"I summoned you here for a special mission, Hoseok," Venus, the goddess of love, said, scrutinising her favourite cupid.

"I'd like to offer my services to you, mother," The aforementioned cupid bowed his head in respect and gratitude.

"We need to assist a human in finding love. He deserves to be happy." When she waved her hand, a golden parchment fell from the sky.

Hoseok caught it deftly, his slender fingers wrapping around it. He smiled as he faced the Goddess, not bothering to examine it.

"I'm confident in your abilities. And I'll wait for your safe return home." Venus smiled at him, her eyes twinkling with hope.

"I will not let you down, mother."

He is Venus's best cupid. Hoseok was entrusted with important tasks by the goddess of love. Nonetheless, she did not fail to forewarn him with her usual words, as she does with all cupids in their various tasks. Her favourite son has the potential to be the best cupid. He excels at matching humans with their ideal match. The gentle reprimand, however, is genuine.

"You're aware of the rules, Hoseok." Her majestic voice echoed throughout the palace's great hall. "Your mission is to assist the human in finding his ideal match and making him fall in love." Venus kept a close eye on her son. "You should not fall for him. You should never fall in love with your subject."

Hoseok fought the urge to roll his eyes. As if he, a cupid, a God, would be interested in a mere mortal.

It had happened in the past. All of Venus's sons and daughters grew up hearing the story of Eros, the cupid who fell in love with Psych, a human girl.

Hoseok isn't going to have a problem with that. He's now a professional cupid.

"You are aware of the ramifications of doing so. If you don't want to lose everything—"

"I understand," he cut her off politely. "Mother," he added belatedly.

Venus had a grudging admiration for her son. He's nefarious, and he's been known to use unconventional methods to achieve his goals. He doesn't always follow the rules, which puts Venus in perilous situations.

Nonetheless, she was aware that Hoseok was her last and only option in this particular case.

"My son, go fulfill your duty."

The goddess of love dismissed him with a wave of her hand.

Hoseok bowed his head, kissed his mother goodbye, stuffed the parchment inside his tunic, and walked out of the hall.
