That's why approaching the subjects physically is against protocol. That is why cupids remain unnoticed by subjects. Hoseok interacted with humans on occasion, especially when the subject was difficult. And he was always careful to keep his distance and remain impersonal. Even if the human thought he was attractive, he remained uninterested.
It was never a problem because humans are usually fickle – at least the ones the cupid had met so far. Their interest waned eventually when they met another, more physically appealing and responsive candidate.
When did he cross the line with Yoongi?
"So, you and Yoongi?"
Amelia leaned forward in her seat and whispered.
"What do you mean?" Hoseok cocked his chin.
"Oh, come on! Don't be a dummy. You two can't take your gaze away from each other "She burst out laughing.
"It's not like that..." Hoseok tried to explain.
"Leave him alone, Amelia," Jin advised. "It's his business," he grumbled.
"Fine!" Amelia scowled. "I was only trying to help," she sniffed. "It's just that Yoongi had never shown any interest in anyone before. He was married to his job "She motioned to Hoseok with her hand. "It's just strange to see him so smitten," she shrugged.
"He's not smitten," Hoseok hissed. "That's not how smitten looks normally..." Hoseok came to a halt in the middle of his sentence. He can't tell these people that he's an expert on love. He wished he could. Yoongi is not smitten; he is simply physically attracted to Hoseok. Right?
Whatever, Hobi." Amelia let out a snort and rose to her feet. "Pizza's here..." She sang as she walked out of the room.
"Don't worry about her, Hoseok," Jin advised. "Yoongi is a decent man. Go for it if you like him."
"Yeah... okay," Hoseok grumbled.
They now believe something is going on between them. It's entirely Hoseok's fault. In frustration, he sagged on the chair.
He needs to reorganise his priorities.
His main responsibility is to complete his mother's task of finding the perfect match for Yoongi.
