Anyway, I have her request (which was to not have Nico die,) so...
You're a daughter of Lemnos in this one!
___
NICO DI ANGELO
HE WATCHED HAZEL'S figure disappear with Percy and Frank. Nico still couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to go so horribly wrong. The last time he'd seen one of his sisters off on a quest with Percy... he shook his head.
Don't think about it, he admonished himself.
He hurried into his separate cabin - perks of being the supposed 'ambassador' of Pluto - and turned on the sink, waiting till the hot water created steam, which the light from the window created a rainbow with. Digging a drachma from his pocket, he looked around uneasily before stating, "O Iris, goddess of the rainbow, show me Y/N L/N at Camp Half-Blood."
The rainbow shimmered before an image of Y/N sitting on the beach solidified before him. She easily grinned at him. "Hey, Nico, how's it going?"
Wasting no time for pleasantries, he cut right to it. "Percy Jackson's come to camp. He, Hazel, and Frank have set off on a quest."
She raised an eyebrow and whistled, slowly. "The great Percy Jackson, huh? Has he blown up anything yet?"
"If you count Medusa's sisters. Hera - Juno, I mean," he corrected himself, "Juno showed up to camp to bless his arrival."
She groaned. "Great. Any other major Olympian visits that I missed out on?"
"Mars. He gave them the quest, and apparently he's Frank's father."
"Huh. Never pegged Frank as the type, to be honest."
"How's Camp Half-Blood?"
She rolled her eyes. "Besides treating me like I'm a vampire? I mean, honestly, the beds in your cabin are literally coffins! And while we're on the subject, would it kill them to actually build a cabin for Thanatos?"
At his unimpressed look, Y/N subsided. "Leo's been working on the Argo II almost twenty-four seven. His flying table almost exploded the entirety of Camp Half-Blood because it threw a temper tantrum. They're lucky I could subdue the maenads."
He rubbed his temples, where he could feel a headache forming. "I don't even want to know."
She frowned. "Why are you I-M'ing me so early? You weren't supposed to check in until tomorrow."
"I need you to take double duty."
"Nico, I can't take both camps at once. My shadow-traveling is unpredictable, at best. Remember that time I landed in the lake? And besides," she added, "Why do you need me to take both camps? The Romans hate me too, probably even more so than you. Being the daughter of Death doesn't really endear yourself to others."
Nico rolled his eyes. "I have to go investigate some things."
Y/N remained silent, waiting for him to elaborate.
He huffed. "The Doors of Death are open - "
"No Styx, Sherlock." Y/N rolled her eyes.
"Would you be quiet and let me finish?" Nico groaned. "Are you sure you want to know where I'm going?"
Y/N pretended to zip her lips and throw a nonexistent key behind her shoulder.
"I'm going to go poke around, to go investigate."
"Without me?" Y/N broke her supposed vow of silence. "We're a team, Nico. Whether you like it or not. Besides, all this subterfuge is making me bored. They still think I'm an ordinary Greek camper, but I nearly slipped up and showed them my SPQR tattoo yesterday."
"How'd you do that?"
"I was beating up Connor and Travis - " she abruptly broke off. "You're trying to distract me, aren't you? You son of a Hydra!"
Nico rolled his eyes - they seemed to do that a lot around each other. Maybe he should keep track - and replied, "Y/N, there's no time for this! I have to go alone."
She scoffed. "Please. I'm a daughter of the Underworld too, Mr. I'm-Too-Stubborn-To-Get-Help! I'm a daughter of Thanatos, for crying out loud! Besides," and here she gave a wicked grin, unsheathing her two daggers - long and wickedly sharp, black shot through with streaks of silver - "You might need a Roman on your side."
Nico was fairly certain that ninety-nine percent of all his headaches came from Y/N.
"Plus, Camp Half-Blood is close to that entrance Orpheus made to the Underworld. You can shadow-travel to Camp Half-Blood, pick me up, and then we go open the rocks and voilá! We're in the Underworld. Then, we poke around, stab some things, and leave. Easy as pie."
Nico gave up. "Fine."
"Really?! I mean, um, glad you finally saw the light of reason."
"I'll pick you up tomorrow."
"If you don't come, I'm going to murder you, then tie your cold, dead corpse to the back of my chariot."
Y/N swiped her hand through the rainbow before he could offer a rebuttal. Nico slumped down on his bed, groaning.
Ever since their respective fathers had contacted them, they'd swapped back and forth between camps, pretending to be ambassadors of the Underworld. Y/N was a Roman, a daughter of Lemnos, in fact. Nico was a son of Hades and a Greek. They'd switched off, with Y/N pretending to be on missions for her father and Hades, whereas Nico was simply an ambassador.
Neither of them were really well received in either camp (trying to be friends with someone whose father would take your soul someday was a little off-putting,) but neither Nico nor Y/N cared. Or at least, he told himself that neither of them cared.
The bedsprings creaked as he slowly got off the bed, black hair rumpled like he'd run through a tornado. Running a hand through it and disheveling it even more, he slowly trudged to the bathroom, splashing cold water on his face.
He headed out into the bright sunshine and immediately squinted while his eyes tried to get accustomed to the glare. Heading down the quaintly cobbled streets of New Rome, he briskly walked towards the principia.
He knocked on the door; then without waiting for a response, headed in.
Reyna was sitting alone at the desk, official-looking papers spread in front of her. She looked up wearily. "Yes, Nico?"
"I'm leaving."
Slowly, she nodded. "I can't say the Legion will miss you."
He snorted. "Yeah, who would miss the son of Pluto?"
She shook her head sadly. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry, Nico."
He bit his lip, a part of him idly wondering if he'd draw blood. "You'd be the first."
Reyna didn't say anything, so he hurried on. "I won't be back for a while. Do not try to contact me."
He turned and set his shoulders, trying to compensate for the new weight that seemed to have been added onto him.
The words followed him out, drifting through the crack in the door before he shut it. "Stay safe, Nico."
___
Y/N L/N
YOU MET HIS gaze with one of her own, filled with steely determination. "Are you ready?" he asked you.
You swung her dark blue backpack on her shoulders, shifting them, making your hair bounce slightly. "Thought you'd never ask."
He grabbed your hand, and the two of you dissolved into the shadows, leaving behind the majestic pine that was Thalia's tree.
They popped out next to the entrance in Central Park. Nico stumbled slightly, and you seemed unsteady, too. Taking a small cube of ambrosia out of a ziplock baggie in your pocket, you broke it in half and gave Nico a piece. As always, it tasted like F/F, bringing back sweet memories.
You frowned and looked over to him, a new problem occurring to her. "Can you sing?"
Cue the eyebrow raise. "No."
"So then how in Tartarus are we going to get in?"
"You can sing, can you?"
You groaned. "I don't even know what to sing."
He rolled his eyes. "Just pick your favorite song. My gods, Y/N, it's not like you're performing for a talent show or something."
"Oh, shut up." you muttered. Quickly, before you could overthink it, you launched into the chorus of (F/S favorite song.)
The rocks rumbled as a dark passageway revealed itself, a gaping hole in the peaceful scenery of Central Park. Cheeks flushing with embarrassment, you forged ahead. "Come on. Let's go."

TRUDGING ACROSS THE gloomy fields, you sighed unhappily as you looked at the chittering spirits of Asphodel. Being a daughter of Lemnos, you could understand them. They were aimlessly muttering things, things that didn't have any import on them right now but must have been important for them in their lives.
A birthday cake for a daughter...
A new toy for a godson....
A ring to propose...
They were asking other spirits about these things, at first with hope that they might have some information about these things. Then with despair, because nobody knew - nobody ever knew - anything about anything.
The dead weren't scary. They were just sad. (did anyone see that reference? first to comment what book/who said it gets a dedication next chapter)
As soon as you exited the Fields of Asphodel, you heaved a sigh of relief and relaxed. Nico, sensing this, warned you, "Don't get complacent. The worst is yet to come."
"I know that." you replied.
The two of you walked on in silence.
Soon, there was nothing but rocky black plain, the glowing white spirits left behind. The whole place tingled with such a sense of wrongness that your skin crawled, invisible fingers dragging lightly over your skin. Shivering, you looked over at Nico. "Do you feel it?"
He solemnly nodded. "This is a place of great evil, Y/N. You know the name - don't say it here! Names have power."
Tartarus. The word chilled you deep into your bones. You gulped. "Is it too late to turn back now? This could be a trap, Nico."
"I'm going."
"Fine."
___
"WOULD IT BE too late," you panted, slicing your dagger through a empousai, "to say 'I told you so'?"
"Really not the time, Y/N." he grunted as his Stygian iron sword slashed through a telkhine.
"Oh, please. It's always the right time to admit that I'm right." you muttered to yourself.
They were pinning you in, slowly forcing you together. Your backs were to that endless chasm, perhaps three hundred yards away. Still, you could feel the pull, the menacing whispers around you.
"Nico!" you screamed. A young telkhine was sneaking up behind him. "Duck!"
He ducked effortlessly as you hurled one of your daggers, disintegrating it. With barely a pause in his fighting, he tossed the dagger back to you.
Abruptly, all the monsters stopped. Moving as one, they retreated, leaving you and Nico panting, covered in gashes. Limping over to Nico, you handed him an ambrosia cube, taking one yourself.
The ground shook, making rocks tremble and cracks widen.
Nico cursed. "Y/N, go. Now."
"I'm not leaving you."
The figure of a woman coalesced. Gaea. "What do you want from us?" you growled, trying to hide the fact that your hands were shaking.
A sleepy smile grew on her face. "You two are... how shall I put it? Liabilities. Two loose ends that I need to tie up."
A snarl took the place of the smile, wild and feral. "Or maybe I'll just cut them."
The power pulling you increased, making you stagger back a step. Nico's face had grown even paler, if that was possible. "No," he said, voice shaking. "You won't make us go in there."
"Ah, but I don't need to," she said. "He will."
A word echoed through the Underworld.
Tartarus.
You grabbed Nico's hand and squeezed it. "Together," you told him, smiling weakly. "Two people are better than one, right?"
Gaea advanced, smiling menacingly. The pull of the pit backwards increased.
"On the count of three?" he asked.
One...
Two...
"Three!"
Dark.
Wind whistling through your ears.
Falling.
But not alone.
