The crisp of new dawn is finally making its way through the little pole of curtains. Outside, the little bird is singing their joyous song. In the past-laced clock on the grimly bleaked wall; it's showing six-thirty. And the alarm clock blared off with a loud ringing.
Elan wakes up, although she's not a fan of early birds but she's precise with her timeline. She freshened up & put on a sweatshirt with long sleeves. As she's brushing her brown locks; Edward comes forward, trying to nuzzle with her.
It's not the time for funny-business. But she can't deny the cuteness of her baby, right? After a futile attempt of brushing her hair, finally she looks down. Little munchkin is looking so innocently at her, she gives a smile to her buddy & embraces him with his little furrs.
"Elan! Have you woken up? It's seven! Hurry up!"
Hearing the loud shrinking voice, Elan finally put him down and started to gather her backpack! And hurries her way in the down hall. This wooden house is comparatively small with the neighbouring houses, after having been transferred for years— Elan & her family finally settled down here last year.
She loves being here, even though her majority of the childhood; alway been a rush of changing homes. She feels like she finally found out what she's been searching for. The windows have been covered with little snow, if you look around it wouldn't be hard to find out the blanket of cold; is covering everything.
But her living area is different, although around this time you may find people with shovels to dig out the heavy snowfall but they never have to; since there's not been excessive minus degree cold— only gentle breeze to soothe your blazing body.
"What will you eat?"
The lady with grey hairs asks Elan. She makes her way in the kitchen & finds a pot to boil water.
"Cereal & coffee?" This time the lady prompts her with a hint of annoyance. Elan only hums in response & focuses on making her breakfast.
"Okay, do whatever you want! Here's the car keys if you wish to take for a ride."
The lady is none other than Elan's grandma, actually step-grandma. Elan was only a year old when her birth father died on a random night suddenly. Forth & back, within two years her mother found her love of the life; her step-father.
Things were fine with their little family. Her younger sister was born within one year of the marriage; they'd never settled down in one place because of her step-father's job. So, being transferred from one to another city, she's seen almost every diversity.
She drinks her coffee & takes some bread on the way to her school to eat & never glances back at the car keys. She likes to walk. The front seat of any vehicle makes her nauseous. Life is like a dream, where you gotta walk by your own— at least that's her philosophy for now.
As she's walking on the side-walk, the little sun rays start to beam in the sky. Those sun rays tickling her face with a glint of cajoling. She puts her earphone in her ears & bobs her head slowly with the slow rhythm.
Finally after reaching her destination, the bell rings! She rushes to move forward with the bickering folks in the hallway. She huffs a sigh of relief when she sees; the teacher hasn't come. Just when she sits down in her usual middle seat, Miss Morris enters the room.
"Good morning, Students! I hope you remembered; today is your mock test —based on the previous calculus class," she says while handling the white sheets.
Everyone grunts in response. She looks back in the backseat, finding empty she thinks, "Is he gonna be late today?"
A husky & breathy voice caught everyone's attention, "May I come in?"
