Jason x Reader- Terrible Things Pt. 2
This is kind of a prequel depicting what happened where you got stabbed (whoops). Thanks 405826eh and MsAna168 for suggesting a part two!
Chiron trotted back and forth, tail swishing nervously. "Normally, we don't sen the older demigods on a quest, but you're our only option. Will the two of you accept?"
You stood firm and determined, eyes fierce, jaw set. "I agree."
Jason nodded. "I also agree."
"But," you continued. "B/N has to be taken care of. Can you keep him here?"
The old centaur nods, clearly relieved. "Of course."
You relax infinitesimally. "Great. What's the mission?"
"Oh, a rogue Monster Donut has opened up. Normally, we'd wait, but the location is in quite a busy part of the city. Can the two of you bring Leo along? He might be useful."
You slam your forehead into the table. "Great, a car ride with the most hyperactive, ADHD demigod I know."
Jason sighs. "Fine."
"But," you add, casting your most steely glance at the old centaur, "If he talks me to death, it's all your fault."

One half hour later, your ears were being talked off.
Jason interrupts his flow of words. "Leo?"
"Yep?"
"Y'know, we've been friends for a long time..."
The hyperactive boy frowns, tries to count on his fingers, and gives up. "More than I can count."
Jason exhales through his nose. "And as your best friend, I am telling you this in the nicest way possible-"
"Uh-oh."
"Will you please, for the love of Zeus, shut up for five minutes?"
Leo opens his mouth, then closes it with a barely audible clop.
Smiling, you lean over and brush your lips with Jason's.
"My hero."
"PDA!" Leo yelled.
"Leo!"
"Shutting up now..."

You crept along the deserted alleyway, hand on the hilt/handle of W/O/C.
"I don't like this," Jason muttered.
"Who would?" Leo retorts.
Jason rolls his eyes in frustration. "No, what I mean is that there aren't as many monsters as usual."
"Well, I mean, that's good for us, right?" you reply, still not understanding the problem.
"No, because if there are fewer monsters, that means the ones that are inside the Monster Donut are more deadly."
"Oh," Leo swallowed. "Great. I love deadly monsters."
"Also," Jason continued, "There's a high chance that there's a Hydra in there."
Leo does jazz hands weakly. "Whoop-dee-doo."
"We need a plan of attack," you state, drawing your W/O/C out of it's sheath with a satisfying shink.
"You and Leo go for the Hydra. I'll cover you." you continue, twirling your W/O/C.
Your husband nods grimly. "Fine."

It actually wasn't bad as Jason predicted. You made a mental note to scold him for being such a Gloomy Gus later.
Sure, there was a Hydra, but Jason and Leo easily dispatched it. You simply let your mind go on autopilot, automatically ducking, slashing, and jabbing when needed.
Soon, all that was left of the Monster Donut was piles of sulfurous dust that easily dissipated in the wind.
Jason wiped his brow. "Everybody good?"
His eyes fell on you, or more specifically, the gash on your arm. It was by far the worst injury you'd gotten, from a hellhound that caught you unawares.
"Oh gods, Y/N, you're hurt!" He rushed over to you and gave you a square of godly food.
"Thanks, Jase." You pop it into your mouth, savoring the taste of (F/F favorite food). Instantly, the gash on your arm starts to close up.
"Oh sure, just forget about the Supreme Commander of the Argo II." Leo walks over, hair covered in yellow dust, but smile as exuberant as ever.
You rolled your eyes. "I think you mean Repair Boy, Valdez."
He mock gasped, putting both hands to his heart. "Y/N, I thought you were my friend! Why would you betray me like this?"
He sinks to the floor, making both you and Jason laugh.
However, a cold chill ran down your neck, like someone walking on your grave. Your eyes scanned the surroundings, looking for anything out of the ordinary.
And caught a glimpse of the dangerous glint of a knife, heading straight towards Jason's back.
You head spun in the brief milliseconds that you had. You'd never be able to warn Jason in time. Only one course of action presented itself to you.
In an act of inhuman speed, you sprinted over to Jason, pushing him out of the way.
Taking the knife for yourself.
"Y/N!" Jason dropped down and caught you. "Styx!"
As blackness encroached upon your vision, you heard him saying, "Get back to camp. Now."
•∞•∞•∞•
A cocoon of darkness surrounds you, only letting brief sounds penetrate.
"-poison"
"-no cure"
"Golden Fleece-"
"not possible-"
"Apollo-"
"too late-"
And an inhuman sob, carrying so much pain and sorrow, somehow communicating the sound of a heart breaking.
Jason. I need to say goodbye.
This one thought spurs you on, and you muster the strength to pull your eyes open.
"Jase?"
He spins around, eyes streaky and bloodshot. "Y/N!"
Jason hurries over to your bedside, taking your hand, which you note has black, almost green, veins running through it. "Are you okay?"
You manage to croak out a laugh, wincing. "Sparky, I'm dying. I'm sorry."
The stone mask that the Roman leader has kept up for so long finally breaks and crumbles.
Finally, he manages to speak. "But what about our future? What about B/N? What about us, Y/N?"
You sigh, chest rattling. "I wish, Jason... But it's just not meant to be."
"Please stay with me... I'll do anything."
"It's not up to-" you retch, coughing up blood.
"Y/N! Please! Don't go!"
The words seem to be coming further and further away, like from a long tunnel. One more thing remains to be said, however.
"I lo-"
Silence, silence so quiet you could almost hear the sound of a single heart breaking beyond repair.
I love you too Y/N.
Hey. I think it's kind of cliché to have the person who's dying say 'I love you' right before he/she dies. Not everyone gets closure- you know what I mean?
Well anyway, see ya later!
