Board Games: Percy x Reader
This is actually a really cute adorkable fluff. Enjoy it while it lasts, though... trust me, what I have planned for other chapters isn't really nice.
It's not like the Phone Calls and Voicemails thing. This one's lovely.
This is literally the most cliché thing I have ever written. May the Muses forgive me.
HE GROANED AND flopped onto his back, staring up at the lamplight tracing patterns on the ceiling. "Why must we do this horrible torture?"
You regarded him calmly, a smile quirking up at the corners of your mouth. "Percy..."
"Can't you leave me to die in peace?"
"Oh for goodness' sakes, Percy, it's just Scrabble."
He leapt up. "Just? JustI? Dear gods, lady. Scrabble is, like, something you would be forced to play in the Fields of Punishment!"
"Alright, alright, I get your point. No need to be so melodramatic. We can play another game."
"Thank the gods!" He threw his hands up and ran to the game closet, you trailing behind at a more sedately pace.
He dug in the closet for a second, muttering to himself. "No... that's not it.... no, not that one... when did we even get that game?!"
Finally, he emerged from the closet, dusty but triumphant. "Found it!"
You burst out laughing, doubling over and clutching your chest.
***
"Percy, is this why you asked Leo to make a two-player version of Twister?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
You clicked the button of the clicker, and Leo's voice came on, sounding like he had had one (or two or three or four hundred) too many coffees. "Left foot blue, suckers!"
You sighed in relief. Although you were in a reverse bridge position, it was still easier than what Percy had to do, which was contort his body like a pretzel.
He groaned. "Why am I so horrible at these games?"
You shrugged. "Dunno. You picked it this time, so you can't complain there."
"Hey! I - whoa!" Percy promptly toppled over, landing on his back.
Jumping up, you put a foot on him, assuming a stereotypical conquerors' pose. "And Y/N L/N wins again!" you boomed in a stage announcer's voice.
Percy groaned and got up, rubbing the arch of his back. "Jeez, I feel like an eighty-year-old man. I thought we were friends, Y/N. C'mon!"
You laughed, although your heart gave a little twinge at that. Friends. That's all you would ever be. It was well-known that Percy was single; in fact, many girls (and boys) had tried to make a move on him. But Percy remained aloof, like the total Seaweed Brain he was. And if they didn't have a chance, what chance did you stand? Friends for twelve years, friends most likely forever. And it wasn't that you scorned his friendship, it was just that you had wanted something more for almost six years.
"Y/N? Y/N. Earth to Y/N?"
Your hands instinctively jumped into motion as he startled you. Pinning his throat to the floor with your forearm, you gave a sheepish smile when Percy started laughing. "Gods, Y/N, calm down. I'm not gonna kill ya."
"Sorry, instinct." You took your hands away from his throat, only to start giggling and pleading for Percy to stop as he began to tickle you.
"Oh - oh my gods, Percy!" You managed to choke out through fits of laughter. "Per - Perseus! Stop it!"
Grinning and flushed with victory, he leaned over you from where you were laying down, his hands on either side of your head.
Realizing the position you were in, the laughter died down in the back of your throat as his glimmering eyes shifted away awkwardly. "Erm... yeah..." He backed away from you and stood up, his right hand going to scratch the back of his neck.
Faking lightness you didn't feel, you stood up and made your way over to the game closet of the apartment the apartment you were sharing in New Rome. "What d'you want me to beat you at next, Jackson?"
He moaned. "Please not another game..."
"I'm picking this time." You pulled out Jenga. Before he could do so much as to open his mouth to protest, he grinned. "I'll strike you a deal."
"I'm listening." He leaned forward. "Does this food, perchance, involve food of the blue variety?"
"It depends." Before he could bust our his oh - gods - i'm - so - confused/adorable - baby - seal look, you hurried to elaborate. "Look, you're horrible at board games."
You waited for any protests or vehement denials. None were forthcoming.
"But maybe it's just 'cause you need a little incentive! So, without further ado -"
"Just get on with it Y/N, you're starting to sound like Zeus the Drama Queen." he grumbled.
You mock gasped. "I am shocked by that accusation! Anyways, as I was saying before I got so rudely interrupted - cough cough Percy -"
"Do you need a cough drop, Dolores?"
"Did you just reference Harry Potter to me? More to the point, did you just call me Umbridge?"
"Um..." he offered you a weak smile. "... no?"
"Hmph. Anyways, if you win, I'll give you something. Anything you want. It can't be anything like making me go scream at Hera in front of the entire Olympian Council, though gods know she deserves it. Something... reasonable, please. If I win, same goes."
"Even a kiss?"
Although your heart was pumping fast and you were fairly certain that your blush was evident for miles, you sighed and replied, "Yes, Kelp Head. A kiss."
"Just one round?" The black-haired boy was definitely interested now.
"Let's say... two out of three. Deal?" You offered your hand for him to shake.
"Deal!" He grabbed your hand and pumped it enthusiastically.
"And may the odds be ever in your favor." you grinned, not letting your gaze leave his.
***
THE TOWER WAS precariously balanced, at this point, a misplaced draft of air could knock the whole thing over. You held your breath cautiously as you selected your target, a block in the middle. It was almost completely out of the tower when -
"Boo!" Percy screamed in your ear from behind you. You screamed and instinctively lifted your hands up, which brought half the Jenga tower cascading down. You whirled around. "Percy!"
"What?" He smirked. "I'm technically not breaking the rules."
"Fine." you huffed. "In the future, just don't do anything like that again."
"But I've won the first round!" He grinned and danced around jubilantly, while you stuck your tongue out at him.
"You cheated, though. Illegal scare tactics."
"Potayto, potahto." He threw up his hands. "On to the next round!"
***
THIS TIME, IT was easy. Still smarting about Percy's cheating (although he was right, you couldn't prove it. That boy was infuriatingly smart sometimes, especially when it came to rule - breaking), you managed to gain a crushing defeat when, with only one block left in more than half of the tower floors, he tried pulling out a side block of a platform and everything came crashing down.
"Ha!" you yelled. "In your face, Jackson!" You flipped your (wavy/curly/straight) hair over your shoulder at him. "Take that, Perce!"
Percy simply sat there and sulked. You rolled your eyes. "C'mon Perce, you're a twenty-one year old man! Don't be a sore loser!"
"Besides," you continued, "We've got one more game left to go."
He grinned. "Game on."
***
"Oh gods. Oh gods. Ohhhhh gods - yes!" Percy managed to successfully pull out a side block (unlike the second round.)
You groaned. "C'mon, Percy, just lose already!"
"Never!"
Picking out a likely block, your hands moved towards it, one on either side. You were just about to pull it out -
"Even a kiss?"
You froze. Surely he hadn't meant - there was no way he could've thought -
Only one way to find out.
In one swift, decisive move, your hands moved -
and grabbed a different brick, as the Jenga tower came crashing down.
***
"YOU -" PERCY STOPPED. "You just - " He was standing up, so that you, kneeling down, had to crane your neck to see him.
"Well, there's no need to rub it in, you know."
Your heart was racing an million miles a minute (try saying that 10 times fast) as you attempted to play it cool.
"So, what do you want?"
He grinned, that sweet, adorable, dorky grin of his. "How about a kiss?"
"What?" Your mind slowed down to a stop as everything blurred except those words, those crystal - clear words that you longed to fulfill.
"Un - unless you don't want to, of course. " He backtracked hastily. "I mean, I totally get it if you don't."
Gently, all too fast but all too slow, you tugged him down next to you. "Alright." you breathed, and it was as if a flower was unfurling, soaking its' petals in sunlight -
as his lips met yours. One wonderful, eternal moment until he broke away and put his forehead against yours. "Be my girlfriend?"
You socked him in the shoulder. "That's for taking so long to ask." You hit him again. "That's for even being so stupid that you had to ask."
"Wait, what? You mean you won't-" Percy looked so crestfallen that you had to shut him up with a kiss.
"Of course I will, Seaweed Brain."

That was bad. I freely admit it.
But it's that fluffiest thing you're gonna get in a really long time, so enjoy it.
Can any of y'all make covers? Would you be willing to make one for me??? Because the cover I have right now is super bad ('cause I made it duh) and now I want a cover that's a nice cover.
